I'm no expert, but from the sound of it you have the wrong version of RoM. You must have RoM 2.92 for AND 1.74 (and all patches thereof). RoM 2.92 was released June 15, 2010, if you last downloaded RoM before that, you need to download the latest version and replace the existing version before...

I just set it up again, and let it run for the better part of a half hour and it didn't move at all. I've got a 3 Ghz dual core, I don't see it taking 25+ minutes to generate a map. I'm trying to make a gigantic one, and those are what 250x200? That shouldn't take that long should it? At that...

So just let it sit for 5 minutes or something? The thing is I'm not sure if it's ever getting to the generate part, it locks when it says Initializing, unless that is the generate part.
