All right, after spending more time than anticipated on Capto Iugulum's update, I'm now beginning work on the update here. Going to also work on taking a look at your orders and figuring out what parts of the ruleset need clarifying. Expect some changes to the first page, to make things easier to understand and future orders easier to do. The update will probably be up early tomorrow afternoon.

Wars of Warcraft: Month 1

AMANI ATTACK THE RAVENTUSK. War has erupted among the tribes of the northern forest trolls, as Primal Torntusk rejected an Amani emissary attempting to bring unity between the two tribes. Primal Torntusk refused the proposal, and the Amani soon retaliated by sending a small fleet and army to respond and bring the Raventusk under control. The fighting was vicious, and the Amani landed on the coast in Raventusk village itself, opening the fight with an invasion from the seas. The Amani soldiers were more numerous and led by fearsome berserkers. The berserkers immediately cut a bloody swathe right through the center of the Raventusk forces, and shattered their lines from the middle, wrecking chaos among the shamans leading the magical defense. The Amani clearly emerged victorious, slaying the shamans while the Raventusk trolls were scattered across the countryside. Their village was taken and the few trolls who survived now pledge allegiance to Zul'jin. Primal Torntusk and the few beaten followers which remained attempted to flee into Vilebranch lands, where they were captured and sacrificed to the troll gods for their weakness.
Casualty Lists
Amani Tribe: 40 Warriors, 20 Axe-Throwers, 2 Shamans
Raventusk Tribe: 55 Warriors, 50 Axe-Throwers, 10 Shamans, Primal Torntusk

THE NORTHERN ALLIANCE FORMED. The human kingdoms of the north have begun to establish greater ties not known since the days of the Kingdom of Arathor. Led by the diplomatic efforts of King Thoras Trollbane of Stromgarde, the rulers of Dalaran, Gilneas, Lordaeron, Alterac, and Stromgarde have been brought together into common alliance. The new alliance has focused upon the defense of the human northlands from threats such as the trolls, but have alienated the elves of Quel'Thalas and the humans of Kul Tiras from excluding them from the alliance invitations. The unfortunate result has been a very immediate cooling of relations between the elves and the human kingdoms, and concern that this once fast friendship could turn into new animosity. The Northern Alliance has further offered limited support for the kingdom of Stormwind in the south, hoping to respond to the claims of Medivh's insanity, as well as the wild-eyed claims of a massive army in the southeast. Time will tell if these are true or simply the wilder caterwauling of King Llane.

STROMGARDE ATTACKS THE WITHERBARK. The human Kingdom of Stromgarde has launched a new war against its troll neighbors of the Witherbark Tribe. Anxious to cleanse the Arathi Highlands of the troll taint, the army of Stromgarde has pushed east to claim Go'shek Mine from the trolls. The battle was brought near the mine, as the Stromgardians attempted to lure the trolls out into the open from their own positions in the forested hills. Archers found few targets, as the trolls blended into their surrounds, and the humans found their strategy to be utterly worthless. Furthermore, the elements themselves were risen against the humans, as earthen elements rose from the ground to crush the human archers with rock. When the army of Thoras Trollbane found themselves dealing with this new menace, the trolls attacked, free of fire from the human archers. The troll berserkers and warriors waded into the larger human army, inflicting a devastating toll upon them, and shredding them to pieces as were thrown from afar. The day was nearly lost for the human army, as Danath Trollbane and the Stromgarde knights rode into the flank of the trolls, along with more warriors, overrunning their axe throwers. The trolls were forced to retreat, giving up the mine, but they inflicted a hefty toll upon the human invaders.
Casualty Lists
Stromgarde: 120 Warriors, 70 Archers, 5 Knights, 3 Clerics (Danath Trollbane and Thoras Trollbane gain 1 level)
Witherbark Tribe: 80 Warriors, 40 Axe-Throwers, 2 Berserkers (Mai'jin gains 1 level)

WAR AMONG THE DARK IRON DWARVES. The blaring of rifles and mortars echoed throughout the Searing Gorge, as the Dark Irons of Blackrock Spire have launched an all-out attack to defeat the traitors of the Thorium Brotherhood. After several weeks of skirmishes and attempts at infiltration, several Dark Iron spies were caught attempting to sabotage the Thorium Brotherhood's gunpowder supply. They were unable to do so, but the attack went forward regardless, leading to a brutal battle between the two groups of dwarves. The Thorium Brotherhood leader, Malyfous Darkhammer, himself waded into the battle, and inflicted a heavy toll upon the attackers. Ultimately through sheer numbers, the Dark Irons managed to break into the Brotherhood's citadel at Thorium Point, but at great cost. The Brotherhood's surviving soldiers then rallied around Malyfous Darkhammer, retreating into the Badlands in the east, vowing to one day to return for vengeance upon the Emperor Thaurissan.
Casualty Lists
Dark Iron: 90 Warriors, 25 Riflemen
Thorium Brotherhood: 40 Warriors, 15 Riflemen, 1 Mortar (+1 Level for Malyfous Darkhammer)

