Not the most convincing denial I ever heard, but the fact that you weren't the one who tried to kill me last night is evidence enough to get you off the hook. I also know that it wasn't General Olaf who attacked pizza the night before, while classical_hero looks to be cleared of exploding NinjaCow, since he was in jail at the time. NC's time in hospital did not clear of any attacks (actually they resumed only after he was released), but if he's scum, he can't be the only one. Aside from being attacked himself, his being hospitalised ought to have ended the game if he was the last remaining villain.

So, unless someone wants to claim credit for a vigilante action in one of those attacks, then the only people who could be the final villain are landlubber, mechaerik and G3tC. While it's very possible that there are more villains remaining, we've seen three Scratchians, three Conspirators, and two Shelbyvillians, so it's not unreasonable to think that a third Shelbyvillian might be our last scummer. In any case, I can't be arsed to think about the possibility of multiple villains, so this is what I'm going with.

G3tC's performance early on, when he seemed quite reckless in his lack of concern for being a suspect, counts in his favour for me. On the other hand, he's an admitted killer who claims to have simply forgotten about the game, which is deeply suspect.

mechaerik has generally kept his head down, and has responded in a rather unsatisfactory way to my demands for information. In the absence of a full account of his actions and results to date, it's hard to give much credence to his claim.

landlubber, meanwhile, has been a good contributor (by the low standards of this game), and was the one person to give a decent account of himself at the first time of asking. I'm a little concerned by his claim to have failed to create any new inventions in all this time, and by the whole item-passing affair with jht. But it stands in his favour that he performed an action on Daveshack (a Shelbyvillian) on N3, when Dave was hospitalised. There might be actions other than protection that one scum would use on a teammate, but that would seem less likely that the alternative.

For now, I'm gonna say Jail: Gone 3 the Celt.

Just looked through, I didn't investigate G3C twice, I investigated johnhughthom twice.

What type of investigations are they?

Quick notice -the voting cutoff was 1200 US Eastern time, that will be reflected in the tally too but for anyone who has not been paying close attention to the tally spoilers- update on the way.

It was not a pleasant day for the remaining people gathered at town hall. Some among them had been the villains who had caused all this harm them and many other citizens going about their day to day lives in Springfield.

Today another suspect would be chosen, the mob had grown to accustomed to its lynchings to stop on a whim, but there was no consensus as to whom it would be.

Several individuals accused others, and there was no authority to make a real decision.

As it was getting late, the rest of the crowd broke the gridlock by simply choosing the closest and most convenient victim for the violence.

"Is this all that's left? Taking out your frustrations on anyone at a guess? We've taken this witch-hunt too far!" mechaerik was left with no hopes of resisting them



Once again the small number of citizens departed for the night.

There weren't exactly any convincing leads, but I kind of wish it hadn't been mech who got lynched.

NIGHT TWENTY-ONE​

With so few of Springfield's most active and prominent citizens left, there were good chances nobody would even see another person on the streets going about their own business.

After the day's meeting many citizens had in fact kept to themselves for the night, anyone else leaving no trace of what they might have been doing.

Fortunately, no one was assaulted or injured and the lack of authority in the town would not have more problems to deal with come morning.


People were getting used to news from the hospital, a lot of it depressing. While there was some bad news today there was fortunately a positive report on one man's status.

First, citizens learned that serious investigations into all aspects of the office of the mayor had been concluded. They had found that askthepizzaguy had not been involved with any of the criminal activity and even those who disagreed with his politics showed their sympathies, wishing for his eventual recovery.



On a better note, Jarrema had been recovering rapidly from the violence he suffered a couple days prior. Doctors kept him for observation one more night but saw no reason not to clear him. Other than a few scars, he was as healthy as ever, and eager to return to Springfield and his fellow citizens.



Despite this news, all evidence still indicated the remaining criminal threat had not been defeated, so another critical decision would be made by the citizens today.
