To: Quadruple Alliance
From: Persia

We think that there maybe a more peacfull soultion to this war.

But our main reason for adressing you is we seek to join your alliance after the war with the United States settles down.

We have a deal we want to make but we want to be PMed about it.

Please don't join this war because theres nothing in it for you.

We tried, but the Americans continue to insult our integrity at every turn.

As such, the Quadruple Alliance will defend our integrity. We are welcome for you to join our alliance and prosper.

While we would be happy to accept you into our fold, we feel the United Kingdom would be less then thrilled with that.

OOC:

My thirst of the blood of Yankees is too great. I'm sending my orders now. For the rest of the QA, look in the Social Group. The rest of the plans are up. It's my personal suggestion you all just copy and paste them, for the sake of coordination. Zelet, Julius was going to do that, so if you could just go along with the plans I already had written for him, that'd be appreciated. May the streets of Washington D.C. run red with blood.

Persia has no say in the affairs in the western hemisphere and never will. In addition, Persia has no right to question our declaration of war, for we are a true ally and will fight alongside anyone who we said we would fight with. Unlike the treacherous Brazilians, who quickly turn on their allies before the ink on their treaties even begin to dry, we shall fight and die to protect our allies and friends. We are insulted the bastard Persian government even consider we stand down. We wish the Persian state nothing but misfortune and shall pray daily for your demise.

To Persia
From the United States

We applaud our Persian friends for criticizing the Quadruple Alliance's handling of this war even if they desire to join the above alliance after this war. At least the Persians were willing to work for peace like the United States, our only regret is that you were not a part of this alliance earlier, though being a minor member you probably would not have had much say. We hope the Persian government decides against joining after the war or in any time thereafter, you do not want Europe's bloody history to reach your lands again... and an alliance would force you into such an action that would open your lands to war against enemies of the Quadruple Alliance in the future.

White House
William McKinley gently places the reports on his table and turns to his Generals, "Gentlemen, you know I despise war. That I have fought a tiring and exhausting battle at the table in hopes of avoiding such a war, it appears the Germans, Spanish and their ill fated Alliance never desired peace to begin with. It is now my firm understanding that they wanted a war with us and we have no choice but to respond if we are to survive in the next few years. I have already given my authorization for war that Congress has wanted for the last 9 months and our country is rising up, our recruitment offices are full, our shipyards are filled with countless orders. With this industrial might at our fingertips I cannot understand Germany's or her allies willingness to wage a war across 3,000 miles of hostile sea against a country that could easily surpass their industrial production for the year in a month. War is a confusing subject for a man like me, perhaps Germany sees something that I do not. Nonetheless I am not commanding our valiant soldiers and sailors on our battlefields, I am fortunate to have excellent commanders that will do this in my stead so I am assured that America will survive this conflict. Good Luck Generals and may God be with you."
The Generals saluted and left.
William McKinley turned to look at Washington, the city was in chaos, they knew the Germans would try to come to America, McKinley has already ordered Congress to leave the Capital along with most of the government. Only he elected to remain behind, he sighed and watched as the army moved in and began preparations, similar preparations were going off all around the country, McKinley thought bitterly, at least the Germans would pay a heavy price for invading America. In the distance he heard a distance horn, his aide informed him that it was probably the USS New Jersey and her escorts moving out to join the Task Force. McKinley sighed, is this what Europe really wanted? A bloody war over something that could have been so easily negotiated into small payments to repay America for a ship lost in an European port... America would have gladly paid such a price if one of their ships exploded in Hawaii or New Jersey if it meant avoiding war. He sighed again, such is the business of running a nation.

Houston, Texas
The man slammed his fist into the table, "Goddamn, America is going to war! About time we paid those goddamn bastards for blowing up the Maine!"
The family laughed, their son was already enlisted into the Infantry and was home on leave before being shipped out. Family and friends had gotten together to say a farewell to the young kid from their town who would uphold American honor and help defend it from the dirty Spaniards who blew up an American warship and claimed it was the rebels fault. The American people were smarter than that... they at first sneered their President for trying to be diplomatic about this and demand payment. If Spain accepted they would have raised bloody hell over this. Instead Spain refused and America got ready for war, America got exactly what they wanted, even if the government did not want it. The Texan and his family, filled with patriotism watched with pride as their son danced with a young girl on his last night as a citizen. Tomorrow he becomes a soldier and will fight Spain and her minions in the beaches of Texas and the Bayous of Louisiana. The mother shed a tear, the father showed his friends his new guns that he purchased in case the war came to Houston.

Omaha Nebraska
"Good evening, Gentlemen. I am John Stykes, the President's Transportation adviser. I am here to discuss the issue of transporting our soldiers across your rails from the West to the East in times that not even your express can beat. What can we do to make this happen?"
The Rail Barons looking sharp in their suits and smoking the now banned Cuban Cigars, looked at one another before one spoke, the man owned the Santa Fe Railroad.
"My rails are new and sparsely filled, I can hold the lines for your special troop trains to race to San Antonio, where our line ends. From there I leave them in the capable hands of my good rival in Texas."
"My Texas lines can take them from San Antonio to Houston or even Mobile if needed. If desired I can take them up to St Louis."
The Rail Barons continued to bicker over the government contracts and established schedules and right of ways for troop trains from the west as well as emergency runs to the West if desired. Content he has the transportation issue solved, John Stykes bid his farewell and left for Washington.

