SGOTM 16 - U'nu'sual S'us'pec'ts

Save is uploaded, Neil is up. Ramesses II built the Kong Miao. Hammurabi was briefly Sully's worst enemy, then us, now Hammy again Built more units that Neil had in his plan because some of the minor cities were able to get out a couple of maces and such. The rally points are well stocked with units.

Most of the units in or adjacent to the rally points have not moved - they are fortified or sentried. The game is at end of turn, but Neil can wake up the units and start the war now. This is an official handoff.

Screwed up and moved the spy last turn with a misclick, so it can't sabotage the horses this turn.   The spy just moved back to the horses. Will it get zapped out of Brennus' territory when we declare war, or is it exempt from that? I don't know. Very very sorry about that mistake.

Nicely done Chris, never mind the spy, at least Brennus does not have Machinery or Feudalism.
Our power graph is amazing to behold.

I'll put up a detailed PPP when I get to work, but the main talking points are

Tech rate to 0% (we are 1900 beakers from Edu), GP due next turn - 70% GS, 15% GE, 10% GM, 5% GA.

Babylon just built Sistines, so we might need to take Cahokia ('Mids, HG, MoM) & a mysterious as yet unnamed Babylonian city.

These are the trades I propose we make before we do anything else. The big one is Machinery & Lit to Qin for Feudalism, this is the cheapest Feudalism trade out there, and we want them to do Guilds for us.

OK, I did a worldbuilder test. The spy is *not* evicted when we declare war. Brennus will get one turn to whip horses, but that's all - the spy can sabotage the horses next turn.

I like sucking out all his money for a worthless map!

Pre Play Plan

Play 4 turns, to Tolosa falling

1. Technologies

Edu at 0%, if we get a GS next turn we bulb it on finishing Edu, if not a GS, set research to 100%.

Trade Iron to Sally for Dye & 2gpt
Trade Lit & Machinery to Qin for Feudalism & 40g
Trade Aesthetics & Priesthood to SB for HBR & 10g
Sell world map to Ramesses for 130g
Sell world map to Brennus for his map & 80g (we might as well get his cash & map)

2. Dealing with AI

Refuse demands from Brennus, Ramesses II, and Saladin. Consider demands from others if interesting, but likely refuse.

Keep an eye on map trades with other hemisphere.

Continue focusing espionage on Qin.

Local spy to sabotage horses next turn. Remote spy heads to Qin, where we are spending all our EP's.

3. City placement and builds

No new cities this set.

4. General micro

Paris: Treb, whip for max overflow into Uni
GP Farm: Continue Salon, 2 pop whip for max o/f into Uni
Production: Treb, whip for max overflow into Uni
Commerce: Salon, whip for max o/f into Uni
Clams: Pikeman, whip for max overflow into Uni
West Fish: Continue Confused missionary, 1 pop whip for max o/f into Uni
Barb City: Mace, whip for max overflow into Uni
Zhou: Harbor, 2 pop whip for max o/f into Uni
Fake Humbaba: LH, 2 pop whip for max o/f into forge
West Coast Silk: Whip Mace now, as a Brennus archer is lurking
Wheat: Continue Mace
Red Fish Blue Fish: whip LH next turn, start CH

This makes 8 universities for Oxford, so one can afford to go slow.

Workers
Worker 1 & 10 (we have 2 worker 10's btw) are dead, they are standing next to a Brennus Archer
Captured Brennus Worker, we will get him this turn and he replaces Worker 1 (who has been around for a long time anyway, he must be tired :whew:)
Worker 2, continue workshopping island.
Worker 3, help finish Wheat cottage, then farm 1SW of wheat to spread irrigation to it.
Worker 4, finish Wheat cottage, then farm 1SW of wheat to spread irrigation to it.
Worker 5 to go with Tolosa stack, build a road on the forest.
Worker 6, move to Production forest and workshop
Worker 7, finish Barb City farm, then move 1 SE and watermill
Worker 8, finish cottage on Commerce forest, then cottage a Paris plains tile.
Worker 10, move to forest next to Paris and cottage

Great People
GS to bulb Edu
GE to be saved for Mining Inc
GM to be saved for Sushi
GA to be saved for a culture bomb.

5. Civics and Religion

Attempt to convert Hammy to Beauro

6. War

What else can I say, other than we pile in after making the trades.

Vermalion stack:
4 Maces, 1 X-bow, 1 Cat, 1 spear & (1 Treb next turn)

Bibracte stack:
3 Maces, 3 X-bows, 2 Cats, 1 Pikeman, 1 Archer & 1 Chariot (Medic I)

Tolosa stack:
4 Maces, 2 X-bows, 3 Cats, 2 Trebs, 1 Pikeman, 1 Spear, 1 Chariot (Medic I) & 1 Worker to build a road.

Chariots 6 & 10 to hide in Ramesses' territory, sniping at the workers & axes if possible and attempting to pillage roads.

7. Bigger picture

Smash Brennus
Get other hemisphere up to speed, but not with Paper/Edu
Get 7 universities

We currently have 6 TR's with Brennus, but SB & Qin have more than enough spare TR's so that we will still have no domestic TR's when we DoW Brennus

Copy & Paste error

Predicted attack force:
Verlamion force:
3 Maces, 1 Cat, 1 Spear

Bibracte force:
3 Maces, 3 X-Bows, 2 Cats, 1 Pike, 1 Archer & 1 Chariot (Medic I)

Tolosa force:
3 Maces, 2 X-Bows, 3 Cats, 2 Trebs, 1 Pike, 1 Spear, 1 Chariot (Medic I)

Actual attack force:
Vermalion stack:
4 Maces, 1 X-bow, 1 Cat, 1 Spear & (1 Treb next turn)

Bibracte stack:
3 Maces, 3 X-bows, 2 Cats, 1 Pike, 1 Archer & 1 Chariot (Medic I)

Tolosa stack:
4 Maces, 2 X-bows, 3 Cats, 2 Trebs, 1 Pike, 1 Spear, 1 Chariot (Medic I) & 1 Worker to build a road.

So, I got an extra Mace, X-Bow, and Treb into the Verlamion stack, and an extra Mace into the Tolosa stack. Not bad, if I do say so myself :)

Yes, it works out rather well, as this is the mini-stack that will have to do most of the work with Camulodunum after Vermalion.

If I get enough greens, I will play this morning, in a few hours from now.

Just the first 4 turns, up to Tolosa falling, after that we will probably need to stop to reassess the situation in some detail.

Argh, did I really kill two of our workers through misplacement? Is there no way to save them?

Green.

No, there is no way to save them. All we can hope is that the Brennus Archer moves to help defend Vermalion, and it may well do that.

Doesn't matter, Brennus has lots of workers that we will get, and even if we do lose those 2, we will probably get them back.

No worries, its easy to miss little stuff. :)

All looks good. Nice job Chris. :goodjob: We will get the workers back shortly.

That was bigger than I thought!

Is there a hidden message in this somewhere

"leaf Brennus alone" maybe.

Spoiler :
Oh I kill me :lmao:
Thankyou, thankyou, I'm here all week

edit: I will start playing in about 45 minutes.

OK, just started.

Made all the trades, DoWed Brennus, moved troops into position, hit end turn. The result:

- Brennus' archer didn't move  so our workers live and the archer won't make it to Vermalion in time.
- Bibracte stack had a catapult thrown against it. 5 units injured, will need 1 turn healing.
- We got a ..... GS.
