Having trouble figure this game out

Okay tried worker/worker settler. Went settler size 2 for commerce with gold and because 3 food flood plains not great. Size 1 worker in city 2 best as growing to 2f1h forest is not great. 2280bc Great Wall built and I can now chop out 1-2 settler. I do need pottery soon. Barb issues zero. I...

Having trouble figure this game out

Barbs should not be too bad on Monarch. I suspect Great Wall is an easy win here as you start with mining. Grab BW/AH/masonry. Start worker chop/grow settler at size 3. Improve food resources. Not sure timing on AH but maybe it gives time for 1 chop? After settler 2nd worker. Grab Rice city. 3rd...

[BTS] Have to be brutally honest

If you want to learn about the game you need to engage more with the people posting here. From your post history you usually do a one line post and stop responding. You can upload the saves. Generally your first build should be a worker. Techs to improve nearby food resources like Corn/wheat...

    Barbarian Challenge #2

It loads fine. Maybe you need the right mod? I am not using steam. In terms of start settling on hills could be important here to fight off any early barbs? 1SW has river protection too. Early archery or you likely die. Then see what monsters are waiting in the mist. Might try this at some point.

    Save or pictures really help.

    How is my start? (Noble)

I would just keep attacking. On monarch level you can roll over map with HA.

Axe rush? Otherwise you don't need all those barracks.Unless you plan an island city where is this 4th city going? Unless you plan to grab the horse. If that is his capital Nottingham will lose the gold when his border pops. Which makes him your first target. I would probably be whipping...

    How is my start? (Noble)

Plains hill with imperialist will work well. Early settler? You could go worker settler here. Pending what other resources you might find. Early BW is also good for chops into settlers. Certainly want agriculture first. With high sea levels you will need to grab land before you get boxxed in...

Nobles' Club 352: Joao II of Portugal

Mined pigs and plains hill starts? At what point does an early settler become a bad idea? I guess if chopping workboats it hardly matter. +2f is not going to greatly speed up a settler. At size 1 12 turn settler once the hill is mined? A chop into a settler adds 30H with traits.

[BTS] Almost destroyed by naval invasion

The ai is capable of just landing with catapults. If it lands with just one it could bombard for the next 50 turns. Nice to see the AI doing a naval attack. You use auto patrol?

    Mid - to late-game questions

Been playing this for fun. I had cuirs by about 860ad. I expanded to 12 cities peacefully using GLH and Colosus. Only scare was when Portugal attacked me 2-3 turns before I had cuirs but his stack was attacking China at the time. One Phant appeared. They quickly went for peace. Attacked Germans...

    How is my start? (Noble)

So Spanish or Koreans. Koreans likely have metal units. Spanish have a shrine. Do they have metal units? You can scout with open borders. 11HA is normally about right. Use one stack. 3-4 stacks makes easy counter attack for the AI. Agree start expansion could of been quicker. I can't fault the...

    Mid - to late-game questions

I clicked on one turn from your initial save of 1505ad and the Germans declared war. That wasn't going to go well with cavalry and rifles. Huge stack was incoming. Cavalry will eat up your cannons. Unless you can attack from a city in large numbers. Should of beelined rifles much sooner. You...

What are the different "types" of games for you, that feel very different and scratch a different itch?

English are not hard you just need to relocate capital if you want to invade Europe. You can easily spam 20+ cities. Egyptians UU is over powering on this map. Mali you likely want to move capital. Their UU is not bad for early rushes. Incans there are ways to make it work but it's a lot of...
