Solution seems to be to disable Norton's Internet Worm Protection from both machines (Antivirus Options).
Just selecting civilization4.exe from Program exclusions is not enough for pc:s to see each other. After game is in progress the worm protection can be enabled again. A bit fiddly but...
Erm, I dunno about that: it states it vaguely in the manual but... Anyways they should have increased the "allowed" distance from capital before humongous corrruption comes into play. Of course map sizes matter when the corruption distance is the same between map sizes, eh.
Regarding...
Go and play some huge maps and come here again. And no, as a palyer I`m not the conquest type and didn`t even play Civ2 :) The point is other things than distance form capital/hiden temple should at least matter in the modern democratic age against corruption. The courthouse effect is minimal...
for huge maps I suggest this lower corruption "mod":

I`m gonna test your map with it soon. The huge world map that comes with the game could be a little bigger continentwise and yours is :)
The blue sea looks awesome in the last pic Rhye :) Really nice work, but is there anyway you could post those modified files for it in the www? I could enjoy it too on my comp :D
Those changed waste/corruption rules apply to A.I. too so I don`t really get your cheating point. IMO there is serious gameplay flaw in dealing with corruption especially in huge maps. Try Earth (Huge).bic under Scenarios and see what I mean. I`ve tried to adapt and tested this in various ways...
In large maps the corruption is a real nuisance and very unrealistic in the modern age too. Only thing that really matters is distance from capital/hidden temple. Just try to play Earth (Huge).bic (under Scenarios) and see what I mean. For waste/corruption "cure" I suggest looking at this...
Thanks. The old system was ridiculous: only distance from capital/hidden palace seemed to matter (democracy and modern age) in a highly civilised society and corruption/waste was rampant. I also suggest taking the flag off from the marketplace, but IMO banks should remove corruption in society...
Yeah, I`m wondering that too. E.g. the corruption mod doesn`t unfortunately work on any of the scenarios, so I`d have to edit Earth (Huge).bic manually to add corruption flags to other buildings. But how? Are there some basic editing instructions lying round in the net?