We do not appreciate your insult. We value the lives of our people more than some vague notion of duty for a cause we have no stake in. It is unfortunate that you put such small price into the welfare of your people.

Brazil has no honor. May God have mercy on Chile should they go to war, for Brazil will leave them to dry, unless, of course, Brazil can profit off their suffering.

When this war is over, and you have taken into account what you paid in blood and treasure, then you may get back to us and tell us what your honor is worth. We will see if you have the same answer.

We feel that misunderstood us. We aren't telling you have to do anything. And your right about us having no influence in the affairs of the Americas. But what we are saying is that Mexico's only fate should your nation join this war is total occupation by foriegn forces. We are saying this because we don't want to see your nation and it's people fall.

From: Mexico
To: Persia

How can Mexico be occupied if we repulse the European invaders from the continent? How foolish must the Persians be to think that the Mexican people and their glorious leader shall ever lose a fight to the dirty Europeans that dared declare war against us? Should the Persians ever wish to say anything regarding the North American continent, they should either earn the respect of the nations here, or become some sort of power. At the moment, you fit neither of these criteria. So, until that time, we ask that you shove all your comments regarding our continent, or any continent which you have no business in (basically, everywhere except Asia), up your a**, because no one wants to hear you talk.

Oh, and consider Mexico's bid to construct an embassy in your country repealed. We would never forcibly send any Mexican to your vile land.

Dear Mr. William McKinley
President of the United States

I thank you for your trust in me and appointing me as Assistant Secretary of the Navy and I hope I have proven my worth to both the Secretary and yourself. With this war against Spain and her allies now official and in full swing I am offering my resignation and joining the army. I feel I need to provide support in a field capacity than behind a desk and feel it is my destiny to lead soldiers against enemies who dare threaten the United States. I ask for your forgiveness in vacating my office and ask for your blessing in my effort to drive the Europeans back to the old country.

Yours Truly,
Theodore Roosevelt, A. Secretary of the Navy.

To Theodore Roosevelt
A. Secretary of the Navy

I fill with pride to see that even men in government positions would be willing to give up their power and position in government and join their countrymen in the field of battle. If I could do so myself I would have left the White House and joined by your side. I therefore accept your resignation and offer you and your family all the hope and prayer I can muster for you and our countrymen fighting in this war. May they be lucky to serve under such a wise and well educated leader. Good luck and God speed, my good friend.

Yours Truly,
William McKinley, President of the United States.

Félix Faure declared dead
On the morning of February 16, an aid discovered Faure, France’s President, lying dead on the floor, with his personal belongings on his desk strewn around the room, the initial thought was that he was assassinated. After the autopsy was performed the cause of death was set at apoplexy. The Senate of France then set out to vote for the new President, Émile Loubet was chosen as the new President with a vote of 483 to 279 votes from his only serious competitor Jules Méline. Immediately after his election Loubet reassured France’s neutrality in the German-American War, along with a new state of prosperity and stability for the French Republic.

Russian Modernization programs
Russia far lagging behind the other European powers regarding industrial might has begun to modernize it’s economy to become less of a agrarian society and move towards a modern industrial society as seen in America, and Europe. The first of their modernization projects is called “Farms to Factories” it’s goal is to build a series of factories in the larger farming villages turning them into industrial centers, with a goal of attracting unskilled workers from the surrounding villages to build essential industrial goods for Russia. Another part of the Modernization are the tax breaks given to people who are going to start transportation type businesses, such as railroad or factory maintenance.

Troubles in the Mediterranean
Following the outbreak of the German-American war the Italian navy positioned it’s self near the strait of Gibraltar stopping all merchant traffic from entering the Mediterranean. This act severely affected the flow of trade to many nations in the Mediterranean, it also generated massive negative affects to Italy’s world wide image in diplomacy, another side effect of this act is that many companies are boycotting Italian goods for blocking markets in the Mediterranean, causing damage to the Italian economy and massive riots and rallies through out the cities of Italy.

2nd Turko-Russian war ends!
The 2nd Turko-Russian came to and end after the signing of the Treaty of London which stripped The Ottomans of Albania and Armenia making them protectorates of the empire. The Ottomans were also stripped of its Greek Lands (including Crete) handing them over to Greece. The victory was celebrated throughout Greece, the war was seen as a major victory for the Greeks over the Ottoman oppressors, many think this is a signal that the Ottoman Empire is near it’s end. While in Russia the peace was welcomed but many Russians did not see the point of the war in the first place and are just happy to see that this war is over.

The Americas

The American-Quadruple war breaks out
Following a year of increased tensions between The United States and the Quadruple Alliance due the Maine’s explosion war has finally broken out. The war began with simultaneous invasions of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines by American land and naval forces, the invasion forces of Cuba faced staunch resistance by German and Spanish garrisons, while in the Philippines the Americans fared a bit better.

