Early expansion: Building or whipping settlers?

I dont understand. According to this source: "https://www.civfanatics.com/civ4/strategy/game-mechanics/city-growth/" it takes 33:food: to grow to size 2, so with granary its 16:food:. When you whip the pop you get 30:hammers:, 30:hammers:/16:food:=less than 2:hammers:turn. Is the link incorrect?

Early expansion: Building or whipping settlers?

Thank you that is some good answers, Are grassmines really bad? My reasoning: Pro-mine: they convert 1:food: into 3:hammers: but whipping with a granary converts 1:food: into less than 2:hammers:. Pro-whip: get settler and worker faster and the extra production they create will compensate for...

Early expansion: Building or whipping settlers?

Hello civers, How is the best way to build settlers and workers early game, please let me know your strategy? Lets say you have some food resources or flood plain, is it best to build warriors and only whip+chop workers and settlers so your city can grow or is it best to just hard build them...

Will Lord Baltimore (increases cross production by tax rate) boost production if you have theocracy (converts crosses into hammers)?

    Cannon rush deity, possible?

Alright lets discuss what to do post steel what may be the strongest move. I must mention that my empire will be adjusted for an espionage economy(nationhood+cottage economy+jails+intelligence agency)+ minimal sciencebuildings Plz choose one of the following 1.relax and just follow ai by...

Let's Play: Deity BC Space: Strategies from a 10 year veteran

How often do you whip cities on average/rule of thumb? Im thinking that if its supposed to be a sustainable economy you need some regularity and system. Each city every 30 turns is the only sustainable (whipanger). You solve this by gifting right? Will the ai always accept cities? Srry if you...

    Cannon rush deity, possible?

Ty all for the tips, very helpful:) The reason i dont like cav is the heavy counters and the heavy whipping and that you cant draft them, drafting gives more hammers per food. So thats why I want siege because conscripts are useless taking cities without. Siege can give a casualty rate maybe...

    Cannon rush deity, possible?

My ultimate civgoal is to beat deity.hugemap.normalspeed.17ai.domination.no UUcheese.preferably no nukecheese.before ai win space. This is my biggest dream and cannon rush is my latest idea to make it come true. I think it will be a good way to eat enemy 3 numbered-stacks. So has diety cannon...

Transition to mid/end game in immortal?

Ever heard of espionage economy? Its extreme effeciency lets you easily stay in tech with ais and have gold over for rushing and upgrading. Go nationalism for ep bonus and drafting and build only siegeunits to complement drafts. I can easily win most maps immortal huge 17 ais normal speed...

Let's Play: Deity BC Space: Strategies from a 10 year veteran

Anyone has experience with this strategy? Sounds like a optimal way to start the game with any civ in most circumstances so why does it not seem to be very common? warriornright from start or worker first to chop? Barracks? Can you whip warriors or will you waste overflow? So much to learn from...

Let's Play: Deity BC Space: Strategies from a 10 year veteran

Played civ4 for 5years and thought I knew all good strategies but the WBE seems to be very effecient and gamebraking, ty Wasting time! Two things I want to discuss: 1. Is civ 3 style ics (infinite citysprawl) back were more is always more? Now that every city can convert 1f=6g every city should...

    Will the industrial revolution return?

As some said earlier, I also like historical accuracy over balance. If Stalin did not force inustrialized Soviet we would live in a fascist world. The problem is that the AI is not exploiting industrialization good enough. If it did we could have both balance and history. I think history should...

    Will the industrial revolution return?

The best moment in civ is when you after long stalemates in the medieval and renaissance ages finally can start to industrialize your civ. In civ 3 and 4 this really feels like a revolution with factories doubling :c5production: and railroads adding 1 :c5production: to mines (civ 4) or...

civ 4 or civ 5 and where to buy

I have no idea what ur you are talking about. Religion adds entire new strategies with its many, many different and very powerful bonuses and its own social policy tree. Ideologies are very fun, balanced, and gives options to win in different ways and almost every game I build my 4th city on...

civ 4 or civ 5 and where to buy

Go for civ 5 BNW (brave new world expansion) its hell of addicting and there is so much going on all the time a game never gets booring. Civ 5 vanilla is crap. Civ 4 is also very good especially beyond the sword but my experience is it takes way more time to master and has alot more micro but...

Questions from a Civ IV player

This game is only about one thing and that is :) Yes happy faces. Whatever you do it will always restrict you. Good at growing or expanding? Happiness will punish you to hell. The better you do the more this game will punish you. Stay at civ 4 because ciV is where the civseries is degrading...

    Civ3 forever?

I cant deside if Civ 3 or 4 is best. I really like the sence of scale in civ 3 where more is more and armies are massive and cities are plentiful. It feels most realistic with the huge scale and the graphics feels like a map u overlook in your expanding stonepalace with your advisors around you...
