    [G&K] Great Engineer

"Growl". If you are lucky enough to build Stonehenge around turn 148 (going wide) a Great Engineer appears due to the Engineer points. However if you complete Liberty a few turns before then the generation of a GE goes from 3 turns (in my case) to 104 turns.

    [G&K] Making Piety Work

I have been experimenting trying to get Piety working as a viable Social Policy. It has a lot of attractive tenets but I find it difficult to achieve whilst trying to get through Tradition at the same time. In particlar the Reformation belief where you can purchase aany Great Person starting in...

[G&K] A first re Counter Spies

It always irked me that you could only assign one counter spy to a city as if it was targetted then you could have two thefts in one turn and you only had one shot at stopping them. Well I was wrong. Today, my counter spy killed two AI spies in the one turn. It can happen.

    [BNW] Gunboat Diplomacy (Autocracy)

Regarding this tenet of Autocracy, the Civ using this gains 6 influence per turn with CS's it could demand tribute from (plus their military is 50% more effective at getting tribute). Question is - does a pledge to protect by another Civilization diminish the capacity the Civ with Gunboat...

[BNW] Mastering Venice- An Art I won't Pursue

I played my first game as Venice and it is something I won't try again. There are some good aspects such as all the trade routes. However, I found it pretty boring with only one city in which you have to build every cargo ship, miltary unit, wonder etc. It just seemed to go on forever.

[G&K] Fighting Everyone On The Planet

And I mean everyone. Playing as China, on a small island with a few cities with a few resources. I was the only Civ with Freedom and was in trouble quite a few turns out but then everyone declared war on me. And the other Civs had allied to every CS. I was literally fighting everyone in who...

Bit hard to get used to

Not moaning about the game, but so far (after all of three days) I have found it to be quite buggy. Espionage remains very much a mystery to me- as does religion- and the resources are far more difficult to understand after Civ 5. As I said, I don't hate the game but I think I need to sit back...

I Was Gifted a Camel Archer- I am Now Short of Horses?

I know there is no camel resource but why would a camel archer make me require horses? Do they use them to round up the camels?

Hiawatha has launched a sneak attack on Melbourne...

Melbourne being owned by Pacal. So, I share the intrigue with Pacal. His response: "Thanks for bringing this Brazilian plot to my attention...." Well actually, it is the Iriquois. This is the second time in the current game that the wrong Civ has been named in those circumstances...

    Something Unusual- No Religious C/s's.

Title says it all. Playing on a standard map and I normally throw in extra City States, so in total there were 19 City States. Just by the way things fell, there was not one religious city state there. Bit of a pest as I like getting them as Allies (playing as Greece).

How Does Poland Manage In This Scenario?

Getting towards late game. I am playing as Greece and Poland is the world bully with a huge empire and the largest army. An embargo has been placed on Poland. A standing army tax has been introduced. My religion (which Poland doesn't share) is World Religion. Freedom (which Poland...

    Settlers and Religions?

Just tossing a few thought in here regarding building settlers in a city that has a religion/ pantheon. Would it be feasible for the religion to be embedded in the settlers? It would seem reasonable to expect them to be taking their religion with them. And I would go one step further-...

    Religion Screens

Did the religion screens change with BNW? I'm specifically referring the the World Religions screen where you used to be able to determine who founded a religion and how many cities it had spread to. Now when I click on it it merely says "There are no world religions".

Rigging Elections- Waste of A Spy?

Just to get a few thoughts on the above. Playing on King level as Morocco. I had two spies in CS's aligned with Rome. After two elections being rigged, and my influence being less than 100 behind Rome, the chances of a successful coup were 0% and 9 % respectively. It strikes me that rather...

Gifting Units to C/S- Change in Practice

Apologies if this has been mentioned, but I haven't noticed it here. I think we were all frustrated with the units disappearing into the ether. It seems now you can't gift another unit until the previous gift unit has arrived- that is, you can only gift one unit every three turns. If this...

Questions re Science Component in Trade

If I trade with (say) Ethiopia, I may be receiving 4 science as they have "researched 4 technologies that I haven't". 1. Does this mean they have researched 4 technologies in total that I haven't or have researched 4 technologies that are available for me to research at that time- that is...

    Some Achievement

Playing a large map with 9 opponents. 7 have just denounced me. India didn't because they are already at war with me. My only friend is Monty. That in itself is worth a medal.

    Report Acknowledgement

Over the years I have reported a number of threads for spam, porno and whatever- it comes with having different time frames. I have no idea where the reports end up and if they are even received. All I have ever got is a chat from a Mod for not reporting a post. Would it be possible for...

Is Playing As Austria Always Pretty Much Nothing?

I've been trying it the last few days and it seems a bit "day at the beach". Coffee House is good but the UU isn't anything for me and marrying city states seems counter productive- with my style anyway. I'd prefer to ally them rather than gain a sometimes hard to defend CS and lose the bonuses...

Burning a Great Engineer for Little Reward

I really hate burning a Great Engineer, seeing your city will build a Wonder the next turn and then getting a message that another Civ has built it. Why can't the game mechanics build it the same turn or not allow you to use the GE if construction is imminent? That is all.
