Played 1 practice game and won in 307 via peaceful method. A few mistakes (missed PT and LToP, forgot about Hermitage so delayed some rationalism policies) so room for improvement.
One issue with it being a small map over a standard is that with fewer CS's you now need to reach Globalization...
Red dot is too close to our capital, I thought there needed to be 4 hexes distance between cities?
Yellow dot has too little food to be viable in my opinion.
Could green dot be moved 2 to the west to allow the banana and wheat to be worked earlier? Would also give us those FP tiles for faith...
I'm probably not as black and white on the subject but I agree that, with the land we have, maybe too risky. Better to put into other things like you said than HG.
Still thinking the immediate priority is getting needed worker techs, then is probably the question of gambling for HG or sailing-optics to look for nearby land.
Hey guys, looks like we have all been barred from civ related activities over the valentines weekend!!
Techs - Now we have a worker we need things for him to do, so would go Masonry, Trapping to get luxes online asap.
Build - To me it appears we are alone (not met anyone yet and we were first...
Off we go again,
Set research to AH and then archery. Build to Shrine working hill.
T12 bump into second CS (Monaco) to the south east behind a ridge of mountains.
AH comes in and we have horsies on the grassland tile to our SE. I purchase this tile for 50g as would have been...
Ok so Mallaca's workers are fair game, any one got an idea on if CS are likely to build them first/start with them on this level?
Not sure waiting around for the second would be good use of unit and worker would tend to run away back to the city if a unit came near.
Techwise I'm not sure I see...
Don't forget we have mercantile CS on our doorstep which will give 11 more happiness when allied. We will hopefully be able to trade off excess truffles for luxes too.
Whilst the furs town is not ideal it could be the only coastal site pretty Compass to be in range of capital.
I agree with...
Played 10 then realised we never discussed what to research after Pottery.
After investigating the nearby ruins we discovered some advanced weaponary well, some sharp metal to put at the end of our sticks.
We would later find some random people who we haul back to Marrakech.
And...
Moved the Warrior and he didn't reveal anything that would deter me from settling on site.
I don't seem to be able to figure out how to upload a screenshot, anybody any tips??
I have attached the save file instead for you to look at.
I can play first, as we seem to have the build and research order in hand, I will move the settler to the GH and warrior SE,SW as discussed and post the findings. We can then call on where to settle.
If we dont settle capital on the coast I think it is a given to forego Tradition in favour of Liberty due to not being able to send internal food sea routes.
If we do settle on coast it is probably hard to judge at this point as with whats on view there are arguments for/against both viewpoints...
My Two pence on early moves.
The only worthwhile move for the warrior on T0 is to the south or the East to me, going any other way would not reveal much if anything we dont already know. Unless he reveals something unexpected I can't see any reason not to settle in place. The only issue I...
Does this suggest you're not happy with any of the starts?
Morocco does have top voting for 3 players.
IMO the more options the less likely hood of a consensus. I think we should give the Morocco start a go.
Having mulled it over I can see that the Celts start is possibly too good to be enough of a challenge, and if you guys have recently used them in another game I can understand not wanting to repeat.
Morrocco start looks ok'ish certainly some potential with Desert Folklore for religion, coastal...
