    Patch questions

Thank you for the info. I get why espionage isn't included, it isn't like I was expecting religions to be patched in, but the 100 hp thing seemed more like a balancing attempt which should be a patch not DLC. Meh, the game does seem better with the patches, maybe I will break down and buy the...

    Patch questions

I bought Civ V when it was first released and not too long afterwards stopped playing. I am now coming back to it after months of ignoring it because I had hoped some patches may have improved it. My question is this, since I re-downloaded it from steam ( having un-installed it before) are...

New DLC at December, 16th: Spain and Incas

I really wish they would stop with the DLC and put more effort into fixing the game. DLC is great but not when the game is still broken. I just can't see sinking more money into the game until what I already payed for is decent.

    Automated workers ruined me

The worker AI isn't really much worse in V than it was in IV, not to say it was good in either. The thing that makes them so much worse is that now when they decide to carpet your continent with roads and rails you have to pay for all of it.

farming workers and high city str

If you check your options there is a box to check that will prevent you automated workers from destroying old improvements. I use to automate on occasion in Civ 4 but I can't in Civ 5 because they start roading to nowhere and it costs me money.

    One road to victory

Yeah I get that. If nothing else they could go to war to keep someone from getting too far ahead, for being annoying, or for expansion. Domination victory is by no means the only reason to war. I was just curious if limiting the victory conditions would be cheap, because the AI would play...

    Tip for beating barbarian camps

Does anyone know why this is?

    One road to victory

Just curious, if I disable all victory types except one will the AI's recognize this and shoot for it? For example if I make it so the only way to win is a culture victory, will the AI's strategy be effected by it or will they play normally?

Worked my way up to Immortal, still never finished the tech tree or Space Victory!!!

Sadly it seems any victory besides domination is sort of a gimmick. The only time I've been to future era is when I was doing a culture victory and even there I could easily have crushed the AIs, so far ahead was I. This was on Immortal. Which is pretty sad considering I only play on king in civ...

Death of Conventional Strategies? [11/18 Patch Notes]

The policy change leaves me thinking I'm going to be trying to blitz my way through the tech tree just to get to whatever era the policy I want is in. Not that I didn't do that a bit before but now I kinda have to do it ASAP or risk spending a SP on something I just don't care about.

Death of Conventional Strategies? [11/18 Patch Notes]

Ranged units still provide flanking the change is that the AI will no longer use them for flanking which opens them up to easy melee attacks.

why is my population so low

The thing is you over did it. You shouldn't have expanded beyond the happiness you had, I was just offering a suggestion for fixing it. Also I'm assuming some of those cities are not placed in the best spot so giving them away won't hurt you too bad especially if you get the AI to declare war on...

why is my population so low

are you still unhappy? if so then you need to limit your number of cities. You might even consider selling some to your neighbors, the ones that are useless at least.

why is my population so low

If by "happiness is an uphill struggle" you mean that you are unhappy that is probably why. Unhappiness means your cities grow at 1/4 of the normal rate.

Any high level strategies besides ICS or rushing?

I don't know how effective bribes are in keeping neighbors happy, never give them anything unless I am getting something from it. The trick to long last friendship though has a lot to do with not being hated. You have to keep pushing the hate onto other people. If you are going to gift someone...

Any high level strategies besides ICS or rushing?

It's not really a matter of elaborate back flipping you just spam pacts of cooperation/secrecy to keep people off your back and hopefully set it up so you can steal some land in the process. The benefit is that you have AIs to sign research agreements with, trade with, and even ally with...

Any high level strategies besides ICS or rushing?

But do you consider them cheap? And I don't think they are necessarily no brainers. TheMeInTeam seems to neglect them a bit in his videos.

Any high level strategies besides ICS or rushing?

I play on Immortal and I don't ICS or rush. I do occasionally take out a neighbor if he is ridiculously hostile but for the most part I set-up a few initial cities play the politics, ally close CS's, and eventually grow by taking some cities from whoever is being dog piled on. Eventually I pick...

Social Policy Cost vs Number of Cities

It's also a bit easier with Askia because puppets seem to have a preference for UB's. Whenever I play as him my puppet cities pump out the UB immediately and that is a nice chunk of culture.
