SGOTM 16 - U'nu'sual S'us'pec'ts

Alrighty. I'm playing. Gonna put on my careful hat!

EDIT 1: There's fish 2N of the sheep!

EDIT 2: On turn 84 Brennus got a fist. He and Ramesses are worst enemies, but I'm not taking this as a good sign. I'm going to cut the turnset short for discussion. Since we can either continue with the settler/galley builds in Paris/Production. Or switch to chariots. We need to discuss.

EDIT 3: Hang tight. I'm posting screenies.

Noo! :o Fist mode is NOT good at all :o What is our power ration in comparison to Rams and Brennus?

Edit: Can you check what the best unit he can build is?

Turnset 5a: Turns 82-84

Followed the micro on the turnset for turns 82-84. Brennus got a little fist so I've stopped for discussion with team.

I can't seem to find the Buffy one anywhere. Can somebody point me to it / make sure I've turned on to record it?

Good news! The city on the sheep island looks like it might be quite delicious!

Bad news: still can't tell if it's an island.

Good news: Brennus is quite close to us!

State of Production who's micro I'm a little concerned about. I don't want to whip, but it's also silly to not work the fish?

Also, I just realized I forgot to make manual saves after each turn. So I have the end of turn 82 and the end of turn 84, but that's it. :(.

Comments on how to proceed are needed:

1) Should we stick with our aggressive growth strategy of galley + settler or switch to a more conservative defensive strategy.

2) Help with the micro in Production.

Also, what are the diplomatic modifiers? Some AI don't like you for being ahead in points..

Just left my computer. But iirc they are both cautious with us and both -1, annoyed and worst enemies with each other. I don't know about power. The save on progress and results is up to date, though. So maybe somebody else can check?

Your micro changes are fine, no problems here. In my testing, I found I got ahead of the curve regarding cottages pretty quickly, so I built a few roads to speed up settlers/chariots.

Yay, that Sheep/Fish/PHF location is looking mega.

1) Stay the course, we have 1 chariot, we can (and will) whip a bunch more. If Brennus has a worst enemy I find it hard to believe he is targeting us. Open Borders immediately.

2) Production should be working the mine instead of the Sheep to get the galley out sooner. The fish is a mega tile, and we should never not be working it. The extra pop is just savings in the bank, that we can use for a mega whip later on.

Road to Brennus should be a direct line SW from Clams.

Celts score just went up 35, did they build a wonder?

edit:
No, no idea what made there score jump.

Everyone is +1 with each other, but Brennus & Ramesses are 'Annoyed' at each other, but merely 'Cautious' with us.

edit 2:
Give the FP being cottaged to Commerce. Production will never work it.

@Neil: We need to read into the hidden modifiers to find out more I think.

Anyway, the strongest unit Brennus can build is a chariot. We need metal ASAP. Can that workboat scout around the sheep to find some metal nearby? How long before alpha?

Maybe kcd tested this out and figured brennus would declare and only gave us iron which means that stealing IW is a lot less attractive.

How do you know this??

Maybe, but fortune favours the brave.

Maybe, but fortune favours the brave.

I still stick to stealing IW.

You just click on him to get the diplomacy screen and eventually, it'll say 'ooh, I've just built a chariot...' which indicates his strongest unit :)

Agreed.

@ Benginal
Not sure of your plans, but please don't whip the Granary in GP Farm, 2 pop whip the lib (with 25 overflow) the turn after you start it (coincides with pop 5)

Anyway, a few days ago, I was playing LoR mod and I realised they show hidden diplo modifiers. I don't actually know if they change it but this is something along the lines of the real diplo that we should be seeing. Obviously, the years of peace is not there, but it is common amongst everyone so can be ignored anyway.

Brennus is notorious for being disliked.

But your screenie is very telling.
Since they have +1 peace, and maybe even the hidden developing country modifier as we are coming first, then we can probably assume that Ramesses random modifier towards Brennus is -4.
