TerraNES: The Civil Experiment

Update 13.5
“Whoops... that was not medicine.”

Miscellaneous Actions
Armorica expands in Hibernia
Moving quickly, the Armoricans quickly established a small town in northern Hibernia and trade with various chiefs. No one questioned when some of the grumbling chiefs disappeared without incident.
(Armorica+colony)

Nesfrenks became a Horde
Losing nearly everything, they decided to leave for greener pastures. Nessos has been granted to the Iron Lances. Moving southward, many Faithful Provencials joined them. Under the steady eye of One-eye Peck and several unsullied, they crossed the Loire and emerged just northward of the Pyrenees. Meanwhile, Wesfrenks started colonizing the now empty Nesfrenkish lands and gathered many abandoned items from the land.
(Nesfrenks +1 Hordeling +1 EP:provencials) (Wesfrenks+Progress+1EP)

Ainu became a Horde
Being a state leaves a bad taste in their mouth. Tearing down the old structure, they declare that they will go on an offensive until the Yamato will be completely irradicated from Japan.
(Toyoma->Ainu Horde)

Thloryn Horde becomes the Thloryn Trade Union
The Thloryn Elite leaves the hungry masses and establish a trade union in friendly Novaricum, quickly dominating trade in the southern cities of Utica and Damietta and working into Apulia’s convoy system with dozens of raiders who respect only the Mark of Thloryn. Novaricum benefited greatly from this new organization and will seek to protect it as best as possible.
(-Thloryn Horde +Thloryn Trade Union) (Novaricum and Utica gains trade) (Levantine League and Apulia Loses Trade)

Danyan Civilizes
The Danyan horde, similar in origin to Vahshallah, started the nucleaus of what is hoped to be a great and faithful nation of Danyaria.
(Danyan Horde-Cohesion -3 Hordlings->3 Civilians)

Some Merchant
Some merchants land in Katan. They got kicked into wells.

Match-ups these years.
Medea + Boukae v.s. Viria
The rebellion spread like wildfire, and the small garrison couldn’t survive with the main army busy repelling crossings south of Ortun. Irud was conquered and invited Medea in. Medea sent Chariots and attacked Viria from the south, using Boukan currags
Having lost everything, and with no more defensive lines, the Viziers surrendered to the Shan. His decision is yet to me made on what to do with them. Medeans rally to Cyrus’ Banner of the Chariot even as another warlord united a Horde of the Bow.
(-Viria + Boukae; + Horde of the Bow) (Horde of the Chariot+Loot+Hordlings+Civilians)

Dalmatia v.s. Mediolaun
The walls of Ctesiphod, even more than half-millennia old, still held. The Dalmations are discouraged and depressed that the best manhood can not stand up to a large pile of rubble and good leadership.
(Mediolaun -1 Archer)(Dalmatia -1 Cohesion -3 Hordlings)

Sufrenks v.s. Mediolaun
The Druids call upon their nature spirits to help them. Whether by design or not, a strange plague, quickly named the Rotting Death emerged in the town of Monaco. The Druids carefully waited for the cries of pain inside the city to cease, then cleased it by fire and plow. Mediolaun is pushed back to Genoa while raids fall upon the upper reaches of the Rtas.
(Mediolaun-4 Archers -4 Spearmen -2EP-Confidence) (Sufrenks -2 Hordlines +Loot)

Danyan Horde v.s. Buggerites
The Danyan Horde did well in the Black Forest, killing aggressive Buggerites and letting those who wish to fight to stay away while Danyaria is being formed.
(+1 Cohesion)

Phoenix Horde v.s. Rebels
Several rebels tried to fight their way into Vahshallah, but most were killed by the Phoenix Horde. This has cost them some cohesion as they slowly settle the land.
(-1 Cohesion -2 Hordlings)

Doria v.s. Katan
When their armies met, it turned into a big party. Eventually, after five days of Greek Love, the men, spent, untangled them from each other and walked home with smiles on their faces.
(no effect)

Leon v.s. Castilians
Advancing with a large army and using their warriors well in the mountainous terrain, Leon conquered much of the locals, many of whom are nonfaithful and resent their new overlords… for now.
(-2 Spearmen -2 Warriors +1 Loot +1 domestic)

Leon v.s. Northern Kordobas
Leon advanced into regions it already economically dominated but not yet controlled, scattering resistance easily and incorporating the region into its nation.
(-1 Spearmen +1 Loot)

“Well… at least he stopped screaming?”

OOC:
Some people started a protest against Miniupdates. If you wish to protest any part of my NES; I welcome it! As long as you support it with reason and logic, I will listen and if I find it legitimate, or its cause supported by enough of my players, I will change.

As for Miniupdate: I will only post results of actions and a shade of story for miniupdates. These will be merged seamlessly into the full update when it comes.

As for economic change sin update, I will update the income but –X that income in the treasury so your spending is the same for the main update.

Anyway, I will codify what Miniupdates are all about, as well as VM all those who are challenged by a Miniupdate horde/whatever. Send your normal update orders NAO! (Well, after I clean my PM box.)

A Story of Origin, or How a Home was Made

Persecution. Endurance. Death. Worship. Those were the key concepts of life for the Yeirin peoples during their stay in Bengal. Since the beginning of their time in Bengal, all of the other Bengali social classes treated the Yeirin like trash. They had reasons, though these reasons might have just been an excuse. The odd religion of the Yeirin, their different language, and their unique lifestyle estranged them from the typical Bengali society. Clashing horribly with the traditional Hindu faith of Bengal, the worship of the Yeirin “High Lord”, or “Buddha” was a much more obscure religion, its only adherents being the Yeirin themselves. This Buddhist faith was oft ridiculed and considered false and beneath the Hindus. However, the Yeirin people could only stand such disrespect and persecution for so long.

