    Joining the Immortals

My problem is I play mostly continent maps, and for a very good portion of game I will have no influence / information about the other side of the map :) With one runaway you can generally deal with, but when there's 2 or 3 - for me it becomes a problem (especially as they are on different...

How to play Celts on immortal

I am playing on epic speed, and production is a bugger, it takes 7-10 turns to get 1 PW out with all production focus. Calendar resources on jungle means ~60 turns until I can actually get a luxury to sell to AI (unless of course lucky with ruins and get techs toward either calendar or bronze...

Does Spain always start near a wonder?

That's a problem for me since am playing on epic, and if I don't get a hill start, getting my first scout out with all production (no mining resources start) takes about 10 turns, which is more than plenty for AI to get the wonders first if you have 1 or 2 neighbours nearby :(

    Joining the Immortals

Am in a pretty similar spot, but playing celts. Babylon, Spain, Arabia and Hiawatha on same continent. Hiawatha pretty much spammed cities to cut the continent in half, and now is conquering the lower half (am lucky to be in the upper part haha, but no way to expand because he plants city 4...

How to play Celts on immortal

So is pretty much going honor and warmongering early on - can't be played tall and peacefully? Because for some example I get jungle tiles in like 80% of scenarios (either in my territory toward my closest neighbour, or in his teritory) which is a pain in the back when it comes to assaulting...

    Maria Theresa

I believe commerce is a must with Austria as far as diplo marriage goes.

Does Spain always start near a wonder?

I prefer continents map types, and spain is always one of the most intriguing civs for me to play. You may get lucky and bust couple wonders early on (not mentioning the broken ones) and allow you to get on even terms with AI's (as you can afford to buy a settler and a worker early on - epic...

How to play Celts on immortal

Hey folks and merry xmas! I have serious problems how to develop with the celts (just stepped to immortal diff, haven't won a game yet, but am improving, can totally feel the step up pressure from emperor). My issue is that am not sure how to tech with them. I know I should get at least 1...

    Some tips for early game?

He could be stagnating at 2 pop if he decides to focus on production to pump something out faster. I had a situation in a game where I was forced to drop a town in middle of dessert surrounded by mountains only because it was closing any land access to my main land (was a 3 tiles space between...

    Help with Diplomatic Vic

It may be the shortest, but not the easiest since you will go tall and try to be peaceful most of the time, but depending on your neighbours that may not be possible, if you have to defend for a whole era while other civs runaway or super extend, you won't be able to catch up in economic /...

    Nuclear missile / atom bombs

I need 5 turns more to finish last SP. The problem is I can't nuke both of them at same time or put a severe pressure on them both (not enough units, they are far from me, one on same continent but england is between me and arabia on our continent and they are guarded, no open borders etc, no...

    The List of Opponents Thread

I hate Siam and Alex with a fiercy passion (and lately arabia as well, seems is best to wipe them out or severely gimp them before medieval or they will runaway with tech and build a huge army - they can easily support it lol). In fact, Alex is one of the strangest AI's for me. Even if we are...

    Science & Culture benchmarks

Am playing on epic speed, so I can't relate to your turns, but on epic, from modern era I would generate a policy between 10-15 turns (4 cities, going at 800-970 culture / turn in current game - depending if am on golden age or I can keep all cultural CS allies - there's loads of wars going...

    Some tips for early game?

The start location is very important, and IMHO one of the biggest decision makers that will affect your early development hugely. It can pretty much dictate what tech you are forced to research, what social policy to adopt, build order in capital, etc. Is worth often to scout a bit if you don't...

    Help with Diplomatic Vic

I went only once for a DV, and - personally - is the least satisfying victory of them all. It all revolves around CS quests, loads and loads of money and religion / science. You just end up spamming end turn waiting on quests to complete and getting angry neighbours as you can't close a blind...

    Nuclear missile / atom bombs

Do they deal the same damage in all blast radius or main portion is dealt on impact location and decreases to further tiles? Do they destroy buildings / wonders in a targeted city, or just deal damage to city hp and kill population? Am asking because I am in a situation where I went for a...

One City Challenge - Freedom Strategy Guide

GL is one of the earliest gone wonders, at least on higher difficulties. Unless you pretty much learn writing at very start from a ruin and luck out with gold income to toss out a worker and have forests to chop I can't see it done (95% of times is better to simply ignore it). The guide is...

The key to economic salvation on emperor

That's a nice approach and will definitely try it out next game! I usually try to steer away from religion because I am always too busy to get my pagodas / cathedrals / mosques etc in each city (when am not playing tall, this may take a while lol) so I always neglect prophets / missionaries to...
