Good idea, but for the meantime I want to just know if I can force mutliple players to have the same colour.. If not then I'll probably take on your idea :)
Since we're on the topic of changing borders fundimentally...
Can I ask if it's been done, or possible to make culture borders "hug" land? So a map would look aesthetically like a political map and yet still work as culture does?
Yes, the player colours! I tried to make the basics of a world-map based scenario, in which you have two global opposing factions. However each side is a team which is subdivided into four different theatres, with two regional rivals for each.
Towards this end I entered the wm file in...
I looked long and wide for that...
You simply make a folder in the mod folder of the c:\programes\... directory... with the name of the mod you'd like to make. then start copying and pasting files from the "assets" folder of civ4's main directory to a duplicated "assets" folder in the new...
I was modifying all the files I could find and understand from the XML folder for my new mod.
It's just x10 of everything to make the game of quickly. However, I can't find where the colloseum/threare happiness values that are associated with culture are found... Does anybody know the XML...
I know it is possible to edit the yields fields, but are there any other files that would be required to create a science and culture tile yield?
Has anybody tried creating new yields? Or tried the above specifically?
The aim of making more specific tile improvements was so that the entirely tundra terrain of the scenario's map could be specialised in specific economic nieces for each city. To influence things overall more keenly.
That sounds good, but I would very amuch like the unique technologies to be...
Well, it may be of help if you created a mod folder and simply tried to modify the gamespeed xml file yourself. Modding XML is easy, so no worries.
C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\XML\GameInfo...
Simply hoke in that directory path and copy the...
It works a treat! Thanks :) However it was a little more complicated than you suggested.
The following files needed to have improvement elements modified/added;
Civ4ImprovementInfos.xml
Civ4ArtDefines_Improvement.xml
Civ4UnitInfos.xml
Civ4BuildInfos.xml
...
Then there were several more...
It's that simple. I lumped both togethor to save topics, so here we go.
1: In a mod I am making each civ has a unique tech that grants them a unique unit/building/civic/tile improvement... But I'm unsure how to make a tech unique.
I remember in civ2 this was easily done by putting "no" in...

I sucessfully modified happiness bonuses for religion for a mod I am making... But I cannot find where the specific vaue is to modify, in the event which asks...
"Do you want to convert to sedreligion? Doing so will create +1 happiness in cities with that religion."
I need to find where...
Ah, I figured it out. The reason it wasn't working was so stupid it had to be true...
I had installed the game into \My Programmes\Firaxis\... But ALSO, it had created a directory in \My Documents\My Games\... I had put the mod file in the later folder and it didn't work. However when...
Well I best try to get that to work then. Thanks for the help. :)
EDIT: I have tried matching files, tried IP, tried gamespy... It simply does not work. I tried to disect the American Revolution mod to see what makes it tick online... (It works on gamespy) but it doesn't help. Ergh.
JP; I've done and assume 1-5. The friend is computer-competant and the files are exact.
TGA; I would love to try directIP. But it doesn't work well for us. His internet is iffy for that kind of thing and I have not yet found specific allows for my own firewall.
I tried to get a simple XML-only mod to work over the internet with a friend. But it did not work, I was told to look into the .INI file, but I need someone else to tell me what is wrong here...?
(The mod folder and .ini file names are exactly the same...)

Now, I know what you're thinking...
"OMG N00B!" I'm probably posting this in the wrong forum and havn't found the FAQ yet...
So, I made a simple terrain-modifying mod to game with friends, x10 resources. As you do for a laugh. But after finding nothing helpful (until coming here to post...