ALLIED ARMIES ARRIVE IN STORMWIND. The arrival of the troll and orc armies on the borders of Stormwind have not been ignored by the human kingdoms of the north. The even greater threat of the madness of Medivh has been seen as an even larger concern, as the mages of Dalaran sent thirty of their finest by portal to the great city of Stormwind itself. Along the coast, the navy of Kul Tiras has arrived to safeguard Stormwind's ports from troll naval raids, and to protect the trading routes from north to south. Over one-hundred and fifty of the finest marines of Kul Tiras have been led to these shores to help fight the good fight against Stormwind's enemies. Also arriving in the port of Stormwind have been one hundred of the best warriors of the kingdom of Stromgarde, providing yet more swords for the fight to come. With the Horde even now besieging the young Fort Deadwind, it seems that every arm will be needed in this epic conflict.

TROLLS TRY RAID ON RAVEN HILL. As the humans turn their eyes to the east to face the growing might of the orcish Horde, the trolls of the jungles of Stranglethorn have launched their own attacks into the territory of Stormwind. Faced with the dire threat of the Horde, the humans were only able to send the barest amount of troops under the leadership of Alonsus Faol to defend the town of Raven Hill from a major troll raid. The humans were badly outnumbered, but through the blessings of the light, and the wisdom and surprising cunning of Archbishop Faol, managed to defeat the trolls in battle. The trolls were mauled by the human forces, as five brave knights were unleashed, wrecking the troll shamans and axe-throwers, and unpleasantly taking them by surprise. Unfortunately, the trolls did manage to recover somewhat, and the humans were unable to complete the victory, as the raiders slipped back into the jungles, to prepare another move against Stormwind.
Casualty Lists
Gurubashi Tribe: 40 Warriors, 20 Axe-Throwers, 4 Berserkers, 8 Shamans
Stormwind: 30 Warriors, 5 Archers, 3 Knights (+1 Level for Alonsus Faol)

THE SIEGE OF FORT DEADWIND. The drums of war beat heavy as the orcish Horde has approached the borders of the Kingdom of Stormwind, and the humans went to immediate work preparing for their arrival. As scouts kept track of the Horde's advance, human peasants and soldiers began building a new stronghold at the western mouth of Deadwind Pass. The new fortifications were completed just in time, as the Human army dug in to meet the onslaught of the Horde. The fort was immediately placed under siege, as the orcs began pounding it with foul magic and catapults. Numerous assaults were launched upon the main gates, as the Bleeding Hollow and Blackrock Clans assaulted the doors. Ultimately, under the constant strain and pounding, the humans' own catapults were destroyed, and their mages either slain or collapsed from exhaustion, with the exception of Medivh's former apprentice, Khadgar. While engaged in battle with the powerful ogre-magi Cho'gall, Khadgar was brought to his knees and nearly slain by the beast's magics, only the timely actions of a cleric saved him from a horrible death. Despite numerous attacks, the human fort managed hold, but only barely. The Horde managed to bypass the fort and surround it, placing Grand Hamlet under direct threat of attack. Only the south road remains open, as the humans struggle to prevent their fort from becoming their grave.
Casualty Lists
Blackrock Clan: 380 Warriors, 90 Spearmen, 40 Raiders, 4 Catapults (+1 Level for Blackhand and Orgrim Doomhammer)
Bleeding Hollow Clan: 200 Warriors, 45 Spearmen, 1 Catapult (+1 Level for Kilrogg Deadeye)
Twilight's Hammer Clan: 25 Warlocks (+1 Level for Cho'gall)
Stormwind: 740 Warriors, 200 Archers, 20 Knights, 20 Mages, 2 Catapults (-1 Level for Khadgar; +1 Level for Anduin Lothar)

FALSE TROLL WAR IN STRANGLETHORN. The Skullsplitters have attacked the Darkspear Tribe this month, as the trolls attempted to expand their realms throughout the south. The Skullsplitter Tribe unfortunately found no one to kill, as the Darkspear Tribe withdrew to their islands, using the elements and their fleet to protect themselves from any invasion. Without any ships or shamans of their own, the Skullsplitter Tribe has been unable to come to combat with the Darkspear Trolls, who seem intent upon preserving themselves against the wrath of the mainland tribe. They have successfully managed to use local tidal waves and attacks of a magical nature to prevent the Skullsplitter Tribe from using the territory they have taken along the coastline. For now, it seems a stalemate has been assured as neither are able nor willing to come to grips in battle.

