SGOTM 16 - U'nu'sual S'us'pec'ts

Brennus will go to war with Ramesses if we give him Civil Service, Monarchy, and Metal Casting. I presume that's a big "no."

Agreed. No, no, and no.

I have to drop my daughter at school and head to work, will check back in in 30-40 minutes.

Don't wait for me for any diplo decisions, most of the team is online. :)

Played one turn, everything as planned. Revolution went fine. Able to increase research to 70% taking Engineering from 5 turns to 4 turns. Temple of Solomon biafal. Ramesses II will give us Theology + 20 gold for either [Metal Casting + Compass] OR [Civil Service]. What do you think?

Judaism and Taoism are both "Unknown." Babylon and China are both in Judaism as their state religion. Nobody is in Taoism.

The sad thing is we just spent a turn revolting into Hereditary Rule and Bureaucracy. If we'd been able to trade for Theology last turn, we could have done Theocracy and Bureaucracy instead.

If we make the trade, is it worth spending another turn revolting to become Theocratic?

Holding off playing for discussion, since it's both the trade and the possible civics change.

I wouldn't bother with Theocracy, our units have a big advantage over Brennus' already.

Its not just 1 turn to revolt into Theocracy, its revolting out of it that will cost us 1 turn, because as soon as we take 1 more city, we can't get 2 civic changes for 1 turn revolt.

edit: I am happy to make the trade though, everyone else has MC, and if Ramesses builds us some harbors, that would be great.

Yes, make the trade, it reduces the cost of Paper, and everyone has MC already.

Yes, we need some more team input.

Qin & Brennus have Compass already, but that is it. They still need Machinery to get Optics.

Save is uploaded. I think Neil can take it from here.

Revolted to Hereditary Rule and Bureaucracy. Sold Metal Casting to the lot of them for next to nothing. Traded Metal Casting and Compass to Ramesses II for Theology and 20 gold. Researched Engineering. Built a lot of roads. Circumnavigated. Ramesses II built the Kong Miao. The Temple of Solomon BIAFAL. Buddhism spread to Beijing and Zhou. Hammurabi and Saladin will trade Feudalism (just became available this turn).

I built a lot of units. I've never whipped so hard before. Because I played one less turn than expected (due to Bureaucracy getting Engineering 1 turn faster), not all the units I planned to build are complete. We currently have 3 Galleon, 1 Galley, 6 Catapult, 5 Crossbow, 2 Spear, and 2 Mace. When Neil hits end turn, we will have an additional 6 Mace and 1 Pike.

I think I screwed up a bit on the rally points, since 4 of the crossbows are down by Tolosa and only one near the ships... sorry about that.

Brennus got Monarchy and switched to Hereditary Rule at the end of the turnset. I found Brennus' monster stack of death in Thebes.

Sorry to jump the gun Chris, but you are now offline after posting the save a while ago.

Just spent the last 10 minutes looking at the updated save, its looking really good.
We have a lot of Maces coming online next turn (6) and a Pikeman.

edit: x-post!!!

Are you sure you don't want to continue for a few more turns??

I'm happy to take it from here though, I estimate we are 5 turns from DoWing Brennus.

edit: and a pikeman is great, it is an awesome stack defender that can pitch in to attack if required

I can play again tomorrow night (in about 26 hours) if desired - I wouldn't mind doing it. I would need a lot of suggestions about how to get the right troops to the right rally points. Then you could take it on the declare war turn.

Done, I will put together a proto-plan to get all troops in place. edit: after lunch
