NOTW XXXIX: Impending Retribution Game Thread

((GM Note: 12 hour deadline for orders. And I'm missing a bunch, so get them in.))

End Night Phase Four, Start Morning Phase Five

Journal Entry Number Thirteen. 06:00 shipboard time. Eight Days to Port.

A busy night to say the least.

The first order of business was reporting the promotions that happened during the night. Winston Hughes, a recent benefactor of the Lieutenant Commander position went one step higher to Commander. His Lieutenant Commander Position is now vacant. Second, Seaman Apprentice classica_hero was now in the Commissioned Ranks with a promotion to the vacant Lieutenant Junior Grade position. Rounding out the changes was Renata, taking the Chief Warrant Officer, Four slot from thomas.berubeg. thomas.berubeg is now a Petty Officer 2nd class.

The good news of the day was the repair work done around the ship. The Bridge was repaired down to 20% damage during the night, thus allowing the systems inside to go back online. The Electrical Room received attention as well and was also repaired down to 20% as well, and the security systems that protect the secure compartments were back online. Finally, the Deck received some care as well, and while it was only patched to 50% damage, it was enough to stop the chronic leaking into the hull that had plagued the ship the past two nights. Still though, more had leaked in during the repair work, but no more would enter the ship providing the Deck remained undamaged.

More good news arrived when the displays in the Bridge and CIC reported the Aegis Weapons System was now online. The ship once again had defensive capabilities. As a side effect, the offensive capabilities of the ship are now online as well.

It was not all-good news however. The Intelligence Room suffered some damage during the night. More grim news arrived in the form of deaths, one of which was a high-ranking officer.

Commander God Emperor had been peacefully sleep in the Galley when it would seem he had been murdered. Two bullets in the chest and another in the head marked the kill in the same vein as the others. On his person was an Assault Rifle and a Navigation Override Card, both of which would be up for vote today. Further scanning his belongings revealed nothing incriminating, and it was determined that

Spoiler :
God Emperor was innocent.

Also missing was the pirate askthepizzaguy. He was found in the Sick Bay with a large gaping hole in the side of his head. However, missing was the other two bullets in the chest which probably meant a different killer than the three-bullet murderers. On his possession was a Key to the Sick Bay, and nothing else was found to suggest that askthepizzaguy was anything other than innocent.

Spoiler :
askthepizzaguy was innocent.

Also missing was choxorn, but a search of the ship revealed the sailor in the Engine Room and critically injured. The remnants of a claymore explosive in the surrounding area suggested it had exploded when choxorn entered the area. He was rushed to the Sick Bay and stabilized. It would be two days before he could do any activity again unless some care was focused on him.

Lastly, another Crate was found on the Deck. Same deal as before, it would be voted on during the course of the day.

 I saw that one coming. Tell me you didn't all see that one coming.

I toooooold you sooooooooooo............

In light of askthepizzaguy’s death, I can only surmise that he was on the right path. Nictel to the brig for some questioning.

Well, other than the deaths, that was a pretty good night. I, Autolycus think that I would be a good choice to receive the navigation card, as I have performed notable service in returning this ship to a functional state, as Captain Methos and two of the Chief Warrant Officers know. Methos has clearly done a good job distributing the contents of the crates thus far, as evidenced by the success of repairs, I think he should be allowed to continue to do so. I will reserve my opinions on the other items until later.

I also have some questions for Mr. DaveShack. Why the last minute vote to send JHT to his death? You have been anything but careful this whole time to check vote counts before weighing in. This literally last minute vote has me wondering about your allegiance.

FOS: DaveShack

I'm not sure what explains the decrease in number of kill attempts and sabotage. I encourage whoever has ideas on this to bring it forward or at least tell an officer like our Captain as a proxy, if some bad guys were blocked last night, otherwise looks like we have a small lead on choxorn to imprison or execute if he was trying to sabotage the Engines.

I think Methos can have the crate, and for the rest of the crew we're going to need a little talk later on following security protocol here on out but I'll let others have their say if they have information to put forward.

ATPG has been shot with a large caliber weapon that is best fired single-shot... perhaps a revolver?

In any case, A KEY TO ZE SICK BAY?! MY SICK BAY?! VAT IS ZIS IDIOCY?!

I WANT ZE KEYS.

I'd put down the decrease in sabotage to the death of the saboteur TheForestAuro. The only night we'd had since his death was the party.

