How can I break this to you...... Urmmm..... you got rather.... occupied.

Your dead, Jim.

New rule coupled with my increasing boredom/apathy/whatever is causing me to ask if any of you lurkers would like to take over Siam.

Lurker's Comment - I would if this wasn't page 123 of the game...

OM: 1908 Olympic results are in.

GM: I have decided to redo the battle tables, which should make it a bit easier and quicker for me, by using Excel, so they will look a bit different again.

Spoiler :

I have set it so I can add or remove attacker and defender columns, but at least battle calcs should now take no more than 5-10 minutes as opposed to 20-30 minutes because of the manual calcs and formatting

I wonder why I did not think of it sooner. <derp>

GM: Orders locked - Good luck

NOTE: I will also be using my new battle template, whereby each nation will now get their own RNG Roll as opposed to one for all forces. Which I think you will agree is fairer for all nations involved.

It organized and deployed the first Texan aviation unit, the 1st Aero Squadron.

Commentary
Spoiler :

Global
While the world was ablaze, you'd hardly think that it would have time to send athletes to the 1908 Montreal Olympics. But they did and unusually U.S.S.R. took the medal honours. A conference organised by Canada, quickly degenerated into a farce, with old wounds being brought up. The hopes of peace have faded.

The populace are slowly adjusting to this war but tire of it and the people are less productive, while it drags on. Maybe it will end soon they say, meanwhile the world continues to burn, in Africa, South America, Asia and Europe. Only North America seems to be spared.

For more commentary see the Battles section as appropriate when in times of war ;)

GM: Each new city named in CAPS and BOLD in national commentaries will get 10 extra cultural points. This rule will continue as I add more cities to the map.

Battles
Spoiler :
The war against Swaziland and France continued.

The Congress of nations had secured the South Atlantic, Caribbean, SE Pacific, NE Pacific, South Pacific, Arabian Sea, Norwegian sea and the Indian Ocean. So no battles were fought in these waters.
Spoiler :

CSA decided to try to attack France on its own.
Spoiler :

However, France had reinforced it forces with Swazi Armies and was very easily able to repel the forces.

Undeterred, the congress also tried a massive assault on South Africa, with three nations.
Spoiler :
And this time the Swaziland forces were extremely prepared and repelled this assault as well.

Emboldened by its success Swaziland decided to recover the land it had lost in Maghreb.

Spoiler :
Which it was able to do quite easily.

Meanwhile, in spite of it dire domestic situation, Xi'an was forced to deal with a rebellion within its own borders.
Spoiler :
which it was able to to quite successfully.

Southern Han, also had to deal with its own issues in Shanghai and attempted to dislodge Swaziland outpost in Shanghai.
Spoiler :
However Swaziland managed to raise a local army that was won over by the opportunities offered by a new government, keen to help them get ahead.

Medina and Spanish Yakutsk, then had final assault on Russia.
Spoiler :
And again Russia was able to only give up a small amount of territory. What would be the next move by the Communists ? A secret meeting in Siberia for peace who knows.

The Soviets founding city also rebelled and then looked to U.S.S.R. for help.
Spoiler :
But, Medina would have none of that and quickly put paid to those plans.

Greece wanted to avenge Turkey for joining the war against its protector Swaziland. But it failed to raise the funds to buld more armies as it had to make a loan repayment to the IMF and it also had to first defeat the Turkish navy.
Spoiler :
. However, a couple of destroyers were no match for a fleet of battleships.

Texas had convinced its allies to help it retake Chile.
Spoiler :
. But instead of a huge force awaiting, Swaziland had stripped the land of its factories and the militia put up a half-hearted defence and then surrendered.

Swaziland and France were determined to give the congress of nations huge payback and sent their fleets into the North Atlantic.
Spoiler :
The battle was a close one, but was not decisive and some parts of the North Atlantic were not cleared, so any further action had to be called off.

So Swaziland and France decided to continue with their other plans of clearing Spain and Portugal of the Congress forces and returning them to France.

With a massive attack around the Pyrenees it managed to breakthru
Spoiler :
and also move onto Portugal
Spoiler :
and secure Iberia for France again.

France encouraged by its success in Iberia, got a bit cocky and decided it could also deal with Germany on its own. However, Librulstan decided it would help in Germany's strong defensive position called the Northern Fortress.

Spoiler :
So France was easily repelled.

Similarly Swaziland decided it would also try to take back provinces it had lost previously.

Ethiopia also offered its armies to the cause, which helped it manage to take Angola
Spoiler :
But the assault stalled in Zambia.
Spoiler :
Out of Shanghai, the Swaziland forces attacked Sichuan, but thinking the local populace would be easily overcome, it set out to try to cross to Tibet.
Spoiler :
But the local population proved stronger than expected and stalled the advance.

After recovering from the assault on Scandinavia, it thought the time was right to try retake Germany. So using its Librulstan allies to take the bulk of the punishment it counter-attacked. With France having been repelled in its previous attack, it was just licking its wounds when the assault came.
Spoiler :
There was really nothing France could really do to stop it.

GM: Any battle errors are to considered the fortunes of war.

"Friends, you may remember that eight years ago our traitorous, former government dismantled our glorious empire. If you don't remember, then all you have to do is to look in the face of the average Bosnian. In his face is defeat, despair, dejection, and a need to bring destruction to those who have wronged our nation for indeed, my friends, there are TRAITORS living right under our noses!"

The Leader raises his hands and lets the crowd's boos wash over him, loving that their anger can be directed so easily.

"We will return our country to greatness.

By any means necessary."
