Phew! Thank goodness that Great Wall will protect us from the cruel iron deposit! But what will save us from the 3-headed missionary gliding across the water? We're doomed!

Why did Istanbul get the works?

Nope. In the words of The Four Lads (and later They Might Be Giants): Istanbul was Constantinople Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople Been a long time gone, Constantinople Now it's Turkish delight on a moonlit night It hasn't been Constantinople since the fall of the Byzantines to...

Civilization 4 is like the best, eh (Canada) Too easy I know, but I'm Canadian - and a completely bilingual one at that, but the Québec translations sont déjà parfaites, tabarnac!

    Random lockups/reboots playing Warlords

I was crashing within the forst 50 or so rounds until I took this advice and played without Mehmed. No problems since, although I hope their patch comes out quick enough.

    Ottoman civ

My game would crash within the first 50 or so turns every time I played until I took a hint from Barak's other thread in the Bugs section and played a game without Mehmed. No problems at all when there are no Ottomans. Looking forward to the patch! Here are my specs. Hope they help.

    Civ4 Patch v1.61, SDK, PitBoss, & Low-res Movies Released!

Does anyone else have constant fog of war along the South Pole (or the West Pole on a iltes axis map)? I notice that one of the upgrades in the patch was "No more fog of war missing from the southern ice and from trees/jungle on the dateline". Overcompensation and hypercorrection, perhaps...

    Summarizing patch experiences

I had no idea Civ 4 was so sensitive. I was just being flippant :mischief: In any case, ridding myself of the mods did no good and so I did a clean install and now everything works - EXCEPT for the permanent fog of war close to the south pole. Still have that problem, for some reason...

    Summarizing patch experiences

Even if I get these glitches while I'm not running any mods? I only have one and I don't always play it. Can its existance alone in my mod folder account for this? Geez! Civ 4 is so sensitive! :) :king: Peace

    Summarizing patch experiences

    1) Weird error messages while the game is loading (that don't seem to affect play ... yet ... ) 2) Mao renamed LEADER_TEXT_KEY_MOA_ZEDONG 3) No music until Renaissance 4) Permanent fog of war near the south pole, even if my cities are there.

    CIV Gold!

Fantastic work! Thanks. Some of my leaders are looking a little weird now that I've installed patch 1.61 (or whatever little number the new one is). There eyes have gone white and are a little disturbing to look at. Other than that, all is well. Thanks for the great piece of work :)...

    Lo-Res Movies

I installed the infamous lo-res movies. The months of waiting have given me lo-res wonder movies that stall, hang, skip, flip and spit static in colour, as opposed to the hi-res movies that stall, hang, skip, slip, and spit static in back and white like before. Do they work for anyone else?

    Summarizing patch experiences

This is my response: no patch: problems 1.09: first problems fixed; new problems created 1.52: unplayable, crashes, black screens 1.61: playable, new problems created. The game is fun to play, but this is the last time Firaxis will ever see one cent of my hard-earned cash.

    Civ4 Patch v1.61, SDK, PitBoss, & Low-res Movies Released!

I'm not going to complain too much since 1.52 made my Civ4 completely unplayable - and now at least I can play - but does anyone else have these problems?: 1) Weird error messages while the game is loading: "Communism/Forbidden Palace/Three Gorges Damn text key incorrect" (or somthing like...

    CIV Gold!

Fantastic! Amazing! Stupendous! Just because I like to pick nits: 1) Why do you have the Iroquois leaders standing in the Plains in front of buffalo, in one case. The Iroquois lived on the forests of the eastern United States and Canada. 2) What is that music you've chosen for...

    The Song of the Moon

I haven't touched the game files. I wouldn't even know how! A few, but not all, of the civics are in the civilopedia. They correpsond to the civis that I can see in the civics screen. I can only see the civics in the top row (government, foreign, social, and economy) and the box for the...

    The Song of the Moon

It's looking excellent! My biggest concern is that I can't start a revolution from the civics screen. In fact, I can't do anything in the civics screen and have to press Esc to get out of it. Doesn't matter too much since none of the civics are explained. I just start a revolution when...
