    Unexplored lands shows as "clouds"

I agree with the OP. Unexplored land should be dark - it adds to the sense that you are a brand new civilization starting out and the known world stretches only as far as you can see. This might seem like a small detail, but Civ crafts a sense of immersion the way few other games do, and this...

    Babylon + 2 Unknown Civs Pre-Order Question

I am in the exact same situation as the OP. Except replace dog with 2 cats. Ahirman, the info you gave settles the question in my mind. Looks like ordering the version with Babylon and then buying the DLC down the line is going to be the best option.

Ability to creaty our own leader?

Yep, the MOO2 system was great. However, now that each civ/leader has their own unique bonuses (no more generic mix-and-match with Financial, Philosophical, etc), if they offer Unrestricted Leaders then you will be able to do quite a quite a bit of mixing-and-matching for some pretty creative...

    No Tech Trading

One thing I particularly like about the new system of cooperational research is that it forces civs to cooperate on a going-forward basis, so now if you have a research treaty with a civ, you will actually be somewhat concerned for their welfare since you are counting on them to help you tech...

    Technologies relating to resource discoveries...

Well usually resources are revealed as sort of a secondary benefit for the tech (like Bronze Working is mainly important because it lets you choprush, and Iron Working is mainly important so you can colonize Jungles (on games with large masses, of course). So you rarely have to research a tech...

    The Strategic Vision of CivV

I agree strongly. I understand that many players' are attached to certain aspects of the game and are concerned to see them go, but I am much more concerned with the overall Civ Experience than with any particular element. SODs, rampant Tech Trading/Brokering/Selling/Abusing and other things...

Ability to creaty our own leader?

I am also a fan of "create your own race" functions in turn based strategy games as it lends a little more of an RPG feel. But with Unrestricted leaders, civics/social policies/the new Civilization Tree, and the extensive modding that is possible, this base is already pretty well covered.

    GamePro Preview

It probably has more to do with the fact that they're eliminating generic mix/match bonuses (Financial/Expansive/Creative/etc) and giving each leader/civ unique abilities. Even if there's just 2 unique attributes per civ, it's a big challenge to come up with 36 interesting and unique bonuses -...

    No Tech Trading

I like the change. It will be a major departure since TBS and 4x games almost always have some form of tech trading, but cooperative research is a much more interesting way to facilitate partnerships among civs. It forces cooperation over many turns and the creation of a real interdependence in...

Infos from the new Computer Bild Spiele about Civ 5

Hopefully it means the game will rely less on opponents receiving huge bonuses to production/research/etc and more on actual AI decision-making. The research cooperation should compensate for this, too - it will force civs to actually work together and form strategic partnerships rather than...

Infos from the new Computer Bild Spiele about Civ 5

Great. Tech trading was always one of the most abused aspects of the game. Not being able to rely on dealing for techs makes the decision of how to tech through the tree very, very different and much, much more interesting. People will cry because it takes away a huge crutch, but it's a great...

    A bit dissapointed!

This is probably a necessary change since now each civ/leader has its own unique characteristic (no more mix and match Aggressive/Spiritual/Commerce). I'll GLADLY take a smaller number of truly different and interesting civs over a larger number of choices that share so much in common. Quality...

World Wonders – Suggestions / Requests

The logic behind this is that nuclear proliferation is inevitable. Once the technology is discovered, it's tough to keep a lid on it. Mainly I want the wonders available at each stage of the game to be of similar power level. For example, there's no reason for the Pyramids to cost 500; they...

    civ V on XBOX360 and PS3

The game coming to consoles would go against the direction every other single piece of info we have about the game points. With the introduction of hexes, deeper ai/diplomacy/trade, and a more complex combat system, everything indicates the game will be grander and deeper than ever before.

    Civ5 Wishlist

One more big wish for the game: make it easy to record games and then rewatch/share them. Being able to easily watch match replays would be great, and would help the knowledge base of strategy in the community grow much more quickly. It would help newer players develop their strategies for...

    Civ5 Wishlist

I really only have one single big wish for the game: make each civ's bonuses interesting and unique, like in Alpha Centauri (or CivRev). None of the mix-and-match system where every civ gets 2 types. It makes the civs sort of lose identity and leads to less interesting gameplay strategy/variety.
