SGOTM 16 - U'nu'sual S'us'pec'ts

Qin finishes Banking in 5 turns, and he will most likely revolt to Mercantilism, costing us ~30 commerce a turn.

If we sell/gift Theology to Qin in 3 turns, when we are 1 turn from finishing it, he may revolt to Theocracy (unlikely I know), and thus delay any revolt to Merc.

OK - I'll add this to my to do list.

edit: there will also probably be another mini-turnset from Trys before he hands over

They don't feel very "mini". :p

OK - I am about to start playing.

It is turn 178. Saladin adopted Theocracy this turn with our missionary 1 turn away in the caravel. Where should I send the missionary?

Gift him the missionary.

We can only bribe him into civics we are running, and we are both running the same civics, so unfortunately, no we cant.

I AM WRONG

Qin is not running OR, and can be bribed into it.

Yaaaaaay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ummm... I need to vote for the AP resident before I save the game, so I am going to vote for us, rather than Brennus. I hope that is OK.

Save now uploaded.

We've had problems with spies. We had the Granary in Wheat sabotaged as well as progress toward a monastery in another city. Screen shots coming soon.

Edit: And I lost the northern trireme to a barb galley at 88% odds. I'd think we should upgrade the other east coast trireme to a frigate.

Frigate sounds good, it will eat barb galleys.

Ramesses has 310 gold  he must have been close to finishing AP.

... and Qin can be bribed into OR this turn, which I think means immediately, and he will not be able to go into Merc for 5 turns.

Ramesses has 310 gold  he must have been close to finishing AP.

:whew: Because I could not whip the AP. I needed 5 pop to whip and we only had 4 pop available. Maybe this is because I ran the engineer instead of working a coastal tile?

Trades galore:

Great trades, awesome!!!!

Scratch another Decathlon item off the list !!!

Great trades, awesome!!!!

I checked everybody for gpt every single turn.

Scratch another Decathlon item off the list !!!

Do we get the objective for being the AP resident at any point in the game, or must we be the AP resident at the end of the game?

This would be a good time to go over the build orders for cities, since I think I went through most of the plans in the last PPP. We can get SM in 3(?) turns, so monasteries everywhere I would guess. The market in production is a place holder for now.

We must be resident at the end, but as long as we never learn Mass Media, we will always be AP resident.

If someone else builds UN, we can still be secretary general, as long as we have the biggest population (which we definitely will).

I will have a good trawl over the save tonight, or in the morning (unless my boss wants me to work). But great play! you are our lucky charm.

Right now, I have to go see this:
Spoiler :

Have fun!

I need to sleep.

Edit: A few ideas:

-Switch to Buddhist monastery in Production (2t), the Market was just a place holder.
-Switch to a Buddhist monastery in Zhou, and 2-pop whip away the unhappy citizen into UoS.
-A citizen was assigned as a spy in RFBF this turn, switch him to coastal tile(for growth) or engineer (for hammers)? The missionary should spread Buddhism there this turn, so we can switch to a monastery.

Agreed, Barb City as well. Coast for growth right now I think in RFBF.

We have 3 full turns before we can complete the Christian monastery in Isca, so switch to SM, and dial down research back to 0%

I find this trade a little tempting:
Spoiler :

It should get us at least 5 more turns of trade routes with Qin, which gives us an extra 28 raw commerce a turn.
It will also give us an extra +1 diplo, bringing us to +10, and Friendly. But we will get this anyway on either t181 or t182 from the shared civic increment.

The big problem is if we then take peace with Brennus, he might vassalise to him.

So, I do not think we should include war with Brennus, but otherwise I like the Engineering for 5 turns of trade routes.

Don't forget, we want the other continent up to speed, so they can do some teching for us.

Edit: just noticed we are still putting 2/3 of our EPs on hammy, have to change that.
Should we sell Ramesses philo for his gold?, maybe ina few turns, as he can research Edu.
