How much do you hate Atto Ngoogol?

Questions I should answer:

Question for GM: Will there be any items to distribute in this game?

Yes, items most certainly can come up to vote. Somebody could put an item up to vote, or the party could find an item, or if someone dies and an item is recovered it would go up to vote, etc... There are just no items up to vote right now.

edit: actually @ Earthling: since you published Choxorn's alignment, can you publish landlubber's alignment?

Right, I should reveal race and alignment if there's not a reason not to, just missed that. Borin (landlubber) was Neutral-aligned.

Oh, and one other reminder - dead folks don't talk. Choxorn, no more game-related comments or questionings on the game thread here, sorry.

Okay.

No, we're not in the dark. Landlubber asked 2 non-good aligned people to fight along side him with his ability.
Well, we know that two were looked at directly, and one tried to help. We don't know if the one that tried to help was one of the two that were looked at, and we don't know if alignment was the reason the one helped or not, though that is a very reasonable assumption.

Even so, we don't know character alignments or which characters Borin targeted with the ability, so picking characters we assume are strong might not be it at all. That's what I meant about not knowing much.

Everyone is aligned to a faction in this game.

Would it not make sense for the people in Landlubber and Choxorn's faction to aid them?

Nominateing Otto Google and Honorius Cummerbund.

Well I get the impression it was a special ability by Landlubber. Because otherwise that isn't the system of nominations/support. It would be odd for a faction where the entire faction auto-supported each other. Possible, but again, the writing by the GM says 2 people didn't help and 1 did.

I'll try an easy puzzle.

It strikes me that the game was probably designed under the assumption that we'd be reluctant to 'support' people. So perhaps it would be exploitable if everyone supported whoever we nominate, so long as we don't know whether or not we want whoever we nominate to die?

DrumStudent presented something against Millicrescent as well, but given that *many* people have abilities this game it's not necessarily bad that a person was poking into someone else's tent.

I completely agree. I was just stating that for the purpose of stating that something was going on last night, and saying it for the public's general knowledge.

Oh man seems like a lot has happened. My head hurts. I think i stayed up a little bit too late last night. I vomited everywhere. It was a rather manly power chuck if i must so so myself and there was some interesting things in there but I don't remember eating cheese!

Right gimme a few moments for me to compose myself.

and here we go...

There is no doubt that my incredable strength will be key to defeating those elemental thingies and beating up the gnomish midget.

Therefore i nominate myself Bret Pelennon to be todays champion! ALso i support Ngelson. He is too much of a girly-man and i don't want him to end up in my way.

Midday Two

Nothing traumatizing happened to the party throughout the morning, and they continued onward. One of the party who knew something about traveling through these mountains and trade with elven lands saw that there had been a lot of rockslides since the last winter, perhaps some routes were mostly closed off, but they still had the solitary mission of following Ngoogol as far as it took.

There were some members of the party suggested to stand watch for danger or perhaps stay out of the way, depending on the sentiment of others.

There was also a heated discussion and debate between some people trying to recall what they knew about ancient magical lore, to see what may be of any use.

Puzzle Two
Success Bonus: +3 strength for this Day phase
Failure Penalty: +2 strength for this Day phase

Spoiler Easy version :

Five sorcerers in ancient times had founded and promoted traditions of different types of magic. They were sometimes friends though rivals at the same time, as wizards often are. The five Wizards were named Alatar, Brendel, Caius, Damar, and Elhas. The schools of magic which each still have many followers to this day are Divination, Elementalism, Evocation, Necromancy, and Transmutation. Some particularly devoted wizards tend to adopt a specific color scheme for their magic specialty - these colors are Black, Blue, Green, Red, and Yellow, different for each school. In a similar manner, certain gemstones are often used to focus powerful spells of a certain type - with Emeralds, Diamonds, Opals, Rubies, or Sapphires likewise unique to a type of magic. And finally, each type of magic it is felt is best performed at a certain time of day - Dawn, Morning, Afternoon, Sunset, or Midnight.

Many people in the party all seemed to remember certain clues and factoids about these ancient wizards and the schools of magic though, but no one had a full picture.

Can you figure out which wizard hoarded sapphires and what else he preferred?

Facts:

1) Necromancers prefer Black
2) Diviners often use Emeralds to focus their spells
3) Transmuters are said to be Morning people
4) Alatar adored his favorite color, Blue
5) Elhas did his best work at Midnight
6) Damar had no powers of Diviniation
7) Diamonds held a special fascination for Brendel
8) Caius the Evoker...was, well, known for Evocation
9) Either Alatar or Damar preferred to do rituals at Sunset
10) Wizards would have their apprentices polish Opals for Afternoon spellcasting
11) Neither Dawn nor Sunset suit Elementalists
12) The Red rays of the sun at Dawn were said to help the magic practiced then be exceptionally powerful
13) Wizards who dress in Green traditionally do so to reflect the Emeralds they use, but Rubies do not go with Red

The following players must attempt the puzzle. Solutions may be given publicly or to me in private, and anyone is again free to discuss it though even if they don't intend to answer (except the dead)

This was about 23 hours into the day, at the hour just past. Evening update in 25 hours, and watch about getting votes in...

PS: Happy New Year everyone, those who already reached it and just a few more hours for some of us others but have a great 2011.

Enough of the lies, Sprig you are not Bret since I know who Bret is.

So who exactly are you Sprig?

I'm Bret, its pretty simply to understand. I would be wary of other people calling themselves Bret. In any case strangers should introduce themselves first.

I like :p

Puzzle Solution:
Alatar, Elementalism, Blue, Opals, Afternoon
Brendel, Transmutation, Yellow, Diamonds, Morning
Dalmar, Necromancy, Black, Rubies, Sunset
Elhas, Divination, Green, Emerald, Midnight

Which leaves...

Caius, Evocation, Red, Sapphire, Dawn

It would be good if someone else can check this.

SOLUTION (solutions match, looks like we're good)

Alatar Elementalism Blue Opals Afternoon
Brendel Transmutation Yellow Diamonds Morning
Caius Evocation Red Sapphires Dawn
Damar Necromancy Black Rubies Sunset
Elhas Divination Green Emeralds Midnight

Labor intensive, but straightforward. I'd be interested to see the hard version, unless it's likely to come up in a later puzzle and needs to be kept in reserve. ;)

Damar Necromancer Black Rubies Sunset
Elhas Diviner Green Emerald Midnight
Brendel Transmutation Yellow Diamond Morning
Caius Evocation Red Sapphire Dawn
Alatar Elementalism Blue Opal Afternood

I see this boils down to one of those logic puzzles solved with a squares grid that I am quite fond of. I'll return later with my answer.
