How do determine a CS rate of decay?

Some city states (CS) have -1 and -1.5 rate of decay base. How do I know ahead of time what that is (before I invest)?

    Crazy Starts

I'vebeen finding post patch that I've had an increase number of starts where I'm in range on 4+ resources. I always try to settle on a resource so normally I take up to 2-3 turns to move and settle. The last one I payed as Siam I settled near 5 silver and 1 gem and had the El Derado wonder like...

Getting a city state to hurry the hell up and develop thier near by resource

So, is there anyway to influence a CS so that they get their nearby resource in a reasonable time frame? Seriously I've gotten messages from CS that were nearby "pearls" get it at around turn 200.

Start a world war and make tons of gold from it. Exploit?

So, I started doing this in response to when you kinda know a couple AI civs are about to declare war on you (you know they line up all their troops on your borders). Initially, I would diplo the target AI, trade all my resources (luxury and strategic) for as much gold as I can get. Then...

Tech: Anyone able to stay ahead or keep even with the AI on Immortal?

I normally get rifles first but not for very long and they always get infantry before I do, and its not by a couple of turns it like by like 30.

Can I make other Civs like me?

Like can I just dump 1000G on them via trade for nothing and them go from hostile to friendly?

    OCC post patch

I played a OCC and won via culture with Alexander on turn 275. Previously I was able to complete the OCC normally at around turn 255. Overall the changes makes the mode more fun. The tradition policy that gives you money solves the huge problem with money that you would have. This is really...

Trading bug? AI cancel trades the turn after...

So, I've run into this several times in all the games I've played I think. But the AI will cancel a trade say you give the silver for X gold and X gold per turn. The next turn they will cancel the trade. But, they'll engage the trade the next turn again. Anyone run into this?

Do you hook up your target enemy civ with "strategic resources" ahead of time?

I've been finding that if I deal the AI Iron or Horses (whatever I have or they tend to use) ahead of time they'll invest into units that require the resource and hopefully when I attack they will need those resources to prevent the 50% penalty. Makes things quite a bit easier and makes you...

Settling on luxury and strategic resources

Hello, just wanted to see how you guys felt about this. Up until recently I've always settle beside luxury resources and have workers develop the tile but now, I've decided to just settle on top of luxury resources so I don't have to work them. The reason being is that playing on immortal...

Playing as China on Immortal no rush style

So, I've gotten the hang of things on immortal which is 4 warriors to start, get iron workings asap, rushing your nearest neighbor, settle 2 cities, go on a war path while producing more military and b-lining rifles. It works, but it gets kinda old. I ran into an AI one game who despite being up...

Modern ERA combat - Gunships are the funz.

I just played the first Immortal game that I actually won so normally the game on any other difficulty simply didn't require anything other more than Mech Infantry. But in this last game, it just seemed the AI had so much stuff that my progress would be slow, they had a strong defensive bonuses...

Trading Cities for big $$$ and to create wars

I'm finding that often when a civ wants peace you can trade cities to them for big $$. I'm not sure what determines the value they place on the city but in general it is the size of the city but there are other factors because I found that a size 7 city was getting a larger offer than a size 10...

I think other CIVs don't like it when you attack city states.

I think other CIVs don't like it when you attack city states. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this or this has been discussed already but I really find that if I attack city states I'm more likely to get bad trade deals and have multiple or a lot of people declare war on me.

Trying Ghandi on Immortal - Looking for advice

Hello, I just completed a game with Babylon on Immortal and decided to try Ghandi. I thought Ghandi would be good because of his trait although his UU (unique unit) and UB (unique building) are garbage. Outside of getting the Forbidden Palace and the policy in order. If there any thing...

Well, I just finished a game on a huge map....

Map: Pangea Size: Huge Number of Ai: 22 Number of City States: 28 Speed: Stanard Race: Alexander Difficulty: Emperor So slow.... I have a pretty decenent machine and the game struggled. Like early turns took a couple of seconds to process turns around turn 300 (I play windowed) it...

The AI will never be fixed, so stop hoping... :(

meant to post this in general. I really don't think they can fix the AI. It would take an enourmous effect to do it right. The first problem I see if finding the right people to actually do the job we want. In the world of Computer Science AI is still among those problems that have moved...

What effects does ERA have on City States?

Just wondering if there is a list of how city states bonuses change with the change to eras? Also, how to determine the range on units that a military state will provide you and when? Like, if they like me say 200 points worth vs 100 points worth am I more likely to get a Giant Death Robot ?

    OCC victory via domination

I thought the only real way to win OCC was via cultral. Guess, not. Are the diplo or scientific victories possible? For my OCC via domination, I choose Gengis Khan and just did a rifle rush. Once my guys got turned into swordsmen they basically never stopped killing. I opened up with like 6x...
