Yes workers cut down forest when automated. I think they're good doing the trade routes automated. In the early stages i like to control them because i'm trying to accomplish some specific things. But once a city gets established, i set them on automated so i can concentrate on my expansion...
The game ends at a pre-determined year, 2050 i think (could be wrong, don't have the manual with me to look it up). So then you'd just do some subtraction in your head.
Don't foget civ4 was moved up and rushed to completion. There's no doubt the games' got issues. I expect there will be a bunch of patches come out to fix the problems generated from a last minute timeline rush.
Anyone know if Prima is coming out with a Strat Guide for Civ4? Usually they release the guide the same time as the game but so far i haven't been able to find it. It doesn't exist on their site either (at least last time i looked).
with healthy/unhealthy and happy/unhappy, it doesn't matter as long as they're healthy and happy are greator than unhappy/unhealthy.
If you have 10 happy and 10 unhappy, you suffer no illeffects. But if you have 10 happy and 11 unhappy, you end up with 1 person consuming food and not...
I like the strategy. Being an old Starcraft player, i remember the shortcuts of getting your Reever (one of the heaviest units in the game) out fast so yo ucould go plunder your enemy before it had any hope in heck of defending against it.
I'm all for the quicker more aggressive approach...
NO it's not that easy with the Spy. The person (or computer) playing the Civ can't see your spy walking around in their territory. But when you carry out a mission, there's a risk factor dependant on things such as the type of government in place there, the population etc. If you're...
I have D-Tools and I have CloneCD both installed on my computer and the game runs fine for me if i have the CD in the drive. I run into problems when i try and play off an image though, that's when i'm getting the no cd error.
I haven't found a 'hider' utility that works 100% of the time either.
UberCivver,
First i have to appologize. Civ4 is my first Civ game and i'm still trying to figure out how everything relates to everything.
But I like your build strategy. I have a question though. When you say :Once your worker comes out, have him chop down forests anywhere he can in...
#1 when i spy enters another civ's city, you can see it's city screen.
#2 the spy can carry out missions that can be successful or not (and if not, the spy dies and your relations with that civ get negative). Missions include:
Destroy Production if successful the city looses all production...
I'm a first time Civer too but I thrived on Blizzard and Westwood RTS games and Simcity4. Civ seems to be a combination of both with a lot more depth.
I'd recommend reading the manual a couple times through and tinkering in the tutorial. Get a hang for how things relate to each other and what...
