    Age of Imperialism: 1895-1924 PBEM

Hey guys I'm still interested in being Spain, just going through a rough personal patch (dog illness/death, health issues) and also somehow got a really bizarre trojan that makes it impossible for me to open executable files. Hopefully I'll have all that resolved by the time my turn comes back...

NFL player, a eloquent and creative communicator

That letter is awful. It's terribly written, painfully unfunny, and detracts from the actions of Brendon Ayanbadejo, the Ravens player who took a mature political stand and was threatened by a member of his legislature for daring to express an opinion. It also hides the fact that the Ravens...

And this has what to do with this scenario...?

    Storm Over Europe (SOE)

You spelled convoys wrong in all the city names that send the lend-lease stuff over.

    Megaupload closed by the FBI

Compiling a list of file-uploading websites? Nothing illegal about that. File uploading is perfectly legal, as long as the hosts comply with safe harbor acts and remove copyrighted materials when asked by the copyright holders. Megaupload was shut down because they were blatant in their refusal...

SCENARIO: Age of Imperialism; 1895-1924, Deluxe Version

I have an old 5.0 set of beta files if you need them, from back before my hand shattered in a variety of interesting ways. They're pretty old though, from like June or July I think. Did your HD break mechanically, or logically? If it was logical, getting the data back should be relatively...

    Civ III - V

I play Civ 3, 4, and 5 regularly, and they all appeal to me for different reasons. Civ 3 was my first Civ game, and I love it mostly for nostalgic reasons. Civ 4 is the best balanced in the series, but I don't particularly care for the graphics in it- I'm just not a fan of that era of 3D...

SCENARIO: Age of Imperialism; 1895-1924, Deluxe Version

Good-looking revisions to a good scenario, El Justo. The only thing in particular I want to comment on is the happiness system- with the number of specialists you can get due to tile's massive food yields and the 1-food-per-citizen system, you never really need to build happiness improvements...

Do you think Civ V is doomed?

I like all the revisionist history in this thread. Civ 4 and Civ 3 were even worse games at launch than Civ 5 is currently, I never thought Civ 3 was a good game until Conquests came out and I never enjoyed Civ 4 that much until Beyond the Sword. I'm sure in the future Civ 5 will be a great...

City-States and Maintaining Relations...What's the Point?

Every city you conquer gives you +30% cost to social policies, so if you want a cultural victory you're better off just allying with them and taking the +8 culture per turn they give you.

Civilization 5 Steamworks questions/concerns for inclusion in the FAQ

No, Valve won't have anything to do with Civ 5 at all apart from providing the Steamworks features. Mods will either be downloaded through Firaxis's ingame mod browser or by the same method everyone got their Civ 2/3/4 mods by.

    Civilization 5 and Steam(works)

I'd say it sums up this entire forum, to be honest.

Civilization 5 Steamworks questions/concerns for inclusion in the FAQ

I keep hearing about the World of Goo data being flawed somehow, but I haven't seen any data at all to prove piracy rates are lower than that. They very well may be, but they are without a doubt high enough to cause significant financial harm to PC game developers until some data is presented...

    Civilization 5 and Steam(works)

I've never heard of anyone debating the World of Goo numbers before, and I'm not really sure what you mean by estimating the uncertainty- it was simply a statement by the developers based on the number of verified IPs that connected to their service versus the number that didn't. It's been a...

    Civilization 5 and Steam(works)

I can tell you're not a native English speaker, but saying "the most pirated games" implies that more than one of those games actually used Steamworks. If 5 million people pirated a high-profile game like MW2 and 1 million actually purchased it, then 1 out of every 6 people playing it actually...

Civilization 5 Steamworks questions/concerns for inclusion in the FAQ

This is true, which is why I'll never buy another Ubisoft PC game- their DRM system is simply unnecessarily intrusive. I respect Firaxis for respecting me and using a client like Steam that requires only a single online verification if I should so choose, instead of anything that could actually...

    Civ 5 DRM

It was a joke. The OP has an issue with DRM that makes him be online constantly, I reassured him that he didn't.

    Civilization 5 and Steam(works)

Uh Coyote, none of those games used Steamworks except Modern Warfare 2, and I'd say that game topping the list is more due to how gigantic that game was than any inherent flaws in Steam's copy protection.

Civilization 5 Steamworks questions/concerns for inclusion in the FAQ

It's nothing personal, but data suggests that the average PC gamer will pirate a game if given the opportunity, so there really is no reason to trust the average PC gamer to do the right thing because they aren't, on average, likely to do the right thing.
