The Wild Wild West: A Small Mafia Game

END OF DAY 9

BigTin sat there, quietly snoozing, as he had been for the past several days. It was almost like something out of a fairy tale, the way his beard had slowly grown without anyone to shave it.

He was still asleep as the group dragged him to the gallows. As they pulled him up the steps, something fell out of his jacket.

The mayor picked it up. "It's a six-shooter!" he exclaimed. "And it only has three shots left! That cinches it!"

After the hanging, the town made their way to where BigTin had been staying. The items scattered around his room, as well as the convicting mask were evidence that

Spoiler :
BigTin was a Desperado!

"We've almost got them! Stay safe tonight!" said the mayor gleefully.

Verarde, you really should have just WoG'ed him by now. I know that it sucks to WoG mafia or important characters, and a game ending because of one is anti-climatic, but inactives need to be either replaced or WoG'ed, regardless of what their role is. They don't deserve to win by doing nothing, and a team doesn't deserve to lose becuase someone on the opposite team is doing nothing.

I hear you, and don't worry, I will be making a full post that will detail why I chose not to WoG him.

I hear you, and don't worry, I will be making a full post that will detail why I chose not to WoG him.

You probably chose not to WOG him since after you do, town lynches JD and the ending is anticlimactic.

TigBitties, you've disappointed me for the last time. Those cups are so small.

Ok listen. The last phase had 6 people.

If there were JD, BigTin, and another, that would have been mafia victory.

Therefore.

JD is the next lynch regardless. He is the final mafioso, by 100 percent mathematical certainty.

As such, I can now reveal I was lying about my ability. I was trying to get murdered to spare a more useful role.

I can stop a lynch, once. That's it.

And, as I said before, that ability is pretty much worthless for a townie to have. This is why I chose not to use it ever.

I disagree there. It can be used to stop a lynch on a townie power role, if you know them, and the town is ignoring the claim. Or on yourself.

1. I have no way of knowing whose townie power role claims are truthful or not. I could be stopping a lynch on a mafioso who is inventing fiction. The only way town wins is by lynching scums, and scums often claim power roles to dodge lynches. I'd have to be pretty darn sure, and there's really no way for me to be pretty darn sure. We all saw what happened in Capo and in Star Wars when town couldn't lynch who they wanted dead. We lynched the same townie three times to get him dead, and were massively disappointed to find out he was a townie. What a bother. Town would have been better off if the first mislynch happened, so there wouldn't be a second or third one.

2. Stopping a lynch on myself will only encourage the town to think that I am guilty and waste a second lynch on me. That's two mislynches for the price of one, plus a hefty, hefty dose of distraction.

There are some situations where it could be useful, they're just highly unlikely to happen, and did not happen in this game.

END OF NIGHT 9

The mayor couldn't help but see the very few people who were left. There were so few,it was obvious who was missing. Today, it was DaveShack.

With a now ritual long walk to the missing's house, they made their way in, not even bothering to knock.

And of course, there was DaveShack, dead where he was sitting.

Spoiler :
DaveShack was Innocent!

"This is it. We must find them today and end it. If we do not," said the mayor gravely, "It could have terrible consequences for the world."

I can admit I lied too. I'm not really a vanilla townie, I'm just a townie with no abilities. [I don't see where you lied pizza; you said you can stop a lynch, and you can? what's the lie?].

Also any non vanilla role is useful, if not to see just the format of the role PM. I would rather have a PM that says "abilities: 5 times per game you may eat a piece of chocolate. Upon eating the 5 pieces of chocolate, you can get 1 cavity" than "abilities: none".

I don't really get the philosophy of "trying to get killed" by the mafia. iirc there was a game where either you [pizza] or somebody else on cfc had night kill immunity as a townie and got lynched at some point and was trying to do something like "act scummy" to try to get the mafia's attention. Whereas it would be better to just not say anything and the mafia would naturally target for a night kill at some point.

since your claim is true, I don't think the mafia would place high relevance on a lynch-stopper. They'll target other people.

I think I spun some yarn about how often I could do it. I know I didn't roll out the claim honestly from the start. It headed in that direction as needed, but I'm not one who believes that truth will always set one free.

I don't like cavities.

I don't really get the philosophy of "trying to get killed" by the mafia.

That's okay. It is the same philosophy as trying not to get killed, only in reverse. Whichever outcome is better for your team is the strategy you go for. It didn't work this time, but to no great detriment to the town. Had it worked, one more power role that has a use. I stand by the move as legit.

I'll remember that the next time I'm a doctor or a vigilante. ;)

If I can manipulate the actions of an unseen, unknown enemy, in any way, by pure psychology alone, then I am a magical man compared to others. That's quite the asset in games like this.
