Claims the following land as belonging to the 3rd Union, Finland, Baltic region, Belarus, Eastern Germany, Poland, and Western Ukraine.

Finland is bolded as that is the only one they have control over.

Quick, switch to Japan.
I may have to do that since I really don't want to be starting out directly next to another nation.

Is MPR canon for MP2, or is only the 1st MP canon for MP2?

I know Thorvald didn't intend for MPR to be a sequel to MP entirely but that kind of happened either way. I'd like for Thorvald to decide whether MPR is in the same timeline or there was a divergence a la Red Alert.

It won't matter too terribly since so much time has passed that plenty of history is probably gone, though it will influence what sorts of artifacts you all dig up. :p

I'm taking that horrific growth of a province on the north coast of Java. Why does the UoN have so many islands?

Strategic bottlenecks, I assume.

Thorvald's got it!

The UN is an apparent superpower formed by much weaker states to regulate their disputes and control international problems. Based on the success of the corporations, even with all their influence it's still shaky.

MPR never went far enough to warrant canonization anyway. Now, if in the far distant future I can resurrect it...

God damn it, now you've gotten me torn on to stay or move my starting position!

Random Questions:

Can corportations disappear if they aren't making enough money? Can new corporations be created via roleplaying and events?

Also, can the UN decide who is hosting the Olympics, or is it always random?

Claiming London. All Formatics are to be shot on sight.

The Kingdom of London
UNKG0001.GIF

Government: Theocratic Monarchy
Society: Reactionary. The Anglican Church of the Machine sees science and technology as liberating for society and takes a harsh stance against beliefs that contradict the official canon. The Anglican Church of the Machine is the result of several centuries of development of One Visionism, Machine Cultist, and Emperor Worship of the Caribbean which put an emphasis on a "Soldier-Inquisition". In the same way, the Soldier-Inquisition of the Anglican Church of the Kingdom of London serves a public, defensive, and "purifying" function in London. The Kingdom of London, therefore, is a refuge for demons and embraces demonic technology.

Economy: The Kingdom of London operates a mixed economy, leaning to free market. The ACM monopolizes certain high-tech industries and services and provides many services, such as healthcare. The Church sees serving the public as a must and gives tax exemptions to individuals who donate to government-approved charities. The Church also gives tax exemptions to corporations that create jobs in London. Some individuals that run businesses, therefore, tend to create as many jobs as possible, while donating as much as possible to lower their taxes.

Otherwise, the tax system is progressive. The poor don't pay taxes while the designated middle class pays taxes. The rich pay the highest amounts of income tax.
Currency: New British Pound
Religion: Anglican Church. Rumors has it there are still Protestants.
Language: Modern English.

Norwich Republic
2987

Soldier-Inquisitor Charles Arkos II, future King-Patriarch of London, waited in the anti-gravity vehicles.

The enemy, the militia of the Norwich Republic, had built fortified positions around the core of the city, including in the suburbs southwest of the city center. Arkos' Night Spinner, a support vehicle of the kingdom, waited southwest of them, in the field of a community center. Between the community center and the former Norwich secondary school-turned fortress raged a battle between the Shruiken Cannon-wielding Soldier-Inquisition and assault rifles of the Norwich Republic. The battle started in the early morning as the Soldier-Inquisition pushed forward with the ticking sound of Norwich machine guns. Shuriken weapons hissed when fired and hissed when flying through the air.

Truth be told, Norwich weapons were decent. The rate of fire for their tried-and-true, millennium old, weapon design was fine, but had nothing on the amount of shurikens a shuriken cannon can put. Unfortunately, assault rifles were more accurate. Krumps of explosions punctuated the hisses and pinging.

The Soldier-Inquisition was winning. Arkos could tell that from the war cries. Soon, the militia would break and flee to the fortress, crossing an open field...

The communication module buzzed, "They're breaking! Night Spinners, fire at will!"

Arkos barked the order.

