    Rant on science and culture

They definitely get three (one at writing and two from specialists), if you're getting four you've messed up somewhere because the game should be over already. All true, but now take account of the fact that Babylon will be five or ten turns quicker to education than Korea, and that the first...

    Combos

A combo I use a lot is using a GE to build the statue of liberty right as I finish replacable parts, taking the Rationalism finisher as my free policy and then taking Plastics as my free tech.

Does the AI cheat on higher Levels

The religious tolerance thing isn't a bug though. It's doing what it's supposed to.

Free harbours not connecting trade routes?

You need to research Wheel, the tech that allows you to build roads, it enables city connections.

    My Privateers are not firing?

The actual city must be on the coast, the privateer must be in contact with the city, not just the borders.

    What gives faster research rates?

It doesn't. It gives three beakers and a free tech. +50% would just be a win button I think.

    BNW Deity Tier List

Shoshone are pretty mediocre on water maps, so they're not top tier.

Is there anyway to attract trade routes or is it just random ?

Trade route value is 5% of the gpt of the two cities plus whatever bonuses you get from buildings. So basically the better the GPT of the city, the more trade routes it will attract.

    Immortal cultural victory map settings

Map size effects cultural victory, you tech a little faster once you've met everyone, there's more competition for wonders, and if the culture leader is on the opposite side of a huge map it's a pain in the ass to walk your musicians all that way.

    What gives faster research rates?

It depends on your starting dirt. Food heavy is better for a one city national college, hammer heavy works better with expansion.

    Is Mausoleum of Harlicarnassus underrated?

It's nice to get, but not essential. I'd strongly consider it if I've got four or more marble or stone on grassland. Getting such powerful tiles (MoH + Stoneworks + Stone circles = 2 food, 3 hammers, 2 gold and 2 faith on grassland stone, 2 food, 2 hammers, 4 gold and 2 faith on marble) so early...

    Chinese, help is appreciated

Two things. One, you "stormed the Romans out of the map." Annihilating another civ completely carries a huge diplomatic penalty. Two, you took a city state during your war with the US. Killing CSs also carries huge diplomatic penalties.

    Your favourite Civs and why?

Two pathfinders right away. Take culture first, then pop, tech, weapons, pop, faith. Steal some workers, build some settlers. The ability to get everything so fast, to have five pop so early, to have lots of production tiles to work to get the settlers out, to get enough faith for a pantheon...

    Your favourite Civs and why?

I use the 5 power civs, Maya, Babylon, Poland, Korea and Shoshone a lot. Besides them I use Celts, Aztecs, Carthage, Byzantium, Huns, Songhai & Austria. I don't really have a favourite. I like to go wide warmonger with the celts, dropping half a dozen cities with liberty and being pretty much...

When should I build work boats for luxuries and fish improvements?

Buying a lighthouse is great, but it's 400 gold. A fishing boat is 240, you have to meet ten city states, or pilage a caravan or something to come up with the extra 160 gold in a timely manner. The fishing boat allows you to sell the lux you improve, enhancing your GPT alongside the extra food...

How do I get better culture per turn in early game?

Ally city states and run specialists. That is all.

When should I build work boats for luxuries and fish improvements?

I occasionally play an optics start, if I've got four or more sea resources. Scout, scout, shrine, grannary, workboat, lighthouse, settler, settler. Buy a workboat as soon as possible. Get GoTS as soon as possible. Sell your sea luxuries as soon as you get them and keep buying boats, keep the...

Cultural victory best strategy in Brave New World

About world religion: if you spread aggressively early you'll convert the non religious civs who are likely to be early game war mongers, (Genghis, Alex, Monte) make one of them host and it's not unlikely that they'll propose it for you.

Celts Religious CV strat (help please)

The thing about taking mosques or pagodas is that if you're spending faith on them then you're not spending faith on spreading your religion. Getting good spread is very powerful when pursuing a cultural victory. It gives you improved retention of CS, a positive diplo modifier with all civs who...