It wasn’t much of a surprise that the Yeirin eventually fled the harsh Bengali lands. In a mass migration that was surprisingly well planned, a great majority of the Yeirin people took their few belongings and simply ran eastwards, hiding from the Bengali and other animals in the jungles they knew well. Eventually, after being sure that they escaped Bengali notice, the small groups of Yeirin regrouped to form one mass group of followers, believers, and pioneers, taking a slightly more southwards path. They continued on this journey for quite a while, and though it was tough, the Yeirin knew that even this long voyage was better than life back in Bengal.

And finally, after many, many days, the tenacious Yeirin people found themselves in paradise. A huge, lush, and green river delta. They saw this river, they saw it unsullied by human hands, and they called it the Njijnda, or “Grand River”. They knew that the Njijnda was a river to rival that of the Ganges in Bengal, so they sought to craft from the delta a civilization and a culture to rival that of Bengal. Free from their previous hardships, the Yeirin devoted themselves to the veneration of their new land and their lasting faith in their Buddha.

A first and essential step to building a country to last the ages was their construction of their first grand city, Pyidzirhad (OTL Bogale). Once the construction of Pyidzirhad was complete, the Yeirin people saw their great accomplishment wholly for the first time, and they celebrated. They elevated the mastermind behind Pyidzirhad, the architect Htha Lho, to be their leader, their first Buhdahn, or “High Prince” of their newly founded land of Njijndadesh. They called themselves Njijnrin now, or “Grand People”, quoting the words of the Buddha that they were and still are the supreme race in the area.

Yep. I just made Buddhism up in a half-hour. And a new nation too.

Tong Hua, Part 1
A Long Way Off Course

Tong Hua looked into the distance irritably. The Oceanstrider had been at sea for several days, set on a course for Seoul. The ship had been on a mission to the ruler of that nation, with a missive suggesting encouraging inter-country migration between the two states. It was a mission Tong Hua, a high-born cousin of the lord of Zhangat, had never wanted. Unfortunately, somebody had to do it and Emperor Fei was known for calling in his friends' favours when nobody else was willing to do a task. Hua had already begun to regret asking for a subsidy on his ship; if these journeys were to be the norm, he might as well have not built the thing.

A shout of 'Land!' interrupted his thoughts. Hua smiled.

At last, a chance to end this mission.

...

When the crew of Hua's Oceanstrider came ashore, shock and confusion set in. The Korean-speaking crew members were completely oblivious to the locals' speech, and several attempts to talk to the locals ended in, often amusing, failure. At last, a crew member tried a new approach. He grabbed a passing old man by the shoulders and started repeating a word in Korean.

Eodi? Eodi? Eodi?
Where?

At last, the old man understood. "Kore wa Nihondearu! Nai Soru! Nai Soru!"
"Ilbon i anin Hangug!"
This is Japan. Not Seoul. Japan, not Korea.

It was then they understood.
They had landed in the Kato empire.

What the Chinese want in Japan.

Nothing. We were driven here by storm winds. All we want are provisions, and then we will go on our way.

Minigame 4
I might as well try my hand at this, so here goes;

A shout rose up from the back of the horde. Fenris, a soldier, turned to the sound, and tried to hear the words over the chatting of the common rabble. Finally he heard it.
"He's dead! Grandfather Hurlain is dead!"
Fenris immediately ran to the location of the calls. There was a number of people, most likely a family, surrounding the corpse.
"Hurry, stand back!" the young soldier shouted. He turned to what appeared to be the oldest relative of the deceased man nearby. "Who is the eldest?"
The man calmly replied, "My brother Trigus, he is a soldier."
"Yes, I know him. Your father's things shall be delivered to him soon." With that Fenris began to strip the elderly man's corpse of all its possessions, including the clothes off its back, till it was stark naked under the the setting sun.
The soldier gathered the nearby family, and began to rights.
"Dead one, you give to those around us in death as much as you surely did in life. May you find peace in your afterlife, and may your spirit watch over us on our journey to the Promised Land. The Gods watch over you, brother."
With this, the youthful soldier lit a torch and burned the body. As it slowly turned to ash, the rest of the group turned and kept walking. They could not slow the Draka Clan down.

Well okay. We could give you some help to go back to China.

Only to Korea. We have business there.

We shall send you some slaves to help you, along with some guards. If the Slaves try to revolt or escape, you are free to kill them.

Very well.

Very good miniupdate Terrance, though it appears to be that there are now quite a few hordes at my doorstep, some friendly and some not. :)

Miniupdates in my opinion are quite nice as we get to see some tactics and advancement while settling in for the long wait for the next, full, main update that will change a lot of stuff around, which is what I think most people want, but I don't mind these miniupdates at all.

I'll pm orders and see if I can get some other stuff into your inbox, to clarify some things, because at this point, I am having trouble identifying my enemies and my allies that are all around me.

Also go overt the stats altogether. If that was a mistake, who knows what else is there ;)

Will be sending orders soon.

I cleaned a significant chunk out of my PM box, so start sending away.

I will go over the stats again after the main update. The troop numbers should be right as I update them while I write the miniupdate.

My main problem is that the economies are very very VERY bloated. Sure, it might be correct comparing this to the last height of Empires (Aramya+Vahshallah+Hegemonic Thloryn+Anorian Egypt), but the independent states are a bit too strong... or so I feel.

I will see what I can do after Update 20.