The Night Spinner was armed with twin-linked Shuriken Catapults for self defense. The Shadow Weaver was the main attraction, and an attraction it was. The ammunition that feeds the weaver is kept in an container similar to the flamethrowers used by Norwich troops. However, instead of napalm, the magnetic container was filled with an organic liquid. The Shadow Weaver was less a gun, and more a sphere with thousands of microscopic tubes filed into it which the liquid was pushed and fire through.

The Shadow Weaver fired. Within moments, the liquid become millions of microfilaments drawn together with spinning gravity clamps. The cloud webs of seven Night Spinners fell onto the field as the routed militias retreated orderly to the fort, fire and maneuvering backwards.

Militia caught under the web either died outright or struggled to their deaths as the webs bit and tore into flesh on impact, or sliced through skin as the panicked militia struggled to free themselves. The compound contracted as the captured struggled. Some overeager Soldier-Inquisitions had also been caught as the webs fell short. Some webs had gone long, and some had gone wide. The weapon wasn't exactly accurate.

Arkos couldn't see any of this, of course. He could hear the screaming. The Night Spinner moved over the the shell-pocked streets.

The corporations are in the game more or less permanently; this is because they are the replacement for the "national strengths" of the first MP.

Also, can the UN decide who is hosting the Olympics, or is it always random?

The UN could blacklist states, but other than that it's random and they're hosted by major powers.

Hey hey hey!

There shall be no genocide - planned or realised - until this game has even started! :p

The collapse of centralised authority eventually led many in the area to start to band together in order to face the threats created in the wake of the Cataclysm. As time went on, many in East Prussia began to call for a revival of the Old Prussian language and customs, which were erased by the Germans in the Middle Ages, and Prussian Nationalism became popular. Finally, in 2963, the communities of East Prussia banded together under the banner of the Republic of Prussia, although as time went on, Danzig, Pomerania, and parts of eastern Belarus joined to protect themselves.

Republic of Coruscant

With rampid wars and nuclear exchanges that happened in the last cycle on Earth. The Republic has undertaken a space colonization efforts in the Nova Prime system. While Earth has been muddied in internal strife, The Republic forged a new home on the Earth-like planet of Terra Nova, devoid of nation states. Supposedly terraformed to look like Earth by the ancients. While at the same time, fought off and defeated the Second Galactic Empire lead by Mariko during the Second Galactic Civil War. In the post-Civil War era, the Republic mainly focused on rebuilding itself during it's reconstruction era.

The events in the last cycle has left the Republic scared in the foreign affairs department and adopted an isolationist policy to avoid the hurt from the mirid of political power plays. That is until they made first contact with the Asari Republics sometime in the dusk of the Second Galactic Civil war, who introduced the Republic to the greater Galactic community and "culturally uplifted" the Republic in the ways of diplomacy. Coupled with the experiences from the last cycle and , the Republic adopted a foreign policy based on realpolitik based on realistic approaches in diplomacy instead of idealistic approaches shown in the previous cycle.

While in it's self-exile in Space away from Earth, the Republic undertook massive mega engineering feats of towing planets the likes of Coruscant, Corellia, and Endor into the Nova Prime system as well as terriforming the moons of Saturnate and Talos into the moons of Saturn and Jupiter found in the Cowboy Bebop anime. While the Republic is one of the remaining spacefaring nations on Earth, the Republic's Manifest Destiny has simmered down and focuses on developing Republic Space.

Years later on 1023 ABY (3000 CE, using 1977 as a zero marker), renewed interest of Earth came about when the dust finally settled on Earth and the nations around the Cradle Region began to collapse. The Republic sees it's opportunity to give Earth another chance. Though faced with the new realities that the American Empire has propped itself next to their chosen location. The Republic chose a second, alternative, location to settle to avoid jabbing elbows and border disputes with the neighboring nation.

After going through the aggravating "rebel" BS that's enough to turn me off from IOT games. I certainly do not want a repeat of MPR happening here. Somehow, I see people want to give me a hard time in this game.
