CtP2 works perfectly on Vista. I haven't tried CtP1 but they are very similar, so it should be fine.

Early it seems better to keep cities focused on science or production, and get gold in other ways, like barbarians, stealing and caravans. Once you have big trade cities you can switch between science and gold. Not sure on either. Perhaps keep an eye on this thread though.

Exactly. In very few cases do they contain any information worth paying for, especially as you can find all of it (and more) online anyway. Don't buy these things people.

Cool. CivRev has been perfectly stable for me so far, and that's including some 6 or 7hr sessions. Even games like Panzer Tactics, Puzzle Quest, Advance Wars DS (not Days of Ruin, that is very stable) have frozen after very long sessions.
