NIGHT EIGHT
Once more, security at the Springfield jail was not up to par, as an outsider snuck in during the dead of night.
He found
mayor at his cell and was equipped with plenty of tools to quickly break him out.
"I'm glad you're here, someone needs to do something about the way this place is run. I'm appalled at the poor treatment and unhealthy conditions in this prison. Hee hee heh heh heh."
"Some other time, dude. We gotta go."

After an eventful day, Visorslash had just managed to settle down everything for the night. At his gated mansion in Springfield Heights, and with a supposedly trustworthy alarm system, he drifted off to sleep, anticipating the next day.
However, his dreams would never come to pass as an obsessed madman had countered every security measure and then some in a devious plan to harm him.
Visorslash awoke to see a masked man with a glistening array of objects spread out on the floor before him. He wasn't going to go without a fight, though, when trying to scramble away it was purely by chance that he was first struck struck with a device jerry-rigged to deliver massive electric shocks.
This sent Visorslash nearly into cardiac arrest. His attacker was spooked by the sudden result as well, and abandoned his other schemes just to leave the man to his excruciating fate. He left as mysteriously as he had arrived, except with an insidious chuckle that he couldn't seem to stifle.
It was very fortunate that the absence of Visorslash was noted by several other people before the town meeting the next morning, and emergency medical teams found him alive in his house, though he would need extensive recovery time.
The carnage wasn't over for this night, however. In another senseless act of violence, a man was opened up on by a shooter near a motel with many witnesses.
TheLastDays was left unconscious and bleeding.

In the morning, the casualty report was hard enough for some citizens to hear. Yet there was more - shocking revelations from the authorities after evidence was uncovered about recent hospital patients.
Firstly, one more person who had been attacked at night had never done or meant anything bad. Poor Skwink was an upstanding Springfieldian and her family and friends grieved for the harm done to her.
However, special investigators had something else entirely to report about the men injured in front of the town three days ago.
Both were in stable condition and would continue to stay at the hospital for the time being. They had given doctors their information and their rights were respected otherwise, though there were some cordial discussions about the criminal crisis in Springfield.
It wasn't until one patient was found out of bed, trying to secretly contact the other during the night that anyone knew something was amiss. From there followed further interviews, including some outside specialists as the Springfield Police Officer was questioned about details pertaining to his job. He admitted that a sense of direction in the local police department was woefully lacking and regulations were often ignored, along with several alleged cases of corruption.
Though he insisted that nothing culpable would be found, the inconsistencies in his story and that of the rambling old man's pointed to something disturbing. It was then discovered that both men were part of a group that secretly aimed to undermine Springfield's laws and customs, taking advantage of this crisis to abuse power.
With these facts on their minds, the town set itself to the task of catching out remaining members of yet another criminal group.
