What's your Religion???

You havnt grown them very well for that much happiness though, no where near enough farms, Nicea still has unfarmed bare riverside tiles!

Farm, farm, farm, Granaries and Watermills asap, work food and keep growing growing growing while building library / colosseum / garden, and marketplaces when you need them. Short on cash? Sell all your luxuries, you will hardly need them.

Theres also one more really nice city site there east of Antioch, no need to stop at 4, 5-6 cities is easily doable with those beliefs, but you need to grow them faster.

By 1600 AD I would have 4 size 20 cities at least.

Danke, I'll keep that in mind for next game or two. I guess I was too focused on running my Unis and maintaining production, and in hindsight, with the incredible amount of peace I got from the start, I should have sold off more luxes too.

With all the new happiness beliefs I've started building Granaries before monuments or libraries now, I had 2 pop 10, and 2 pop 6 cities in the BCs with the 'Divine Waterfall' religion. Early culture comes from Pagodas / cathedrals / mosques, and monuments / ampitheaters can be delayed. I put up a shrine asap to get faith, but in my current game I have Mt Sinai on my map so I simply went Warrior > Granary > Settler > Settler > Wonderspam in my capital, and granary first in my other cities followed up with library > shrine > monument > watermill.

More population will also boost your science, so the faster your growing the better, and your cities will be a lot more productive.

Also you need to enhance a lot faster, otherwise pick pagodas first not peace gardens so you can buy them sooner.

Did anyone say Druidism?

Thats what I have been doing when I play the Celts.

I founded Ba'alism as carthage, to be historical correct, Ba'al was quite a nasty God, demanded infant human sacrifice, so I choose the initial rites to reflect that...
Just what are you doing in these sacrifices that generates 100 gold? :nono:

When I'm using region as warmonger fuel I choose Christianity, otherwise I try to stay as close to history as possible.

We welcome all narrow minded religious extremists.

Milan wants Filthy Rich Jews :D :D :D

Ending it with "-ism" is boring.

Anyway, my first religion is Celtic Jihad. Guess what the icon, Follower Belief, and future Enhancer Beliefs are.

I often go with Agnosticism :mischief:

As a side comment, what I would have done is give an option to civs to not get involved with religion, and maybe convert faith to science in a ratio of 4:1 or something.

You can't do it in the early game, but once you adopt rationalism you can convert faith to GSs. the temples could be worshiping future scientists or something.
