The way differences in Idologies rape your happiness in the Modern Age in BnW is a game breaker for me. If the happiness effect had been something like 25% of what it is now, then I could work with it.
Is there a mod that changes this?
Is there an xml file in D:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Sid...
I've switched back to a save a bit before my Ideology choice. Will see how far I get,
It's obviously a steep learning curve. I had no idea BnW was so different.
Now, in the replay I chose Order, the same as my Neighbor Rome. The Iroquis chose Freedom and had about -5 happiness from that - not...
Thanks. I read up on this a bit, including the Ideology guide (not quite done with it yet). I think part of the problem is that it hits you suddenly with no warning, and the effect is quite serious. I was at the weakest level (dissident), but got hit with -15 happiness suddenly with no...
I picked up Civ5 yesterday after a pause, with BnW, and got hit by what appears to be an Ideology happiness bomb. It is an exercise in frustration. I have changed between all three ideologies to no avail. I have 20+ unhappiness no matter what I do. And I cannot figure out using the in-game help...
I bought it when it came out (in Denmark) and gave up a couple of weeks later. Quite a disappointment and nuff said about the deficiencies in various threads. I expect to get back to it once in a while to see what has happened with it and if any promising total conversion mods have been released.
Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to write this down.
It is a great analysis that summarizes my own thoughts, and the final analysis is spot on. "It sacrifices depth of play for ease of play" - that is basically the tradeoff the designers must have had in mind, and where they goofed...
I don't think this is on the list in the OP.
The unit upgrade you get from Ancient Ruins is odd and another sign that this game wasn't thought through. It can result in a Rifleman running around in the ancient age. It should most definitely be replaced with a (random) promotion or a number of...
The title of the thread is Civ 5 Issues. In my mind that includes bugs. Is there a bug list?
Besides, there is a grey zone here. Is the lack of a feature that "should have" been there a bug? For example, the inability to control worker automation. It effectively destroys your ability to...
It doesn't make sense to me that triremes and galleys can range attack two hexes inland. All ships should only be able to attack the coast - with the possible exception of modern ships (there is a change from range 2 to 3 for artillery type units - implementing the change from range 1 to 2...
It seems that they are there only to inspire me to do things.
Do I get any concrete result from unlocking an achievement - other than the satisfaction (as such, some of them are quite wimpy)?
Also, does anyone know if using a mod disables the achievements?
I don't mind playing Civ without Religion. Espionage is nice to have, but not absolutely essential. I never used it much. Diplomacy is essential for a good role playing experience.
Hopefully it can be modded in by a resourceful modder.
Luxury resources can be found when hovering over the smiley at the top left, and in a trade dialogue. Bonus researches aren't listed AFAIK - not that it matters, they have no effect outside the tile they reside in.
Doubleclicking!?
I'll try that. It might work elsewhere too. I got the impression from using the UI that double clicks simply weren't used anywhere.
Edit: It didn't work for me. Clicking or doubleclicking on any unit in the list selects the same worker.
