It was quite an eventful end of the Festival of Quetzalcoatl. They left the blood of Prinz von Perzien dry on the steps of the Palace Pyramid, and as flies started to gather, the smell of blood brought about a band of Barbarians. Their female Amazon leader was a frightsome sight, and since our Jaguar Warriors had already moved out, it was up to the impromptu City Militia to act as vigilantes and disperse the raiding villains. We captured the Amazon leader and learned that her name, indeed, was Barbara. Her head now serves as the top of the scarecrow in my garden that Acalan has tended to so well.

Unfortunately, although things go well in the Capital, some of our people have neglected to look after themselves in the jungle. I was brought an emaciated corpse that we identified as Mixtli. As per my promise, we lowered him down to the moat of the Palace. The crocs made short work of their lunch.

I and Joatzli have started to equip another Jaguar troop to escort the settlers that want to leave the city to found a new town west of here. I wish them the best of luck. The news from the Jungle tell of great hordes of barbarians and other peoples are fighting them as well. Our troops have suffered some losses, but I hope they persevere!

Ipalnemoani looked approvingly as the head of Prinz von Perzien was fixed to a stake outside his front door. But unfortunately revelling in veangence has its price, Ipalnemoani toils for his subsistence.

There is grave news reaching us from the Jungle. The 1st Company Jaguar Warriors, in their haste to move out, ran again heavy Barbarian opposition. From what I understand, Liutenant -ahem- Captain Sparthage is the only survivor, undoubtedly due to his training regimen that has made him strong. Now, with his supply line cut off, he goes starving in the wilderness. Fortunately he is in good health so he can sustain lack of food, so the messenger tells me. This raises doubts however, as to whether or not there will be found barbecued remains of the rest of the Company. As I recall, one of the soldiers was named "Donner".

My thoughts are with the memory of the late Captain Tonauac. For Atzlan, he sacrificed more than just the head of another peasant - his own.

I wish the best of luck to the Settling troop headed south in the protection of our new Jaguar unit. these men are however very inexperienced, and it remains to be seen if the pioneers are successful in finding a place to live.

I will retire to meditate the improvement of the Nation. I will accept audiences from concerned Peasants and Citizlan, to discuss these matters. A professional Worker to improve the production of food and resources would benefit us greatly, I think.
