    [new interview] Civilization Online: MMO/real-time

considering it's being developed by a third party (XLGames) as opposed to Firaxis, it might be a stretch to say 2K is "throwing money" at this instead of working on the "canon" Civ franchise. my guess is that the game is primarily intended for release in Korea for now, where there is a...

What civilizations do you WANT in?

Inuit and Israel. And maybe Klingon and Krypton just for the heck of it. ... They'll only be as ridiculous as GDR and XCOM squads, minus potential licensing issues.

    Poster clues

yeah. i was thinking maybe they could be the same fort improvement with era/civ flavors. or perhaps the forts give tourism boosts after they "turn into castles." well, this speculation is at least a little less outlandish than my "coordinates" theory :crazyeye:

    Anybody noticed?

Then again, the "Hint" poster with XCOM characters and the caption about conquering the galaxy kinda makes me wonder if there will be some sort of yet-to-be-announced expansion on the future era / space race a la Alpha Centauri (as speculated in the poster thread). Most likely not though.

When do you open with the honor tree?

Monty -> Honor -> Barbarian farming -> Complete Honor tree as you go rampaging other civs once they start expanding

    Hussar,Austria,and Hungary.

I think in the end it will be about how many users Firaxis can please by adding a new civ. I.e. how many DLCs the addition will help sell. Something like Zulu, which has been around since Civ 1, is one of the more obvious choices. Korea seems to have been added because of its large gaming...

Wonders shouldn't be part of a DLC

simple solution: play vanilla. create vanilla LPs that hopefully other like-minded people will join. it's rather hard to argue that the DLCs should not contain potentially game-changing content... which would leave the DLC content-less, and therefore not sell very well. the company would...

    Need some new Naval units

Then again, the same case could be made for post-gunpowder land units. None of them are truly melee anymore, but they are not as "long-ranged" as say, rocket artillery. While I too would love to see additional detail / reality to some aspects of the game, such considerations would / should be...