We ask to seek refuge in your lands from the attacks of the Dark Irons. They are a vicious and cruel enemy and we must find a land in which to recover until we can regain control of our people and lands from the emperor's madness.

OOC

Upon further review, I have halved the costs of most units (but not all, particularly warriors). I think the reason why should be pretty obvious, as at the moment, it appears impossible to much building of armies beyond what you have, which is counter to my goals of large battles.

Anyone affected by the modifications to the rules will find their funds appropriately banked where applicable. Please read the revised rules closely.

As a note, you CAN spend incoming resources for the turn.

@Milarqui: Your city interior already has a railway network. Unfortunately, there's nowhere really to make a railroad go within your territory. You have one city which already has rails of a sort. Therefore the funds dedicated to this have been banked.

@Omega124: Grey area is always impassable, regardless of any information from anywhere else. Therefore I have moved your clan in accordance with what is actually possible.

Remember losses sustained in battle are losses that were sustain BEFORE regeneration (for trolls) or healing (for those with clerics) took place. Therefore the actual losses of your forces may not be as bad as they appear at first.

Spoiler :

OOC: In regards to the troll regeneration ability being at 25%, does this mean that about 10 warriors and 5 axe-throwers regenerate and can be added to my total?

Also, are the dragon flights going to be a non-factor in this NES, I don't think they would be a unnecessary addition, just making sure they are not involved.

The regeneration has already been calculated into your current stats. Dragons will get involved at the appropriate moment.

We accord that our historic alliance and friendship with the Elven people is and has always been strong and unassailable. In order to avoid any mis-communication we affirm that Lordaeron has a continued interest in its alliance with Quel'thalas, and hopes to continue to work with Quel'thalas closely in future, outside of the bounds of the Northern Alliance whose existence we regard as a secondary entity to our relationship with your kingdom. We hope that no offense has been taken by your esteemed selves, and that you might reciprocate in kind.

Danath Trollbane removed his sword from the corpse of a freshly slain Witherbark as he looked up at the remaining trolls retreat back into their forests. It was a costly victory which he was very sure of, but he knew that Stromgarde could finally win the struggle against their ancient adversaries. He looked toward his uncle, Thoras, who's armor was coated in troll blood and the two traded grins. Danath sheathed his sword and made his way towards the man.

“Today we bask in victory my nephew, one that cost Stromgarde blood but a worthy victory nonetheless.” Thoras greeted Danath as he patted him on the shoulder.

“Look at those cowardly trolls running to hide in their forests rather then fight till the bitter end. They know they're going to lose and that scares them. We can finish them off for good finally uncle.” Danath replied looking toward the forest eagerly. “Their mine is now ours, we will put that to good use in a push to flush them out into the open.”

Thoras, before he could agree with him, had a young soldier hurry up to him with a piece of parchment. He took it from the soldier and dismissed him, then unraveled it to read. It was about the situation in Stormwind.

The situation down here in Stormwind is worse then we had predicted. If we are to help our friends down here we'll need more troops and not just warriors, clerics or knights, I hate to ask it but we will require either yourself or Danath. It is our only hope to help repel this grave threat which is truly the biggest threat I have ever seen or heard of. I hope all is going well with the assault on the Witherbark and that you will be able to act upon this letter by sending the aid I have requested I know it is a lot to ask of you, my great King, but you must understand I would not ask it if I did not truly believe it were necessary.

After reading the letter he folded it back up and placed it in one of his pouches. He brought his gloved hand up to his face and stroked his mustache as he thought. Danath looked at him with a mix of concern and anticipation waiting for his uncle to give him the news. Thoras' eyes darted back and forth from his army, to the forest, to the mine, to Danath and towards Stromgarde Keep. This was going to be a very tough decision for the King as he could lead his people to the victory they thirsted for for so long. Although at the same time he knew the cleric who wrote him would not ask this of him so lightly. After thinking hard about his decision for a long while he moved his hand back to his side and looked toward Danath once more.

“Danath, my nephew and one of Stromgarde's greatest warriors, I...” Thoras paused looking the man directly in the eyes.

“What is it uncle, what's going on?” Danath questioned very conerningly.

“We're not going to end the troll threat so soon.” He paused briefly once again, but continued before Danath could get a word in to break the confused look on his face. “You must lead our men south, to Stormwind, and aid King Llane Wrynn protect us all from the Orcish Horde.”

Greetings great mage and leader of the Kirin Tor as well as the magical city of Dalaran. I write this letter to ask permission to send Danath and his troops to make their way to your city of Dalaran and use the portals you have to send them to Stormwind. If you would allow such a thing it would give us the opportunity as well as save us a great amount of time in aiding Stormwind.
