I haven't played without reloads myself. I think it would be tough. I'll try it though, but not on swashbuckler. I would never manage that because you have to depend so much on your reactions and timing in swordfights and dancing. Gotta be alert at all time, like super mario bros.

I do believe chosing fencing is not necessary. It is tough, but one should be able to get by anyway without hundreds of reloads. I'll try some more. You never know when you meet tough targets really. Maybe you know more about this.

I can't beat many on swashbuckler. I've practiced swordfighting in tavern, and the best results I have so far is with cutlass, jumping and dodging. But it's hard. Once the speed increases, I don't see what the opponents next move is, making it almost impossible to beat him. Once you get a puffy...

I have to agree with that. I bought the game because it was classic. However I got tired of it after a week or two. I'm sure I'll be wanting to play it again someday though. It's for certain moments...when you want be a pirate!

Yes easy solution to your problem. Just skip your restrictions 1, 2 and 3. Those peopl are evil, and you will have your revenge! You can also fight pirates. That's still a peaceful solution. No country will be mad at you and you will gain status.

I agree too. But then, there is always pirates you can act your aggressions on and gain some status while hunting down Raymondo.

I take a quest from the governor and kill his mailrunner. :) Mailrunner is better than canoe I think; more crew and cargo. Even pinnace is better than canoe according to the manual.

I just did that...divide up plunder, find Montalban and a Maya treasure. So I went to recruit pirates. Got up to 700. Installing new governors and getting duke status for all four countries was easy then. Got some cash in the process.

One question. When I see them treasure fleets, take them, I rarely get more than 3500 gold for each ship. I thought it would be like the old pirates where you get 50,000 gold for them. Or at least I was hoping for like 20,000 gold. This is no different than taking a few invasion ships (and sell...

I agree. Very slow sometimes. Especially when you hit a ship with your cannons and some of its crews jumps overboard. For some reason, you cannot move to the crew, and you are sailing in 1 knot, or -1 knot, even with the fastest ship. I have no idea why, but this is annoying, and it makes me get...

I just bought the game. The US patch doesn't work for me. I bought the game in sweden. What a disappointment. Must I install the game in program files\firaxis games\... etc like that? When I start the update file, I get this error message: "Cannot modify E:\program files\...\pirates!.exe"...

In Gotm19 DaveMcW managed to win a 20K culture game at the amazing date 1550 AD. That's also something one might want to check out.

Dianthus: Yeah you're probably right. I can't see myself having much less workers. The only thing to watch out for are my 5 small towns that producing a worker every 5th turn. If I don't pay attention, unit cost could go up to the roof.
