I've been experimenting with workshops before universities in four city tradition, and some games where you have low gold or low production, it's worth it to research metal casting before education. For liberty games, it's almost always useful because aqueducts are on the way to workshops.
1 tile is correct. 16 faith because you got the Religious Tolerance social policy. Due to a bug (?), you can have your pantheon be the second most popular religion in a city, adding 4 more faith per natural wonder, which is doubled by Spain's UA.

I think people on here are making it look like diety is impossible with a middle tier civ with middle tier dirt. I am of the belief that practically every civ game is winnable.
Everything else is not the same in MP. I play a fair bit of multiplayer FFA, simultaneous and not, and humans just fundamentally different from AI. You can't trade luxes for gold, there are no diplomatic repercussions, and strategies that work for MP dont neccessarily work in SP.
