    Germans are over powered

My understanding is that any land unit a Civ can build can be spawned in barb camps (so as soon as anyone has researched archery, archers can spawn, horseback allows hand axes, if anyone has bronze working spears start popping up, etc.) but it seems pretty random what spawns out of the...

    Germans are over powered

Which is more xp (virtually guaranteeing all units have at least the 30 xp cap from barbs), with Honor more money and culture, and raging makes it harder for everyone else to boot. When I use Germany as a player, Raging Barbarians makes it way easier to steamroll.

    Germans are over powered

Germany (and abuse of their UA combined with heavy Honor) is the only way I can reliably win on Deity (yes, even on Standard speed) so... ya. maybe a bit overpowered.

Huge map, ancient, marathon with 22 civ and 41 city state, how to beat it?

Weird; my German Deity runs always go better & faster with raging on so I assumed camps appeared more quickly... Guess I underestimated how hard it is for the AI to handle the raging.

    World's Fair, International Games, etc.

My thoughts exactly. I find it super easy(virtually 100%) to get 1st on both the Fair and Games on Emperor and still reliably do it on Immortal (somehow pulled out 1st on World's Fair with Venice on Immortal yesterday). Depriving the AI of a good boost is always welcome and unless I'm...

Huge map, ancient, marathon with 22 civ and 41 city state, how to beat it?

Huge Marathon Pangaea? short story: Germany + Honor = win. If it is too hard, turn on raging barbarians to make unit farming faster. With a decent war game, you can easily beat Emperor or Immortal even without the raging barbs.

Friend, I have a serious matter to discuss...

I always assumed it was just ham-fisted programming ensuring you don't run a peaceful game without paying for a massive army...

The Hall of Fame raises some questions

Pretty much every leaderboard for every game ever made is topped by cheaters; even most of the top non-turn 0 ones are bogus. I had a brief foray into CoD multiplayer... leaderboards were topped by people who had 14+ kills per shot fired!

    Securing a Beachhead

If my main goal is to secure a beachhead I simply look for the weakest coastal and suckerpunch it with as many Frigates as I can. I prefer to start a fight knowing I can take at least one city within 3 turns regardless of the era I'm in. Which, on Immortal+, typically means waiting until at...

What's the best militaristic city gift you've received?

I know its a Patronage gift as opposed to a Militaristic gift but getting a Khan while playing a Poland game I intended to win by Domination was godly.

Will they ever fix the Overflow problem?

Whats the "if there's any chance at peace, the AI will take a no-conditions trade" exploit? I've never run across such a thing.

what factors make an AI travel far to settle in your face?

I was thinking the same thing. Can;t see the whole landmass but looking at whats there and realising it is deity (2 settlers plus fast growth) they aren't "forward settling" so much as "grabbing the best/only open land that is left". Plus, this early you probably have no military...

Why I have stopped founding religions altogether

I'm just starting to test the deity waters and I can still usually found a religion, I'm just rarely first. So far, I'm finding it common for there to be a cascade of religions getting founded around turn 50-60. But as always I've had a deity game where a religion stayed unfounded until the...

    Folder full of unfinished games.

When I'm playing the warmonger, I like to have multiple fronts to help manage the tedium... currently wrapping my first Scramble Earth and pushed into Africa with my land force while my frigates sailed to South America. Conquered my way to peace on both fronts and sandwiched the French Empire...

    Balance: Frigates

For something that is "so terribly broken and OP", I have never been run over by it. I must be a much better player than I realised. ;) Seriously though, there are a lot of factors that Team OP are ignoring (terrain and having a balanced tree being big ones) that it is hard take the...

Why are AIs not building citys?

Oh it can definitely happen on lower difficulties but with far less happiness to go around, I would imagine that it's rather uncommon. AI Flavour being the main factor when they do so (Russia is always massive in my games). To be honest (on Emp...) I've seen it swing both ways; civs spamming...

Why are AIs not building citys?

The answer is Prince. Full stop as the detailed reasons have been mentioned a couple times so far. Try a game on Immortal and you'll typically see that many/most AIs will expand quickly early and not stop.

    How to provoke a war?

Not "NEVER", but definitely less likely... I've had AIs DOW me when I had a bigger/stronger/better military many times in the past. Sometimes early eras, sometimes late. They ARE far less likely if you have a bigger army yet(as others have said) don't factor in quality of units so when they...

    Balance: Frigates

Oddly, I view this in the opposite light. Some of the suggestions about changing/buffing land units/improvements result in less diversity because then you'd only need to go down one part (the bottom) of the tech tree to combat top and bottom strategies. The point of balance is that if you...

    new mintemen = super prachinas?

I'm in the minority that loves both of America's UA benefits... enhanced sight on all military land units is amazing early on and really useful in most war situations. Gets better with artillery but always a tactical boon. As for half tile purchase cost, I find myself buying tiles at one...
