There was clear suspicion by the time the afternoon rolled around that something was wrong with Zack. The people of Springfield didn't trust him, and the mob turned to violence.
Zack tried to reason with them, reaching out to the kindness in many people's hearts, but this was drowned out by a high-pitched voice screaming, "Kill! Kill!"
However, he had one last trick up his sleeve. Running towards an open field, he disappeared into a mysterious structure.
"No! He's got access to a time machine!" Someone shouted.
This was not really true. Though Zack was fleeing from Springfield entirely in his ship, and they would be unaware of his fate.

I agree wholeheartedly; I just have taken a position recently that lynching bad townies makes for a bad town. Lynch good scum instead.
Zack was a good scum hiding as a bad townie. That was genius; really fooled me... it implied he didn't care about the game. I usually try to play the good townie when I'm scum.
That said, I was suspicious of him when he was like YOU GUYS, THE PEOPLE BEING JAILED AREN'T GIVING US THE RIGHT RESULTS DONT YOU SEE!?!?!
Because that did feel like inside knowledge rather than brilliant deduction. He otherwise seemed apathetic. Brilliant deduction and apathy don't mix well. It implies deception.
Why didn't I latch onto that? I'm really not on my game.

NIGHT THIRTEEN
Another unfortunate victim was caught out on the streets. What Autolycus was doing out so late might remain unknown, but there was no question what the masked man hiding in the bushes was waiting for.
When it was clear there were no witnesses in sight, he ran out and struck Autolycus with his blunt weapon. Once again, the victim would survive, but not without much pain.

Along with this news, the town was informed in the morning about the results of an extensive investigation into the actions of the twice-hospitalized BSmith1086. BSmith would remain safely recovering in the hospital for the time being.
Amazingly, after all the struggles he'd been through BSmith was found to have no ties at all to the existing criminal groups who started this crisis. He was his own man and enjoyed living in Springfield.

With numbers continuing to dwindle, another day would perhaps decide if the criminal threat could be finished for good.
