I already have 7 hours clocked in at steam but I hear they can make exceptions to the 2 hour rule sometimes. Everyone is saying the AI is so bad it basically ruins the game so I am wondering if I should refund it and buy it later once/if it's fixed.
Should I?
I picked the shuffle map setting and got what is possibly the worst start ever. I started alone on a large island and 90& of the landmass is tundra with no luxury resources. It's turn 100 and I only have 3 small cities with small population. Because of the sucky start I have barely any economy...
In modern days, many people casually use the world totalitarianism to describe all kinds of states and regimes that are considered dictatorships. The problem I have with this however is that I feel the world totalitarianism has been given the fascism treatment, in that it's just become a bad...
I was reading about the AI traits for Washington: http://civilization.wikia.com/wiki/Washington_%28Civ5%29
And see that there is a trait called boldness. I know what the actual word means, but what does it mean in terms of gameplay/AI behaviour? Does it make the AI take riskier decisions or...
The problem with waging war in the pre-gunpowder eras is that you don't really have any real effective support units to speak off. There are arrow men and catapults, but their limited range makes them less effective (and in harsh terrain like jungles/woods they are almost useless) compared to...
I know a city costs 4 happiness by default, but there are happiness building that can increase happiness. The thing is though, that there is a finiate amount of buildings but no real cap that I am aware of that controls the city size limit.
So what is the maxium amount of combined happiness...
I see many threads with lots of different downloads but I don't know which version is the latest stable one intended to be played for fun.
Which version should I download?
Are they truly random in that all the stats are just randomized, or do different leaders simply have their personalities replaced with those of others?
I know the AI factors in enemy units before it attacks a civ, but are nukes factored in differently than other units? Like if you have lots of nukes will it be more afraid of you even if your overall army is small?
In civ 4, domination victory was about controlling a certain % of the world's population and landmass (which could be customized) instead of holding everybody's capital. I personally liked this victory condition much more and would like to see it return.
Thoughts?
I have noticed in my game that as I have continued to buy religion units they have gotten more expensive. At the moment a GP costs roughly 1300 points. Is there some kind of maxiumum price or will the costs rise forever? And how quickly do costs rise?
There are 3 ideologies you can pick in the late game: Freedom, order and autocracy.
At first, I assumed these were just 3 black and white choices. With Freedom being democracy, order being communism, and autocracy being fascism. While I think this was probably true in vanilla Civ 5, the BNW...
One thing I don't like about Civ 5 is how each unit can only need 1 resource to be built. In civ 4 units could actually need more than just 1. For example, a WW2 era tank needed oil, while a modern tank needed both oil and aluminium. This meant that oil was still needed in the information era...
