    Community Patch for BNW

Not crazy about the -10 resting point penalty, or the 30 turn minumum war. I almost never have wars last that long, even when I'm eliminating a civilization. A war that long against a single city is just preposterous. Both of these changes are too huge.

I can't stand fog still on the map that late in the game. I know I invest far too many resources in scouting units and caravels just so I can have a complete map as soon as possible.

Bug with a culture flipped city

I was playing as Austria and got Freedom named as World Ideology. China, running Order, had a city flip to me which used to belong to Siam. I clicked 'liberate' because it wasn't a city I wanted. The city colour changed from China's green to Siam's yellow. Then the 'Choose Production' button...

Playing with Netherlands with Rainfall set to "Wet"

My husband played a game as the Netherlands where he couldn't find marsh or fp's anywhere. Late in the game, he conquered a city that had a marsh in its borders, though too far for the city to work. He built a polder there just for the principle of it. :p

    Honesty and self critique

    1) I don't think it's possible to specialize in CiV. In order to get National Wonders, every city needs so many of the same buildings that they all end up mostly the same. 2) If your city is low on hills, you need to save your forests for lumbermills so the city has some production. Otherwise...

    Liberation is a joke

*Liberate Madrid* Next turn: "You have a lot of troops around my city, are you coming to war with me?!" :cringe:

    Community Patch for BNW

What I dislike about Tall vs Wide is the National Wonder / pre-requisite building system. Every city needs a barracks, opera house, market, etc, making every city feel interchangeable. Bluh! As for city strength, I think population should be part of the factor - not just defensive buildings...

Things you only just now realized

Really? But I've wanted to do stuff like put trading posts on bananas or mine a sheep hill, and it doesn't have the option. Or am I missing a super secret worker button?

Things you only just now realized

The problem is that your island / peninsula almost certainly has resources on it that will break up the Moai chain, and workers don't have the option to choose to build a Moai instead of a pasture or quarry.

You can refuse the offer, look things over, then return to talking to the AI. As far as I know, it doesn't change what they are willing to give for peace.

Sadly, no. I know there are diplomacy mods, but I'm not sure if this option has been incorporated in any of them.

    Honesty and self critique

Back when I had the builder obsession, I made myself make a unit every other build. It's an inelegant way of solving the problem, but it really worked. I had options and opportunities with a bigger military force that I didn't have before, and now I have the opposite problem - I don't go for...

    If civ was real life.

If Civ was real life, every archaeological site looks like Stonehenge. You tear down the stone circle to get to the coin underneath. Tourists flock to see the coin, rather than visiting any intact stone circles.

    Enhanced User Interface

I had this bug too. The fix you made seems to bring the notifications back, but I only fit in a few minutes of game time before shutting down for the night. I'll report back after I've given it a few hours of play. Looks like a great mod! :)

Things you only just now realized

Scouts are good for worker guard/escorts too. Things I only just now realized: When making proposals to the World Congress, I need to think what my interests will be in 30 turns, not what they are now. Just because I can spare the production now to win the World's Fair, doesn't mean I'll have...

First city: ever move off a river to a hill?

I caught myself putting cities on hills until it finally clicked with me that it was Civ IV behaviour. That hill might make the difference between surviving a barb invasion or not. Now that cities are more robust, it isn't as important to have a hill city for defence.