The invasion of Cuba began January 2nd with the bombardment of Havana by the American Caribbean task force, following the Bombardment 98,000 American troops began to row toward the Cuban shore on small wooden row boats. The Spanish and German defenders were expecting them though and the American landing force was met with fierce resistance, German and Spanish artillery rang out aiming for the defenseless wooden boats holding the American troops. After 3 hours of continued bloodshed the American general called off the invasion, after assessing the casualties, thousands of American troops had been killed or injured compared to roughly a thousand Germans and Spaniards, after seeing the bloodshed in Cuba President McKinley cancelled all invasion plans of Puerto Rico and Cuba until further notice.

German artillery firing at the American landing force

On the morning of January 1st the Spanish and German garrisons were awoken by the bombardment of their trenched positions by the American navy. After a few hours of naval bombardment the American invasion force began to row towards land, expecting similar resistance as seen in Cuba, barely any resistance was encountered, the reason for this was because the American naval force was already on route to The Philippines before the war had even started, and sufficient German and Spanish forces had not arrived yet allowing easy access to the beaches by the American forces. After the Americans had secured the beaches they began to advance inland towards the rebel occupied Manila, after weeks of intense fighting the Americans reached the outskirts of Manila (long since captured by the Spanish and their allies) they began to attack the city but were quickly repulsed. The Philippine campaign struggles on as the Americans are slowly pushed back by their lack of supplies and the continued resistance from German and Spanish forces.

Shortly after the American invasion of the Philippines the German Asiatic Fleet along with a couple thousand troops approached the American protectorate of Hawaii. The German fleet entered Honolulu Harbor and demanded the surrender of the islands, the Hawaiians refused and the Germans took action and soon occupied Oahu, Molokai and Maui. At about the same time another German force sailed north towards Alaska and captured Anchorage Alaska, effectively cutting the rest of Alaska from supplies, the colony quickly surrendered.

The German’s main goal of the war from the beginning was to force the American fleet to battle and destroy it, allowing them to control the seas and therefor the supply routes. A few naval battles occurred in the Caribbean the largest of them happening near Norfolk Virginia.

The American fleet was approaching Virginia after hearing reports of German raids on small towns in Virginia, Maryland and Delaware, also it was suggested that German naval forces were bombarding Philadelphia, New York, and Boston causing a massive influx of fear throughout the American East. The American Navy was sent to intercept the German fleet and stop these “Unfair” tactics.

On the 15th of March aboard the American flagship the Uss New York sailors spotted a large force of German dreadnoughts and cruisers in the distance. Admiral George Dewey ordered the American fleet to steam towards the German force at full speed. Once they were in range the American dreadnoughts formed a battle line and began to fire upon the German ships, The battle lasted roughly 1 hour and 36 minutes with the Germans the tactical winner though losing more ships, the Americans retreated back to Norfolk ashamed.

The Mexican Revolution
Following Mexico’s declaration of war against the Quadruple alliance, a large coalition of powerful Mexican politicians began to form a plan to oust Diaz from the Presidency before he drives Mexico into the ground. The plan went off without a hitch, the coalition’s forces moved to convince the military to support them instead of Diaz, the majority of them did choose to support the revolutionaries. Soon after the revolution began the Presidential Palace in Mexico City was raided and Diaz captured and arrested, with a trial to occur sometime next year. The new Mexican government setup Bernado Reyes as President and he immediately discussed peace with the Quadruple Alliance seeing the war as a deathtrap for America, Reyes also began to organize for new elections to be held next year after the country was deemed secure and stable again.

Brazil's form of manifest destiny
Brazil long the most powerful nation in South America began to see it’s self able to emerge as a continental if not worldwide power. Top Brazilian authorities and even many citizens of the country now see Brazil’s opportunity to rule South America, many see America as having fallen from it’s place of power, with Brazil to take it’s place. Many Brazilians want to see their country stretch from the Atlantic to the Pacific and the building of their national railroad only furthers this belief.

The project progressed rapidly as thousands of tons of dirt and rock were moved and carried away, the project is already ahead of schedule and the British investors are pleased to see this.

Persian Governmental Reforms
A new government is beginning to be developed in Persia. The government is supposedly based on the American and British systems of government with a few twists to them. The new system will be introduced into the government after the Shah is dead (plus 50 years). Many of the higher classes view this as a threat to their wealth but majority of Persians agree to these reforms and are aching to see it occur faster.

Ottoman Reforms
A series of reforms and internal development projects are to be introduced in The Empire. The first of them is a modernization and improvement of the Ottoman Army, basing it on the European models, a new form of conscription is to also be introduced based on the current French system. The second of the Ottomans internal development projects is a railway stretching from Baghdad to Constantinople, it expected to take roughly 2 years to complete and is expected to increase economic progress and stability in these regions.
The third of their reforms is a governmental one to make it govern more efficiently.

Belgian exploitation of the Congo
The Belgian government begins a second round of exploitation of The Congo Free state, the main resources they are looking for are diamonds. The main area they search are the Bakwanga region in the Central Congo.
