Unit Request Thread

Hi, I have just released my mod: Kingdom of Kongo (can be downloaded here)
The UU for Kongo is the Pombo, an elite scout unit that replaces the pikeman. I have a symbol for it: but currently uses the Mohawk Warrior for the 3d art.
If anyone could make the 3d art for it it would be great, and I could make some 2d art in return.

The unit is quite simple,
3d moddeling:Use the spearman, Remove Shield, Remove helmet, change spear-tip.

It should look like something like this:



Is it anyone that feel up for it?
 
What ever happened to regicide? In civ 3 we had it. I miss it now. I believe it should be implemented soon. The concept should consist of the KING and his Queen. These two units should be allowed to move through out the map. Now if the player has built a city whose Cultural Capital is emphasized on Gold production or SCIENCE etc... the Queen would boost these city- or even empirewide effects. The King should be allowed to move like a GREAT GENERAL and have the healing effect of 3 hp. However, if the Queen is kidnapped the enemy gains a War boost and money plus culture points for each turn she is in their pocession. If the king is killed the empire goes into CHAOS/ ANARCHY for 5 turns and the player is only allowed to use his Units to defend the empire. While the King has been killed the Empire still stays in effect till all his or her Cities are CONQUERED. Also, if the Capital is captured the KING has the unique ability of claiming a New one.If the previous Capital is recaptured all of its advancements are destroyed except for Wonders. By having these units in the game as mentioned can have a very good strategic "Art of War" effect in the game.
 
I encourage! conversion of World War II units of all types from civilization IV, I am working on a WW2 mod every unit both already here and future ones that I use will be credited. Your work will not be unnoticed, keep creating more! :)

I know there a several mods for this out there, but I would feel bad stealing graphics from them without asking here first.

Space Marine units
 
A hot air balloon would be a great fist air unit! Some one should do it, it would be quite easy because they don't have much details.

I think that they should have a quite weak attack but a lot of movement. Their purpose should be to increase nearby artillery's range and maybe damage. They should of course be able to hover over mountains like helicopters.
I think that they should be available with scientific theory.
And they could be upgraded to Zeppelin's, which would be even cooler!

I doubt anyone here will be willing to do this or even be able to do this... but I'll ask anyway just incase someone may actually make it.

I would like (for a proper future era infantry unit) a BF2142 soldier to act as a Future Era replacement for the Paratrooper unit, (unlocked when the "Nanotechnology" technology has been researched) specifically the European Union - Recon class - Sniper specialist.

For Nutty or anybody willing to do some reskin : here is a french fusilier from 1815.

Apparently, Fusiliers were musketmen (fusil=flintlock). Apropos, my wife is reading the Sharpe novels by Bernard Cornwell, and she tells me that Napoleon didn't like rifles because they took too long to load.

But I tried to make a Fusilier anyway. However, I'm having a problem that I hope someone can help me with:

Any unit I edit with Blender, even if it looks good in Granny Viewer and Nexus (which is something in itself), is invisible in-game.

I can't figure it out.

Anyway, here's all the units I've been working on:

  1. 95th Rifles (English) and Fusilier (French) riflemen BETA (retexture, revised model) - This is my first attempt at Blender. I coaxed the spiked helmet from bernie14's German Rifleman into a shako with a pom-pom something like your pic, Hulfgar. Like I mention above, it looks pretty good, but doesn't work in-game. While I was at it, I slapped together an English 95th Rifles one, too.

  2. Swiss Guard pikeman BETA (retexture) - Retex of the vanilla pikeman unit. When I discovered a few relatively hi-res TGAs of unit textures in the CiV art resources, including the Pikeman and the Arcabucero, I got the crazy idea for a Swiss Guard unit. I want to swap out the helmet for a conquistador's, but until I figure out why I can't get Blender to work right, I'm not going to try tackling that. But I put this together anyway as a starting point. (SEE ATTACHMENT or DOWNLOAD HERE)

  3. French longswordsman (retexture) - Complete, though I'm not thrilled with it. Retex of bernie14's German Longsword Templar. (SEE ATTACHMENT)

  4. Knight Templar longswordsman (Civ4 model) - Complete. I applied the textures from Jaythekiller's conversion to bernie14's German Longsword Templar (making the animations better than the conversion, at the cost of losing the shield). I probably recreated the wheel, as bernie14 would have had to have created this unit as an intermediate step to creating his beautiful version. But it was easy to do with the work I had done with the French longswordsman. (SEE ATTACHMENT)

I didn't tryed any units convertion yet, but could they spawn under the ground ? or be in a very small scale ?

Yes that's right. But I love the look and colors of the Infantry of the main Countries from the Napoleonic era.

What you did looks great, perhaps you could post your beta files so that people can try to solve your problem ?

It doesn't surprise me, Napoleon was an Artilleryman and liked the power of canons and heavy cavalry.
From what I know : French Infantry was not used very well : they would mostly charge at the ennemy which could be very impressive if the ennemy was not well disciplined.
Sadly for the french troops the english infantrymen were disciplined and very effective at firing!
 
Here's something a bit different (and maybe a little more of a challenge) guys:

I'm requesting unique embarkation graphics for all the Asian and Middle Eastern civs (as in one graphic for all Asians and one graphic for all Middle Eastern) - prior to the industrial era.

You'd have to make sure the Arab one didn't clash too much with the Caravel (which was actually based upon the Arab design in history).
 
ok.....i do not want to hijack this thread so i made a new one HERE.....

i want to take requests for riflemen,.....i think i will be able to produce some fine quality diverse units and i want to take requests.....the "rules" are in the thread :D
 
I'm making a future mod for this game, and have pretty much finished, but I could really use some new units rather than the pre-existing ones. I made an attempt at it, but just found that i couldnt make any units at all, no matter how simple the unit:p. If it is possible for somebody to make these models, that would be a big help to me and others making future mods.
Land
On Foot - Could use a Cyborg unit and maybe even an infantry unit using the nanosuit from Crysis.
Vehicles - Need a futuristic artillery, tank, apc and chopper style units

Sea
Need Destroyer, Battleship, and Submarine style units

Air
Need a nuke, guided missile, Bomber and Fighter style units

As long as they are somewhat futuristic in design & animations (like the Death Robots' beam gun thing), i would be quite happy to get whatever anybody could make using their own creativity. Thank you.
 


It would be ,so cool if someone could make this and put it into a mod as a new unit.
There is no reel need for it but sure everyone agrees with me when I say, IT LOOKS AWSOME :)

With this unit I would really fear Russia...
 
This is definitely not the right place for this. If you want to make unit requests, there's a Unit Request thread over in the Unit Models subforum. I'll flag this post, and hopefully a moderator can merge it into that thread.

Also, don't hold your breath, there are some significant problems with adding new models right now.

EDIT: To be clear, this comment was from the old thread, before it was merged with this one. This IS the right place, now.
