@Negator My advice is, when you first explore the map, figure out how much land you will need to win by whatever (culture needs the least cities, domination needs the most) and tell yourself that you will take this land by whatever means necessary even if it means backstabbing.

I normally chop forests for workers, settlers and early wonders. While it is true that math increases the hammer output, classical era wonders cost more. So the snowball effect of getting workers and settlers sooner normally are better than waiting for math.

It's probably possible to get lib from the oracle even up to monarch depending on the map. I've seen crazy things happen with wonders, for instance the mids going in 1800 AD.... But consistently I would be surprised if anyone could do it on Noble.
