That's too bad, mrjepson. I've found the Maori ocean start a rewarding way to begin a Civ game.
Relatedly, I just posted above about Mali spawns far, far away from the desert. I wonder if the YnAMP mod is affecting that, too.
I've rolled about 10 Mali games and only 2 have given me sufficient desert tiles to take advantage of Mali's abilities. I assumed Mali's start bias would give me the proper terrain to put their acclimation to the desert to use, because their abilities are so obviously geared to that climate...
I'm working a game with the Aztecs right now. Initially, I thought I could go for a cultural victory with their ability bonus. However, it became clear almost immediately that their cultural bonus for killing enemy units is far from adequate for attaining a cultural victory. If you want that...
I read this and chuckle to myself as I sit in my office... as a youth director... in a Lutheran church.
I guess the originals still aren't forgiven. :(
I do not know many of the logistics of the unification, but I recently took an academic trip to Germany and was stunned at the lengths Bismark went to incite a nationalist fervor: statues of true Germans were all over the place and quite impressive. Furthermore, the way he used architecture to...
Oh, come on, you wouldn't take Morgan Freeman or James E.J.?! They clearly have the best voices in all of history.
On the other hand, the worst choice would be Tom Hanks. Seriously... blech.

First of all, you may have missed the initial topic of this thread, but I can roll with this.
I agree with you, that culture is constantly shifting and reforming. The primary reason for this is the uniqueness of an individual and their experiences; whatever he or she brings to the table...
I think if you told someone from Texas that they were a VASSAL of the U.S. ... well, let's just say you'd regret it.
EDIT
Additionally, they would probably cease to be a "peaceful" vassal.
