SGOTM 15 - Plastic Ducks

Good intuition by Duckweed.
The forest tile is occupied by a spear.

Posting immediately while I am thinking about the best counter measure.

OK here is my suggestion

Upgrade the full HP crossbow to drill 2 and attack the spear in the forest.
(80% + drill 2 should be enough)
Send the full HP treb + the 5.3HP Xbow on the forest tile as well (3 man backdoor comando)

Next turn front door team = 3 trebs + 3 axes.

Turn 115 same attack routine 2 trebs bombard, 2 trebs attack.
We still have very reasonable odds to clean up the possible 4 defenders without casualties.

Waiting for input. :scan:

EDIT: there is also a 2.6 HP treb waiting for a promotion. He could be added to the front door comando for a 3 treb attack on Tokyo.

Drill 2 is a guaranteed 2nd first strike, so that should take you to ~85% odds.
Seems good enough, but what is the backup plan if this fails?

Well if the Xbow dies or becomes very low HP, we'll have to send out one extra attacker (damaged axe) with the frontdoor team. (will be used if we lose another unit attacking Tokyo - which means loosing a 90+% odds battle I guess)

Could you finish other movements and then upload the save? How many defenders in Tokyo right now, 2?

I can't play now. Time to go to work.
2 swords in Tokyo. 1 with combat & shock 1 with combat and CR

I am thinking now that we might abandon the idea of a backdoor commando.

+ we avoid the risk of losing a Xbow (or heavily damaging it)
+ we heal the other Xbow in Kyoto as planned

- our first treb will attack across the river
- our first Xbow will attack across the river

This option is preferable for me as I'd rather lose a treb than a Xbow at this stage.

Thoughts?

@ Duckweed: What is the point of
Could you finish other movements and then upload the save?

I have already uploaded the save for this turn. Playing worker movements will not help for the current issue would it?

It has been a few days since I loaded the game, so I need to look at the game again before saying something meaningful and probably come out some new ideas. For instance, the prediction of units hiding on the forest tile is the result of careful thinking rather than intuition. My intuition is the original thought of moving the treb directly there.

While you are waiting for comments, why don't you finish other movements to simplify your next playing, in the meantime, I could double check the game while opening the updated save.

I'll probably take a look at the game tonight.

Well understood Duckweed :)
I'll skip playing tonight as it's a little bit late.
Will wait for your input and play tomorrow.

Turn 113...

The Plastic Ducks are halfway through their game...

Or are they?

Do you want to see hordes of pikes and crossbows and trebuchets bringing destruction East West North and South?

The outside world is hostile. The outside world is fathomless.
Yet we will claim it all!

It's coming now.

Consequences will never be the same.

Hey Bebe, did you check my alternative attack plan?
It's a treb accross a river instead of a xbow into a forest.

Let's move on!

I didn't check the battle odds of the fights over the river rather than coming from SE.
Do you have them ?

I don't get your point about the 2 first fights being over a river though. If we forget about the back door commando, then all fights would suffer from the penalty, wouldn't they?
Maybe I didn't get it right, but in this case I'd rather fight a 85% battle with the XBow in the forest than risk losing more units in Tokyo afterwards.

In any case, I will check the save when I get home (~5h from now) to try and give more accurate advice. If you can wait until then ,then fine, but if not, then play as you wish, you're right that we've spent enough time on this lone spear..

Friday evening zomfg

If no reply soon I will

Damn Ninja

Sorry, too tired last night.

I'm fine with moving the current treb to the front door, the winning odd would be ~15% lower, not very significant though. So

move the xBow 1N
Move a treb + an Axe to 1SE of Tokyo
Proceed to next turn, again, finish other movements, but leave the military actions, we need to revise the attacking plan.

If you can wait, as I suggested, leave the military part and finish the other movements, I'll check your updated save and plan carefully tonight. Otherwise, just go as I suggest above.

Played as advised until Turn 114. No military move between Kyoto and Tokyo.

No new unit in Tokyo. Both spear did not reinforce the city!

Our spy in Tokyo has been destroyed!
Now we need about 10 turns to have a chance for full spying bonus in Tokyo.
Our military force is going to be mostly idle - or traveling in the coming 5>10 turns.