PO1 Darth Caesar really needs to step up to his duties. I see him wander the decks, but he never seems to say anything. Or do anything, at least by daylight.

OOC: He hasn't voted since day 1, but he's posted on other threads. I'm sending him a message right now to remind him he's in this game, in case he somehow forgot. If he doesn't speak up, he should at least be brigged.

Attention! :salute: Whatever rank I am Darth Caesar reporting for duty! Abstain until I get to see what's going on!

There, you are, Darth Caesar. Now, let me see if I can get thomas.berubeg and civplayah to speak up.

I hear a thumbtack to the soft parts often does the trick.

I am exceptionally pleased to see that everyone did his claimed repair last night, including Nictel. I feel like I can breathe again. However, given that number of three-bullet kills dropped to just one for the second time, I'd like to see what he has in his pockets.

(And, never doubt the Pizza guy when he's a known innocent.)

The point that worries me still is the awkward and surprising vote patterns of last evening. This last minute swing reeks of careful planning and execution.

In the meantime, the Crate can go to Renata, and I don't care about the other items.

"Yes lets all ignore the repairs I did and the fact that choxorn was doing mischief in the Engine Room."

The repairs are sort of the point, Nictel. You did repairs, only one person wound up with three bullets in him. If you're being framed, the killers must have an unusually strong motive to do so, to make such a sacrifice.

"For convenience of the crew I have tabulated this work in multiple languages and forms, as some of you seem to rather have troubles with Command’s standard Navy protocol. However I hope we can now be certain everyone will take heed of this notice and read through it read carefully."

*The officer posts a notice with some of her own handwriting filled neatly in*

Pirate:

Avast mateys! Ye be needing reminders of the Pirates’ Code!

There will be no looting on ye own pirate ship. Any pirate caught stealing the ship’s treasure walks the plank.

No one goes ‘round the ship at night without the say-so of the Captain or a fiercer pirate, or else ye walk the plank.

Any lost pirate goes somewhere no one knows where he be, WILL BE EATEN BY THE KRAKEN

Any pirate takes a lubber friend around with him where he shouldn’t be, his friend will draw trouble and YOU WILL BOTH BE EATEN BY THE KRAKEN.

Any man got the guts to say ye have a problem with this, ye best bring it up now, before ye walk the plank later. Aye.

Command Naval Vessels Security Regulations, Subsection 17:

†No sailor is permitted to access areas aboard a CNV they do not have standard authorization to. In exceptional circumstances a superior officer up to and including the Captain must give authorization for a sailor’s activities.

No more are we to have anybody going anywhere except the public areas without telling where they are going. I would suggest refusal to do so is grounds for imprisonment. Sailors who inform me or their superiors in advance of their intentions will be shown appropriate leniency and a fair hearing even if found in the midst of sabotage or other crises, but anyone found somewhere nobody knew they would be must be treated with great suspicion.

†Sailors are not permitted to grant other sailors unauthorized access anywhere aboard a CNV, pursuant to the above. Possession of a Key or authorized access by a superior officer is for the benefit of a single sailor alone. Only officers of Lieutenant grade and higher have the discretion to establish access protocols for others related to their responsibilities onboard their vessel.

DO NOT unlock compartments or take another person with you anywhere at night without permission of an appropriate officer, no matter what your reason is, even if you think there’s no harm going to the galley with your friend to get a sandwich.

†Access to secure areas onboard larger CNVs is managed through encrypted locks. An officer or technician stationed aboard your ship will be responsible for distribution of keys with access codes to crewmen. Sailors must secure their own keys whenever not on one’s person and follow all directions for cycling through and renewing access passcodes on the timetable set by Command. In all cases a sailor is to report any aberrations through this chain of command. All aberrations are to be reported to your encryption technician and superior officers.

I am the technician responsible for maintaining the secure lock system aboard the Impending Retribution. Our warship contains many critical systems that must be handled only by the appropriately experienced personnel and on top of that we must maintain the safety and security of the crew. Unfortunately this system was been hacked and remains rather badly compromised since the crisis with the death of the late Captain Whitower began. I can’t say whether the saboteurs, rogues, or both groups have additional holds on our security systems in their attempts to take over or destroy the ship. Regardless, we should be keeping very close track of “KEY” items and ensure they are not being used by rogues or saboteurs. Anyone who has possession of or knows of other key items on the ship right now should inform me and our higher officers immediately.

Thank you and we’ll get through this yet if we keep our heads.
