SGOTM 16 - Plastic Ducks

PPP to Astro

Research: Astro

Will switch to Pacifism on T163 since there are still some buildings to be whipped heavily in these 3 turns.

City build

The priority of buildings in each city will be the same as specified in last session mostly. I'd only specify the build in the most important cities, missionaries, and non-infrastructure build.

Paris -- temples
Orleans -- temples
Bib -- Forge->Market
Chin will be the major site for producing CMs for new conquered cities.
Rouens -- settler for the site west of Dij, WB will come from Dij and missionary will come from Avi

Will pillage 2 irons and produce some more warriors in mulitple cities before Verl come out of revolt (another iron there), in the same time, Astro will be ready so that we are likely to get some happiness resources from other AIs.

GP farms

Full potential: Orleans (6), Dij(6), Ami(5)
Partial: Rh(2~3), Mars(3~4)

War:

Western stack: Gerg->Camu
Eastern stack: Verl->Vienne

What's the problem of popping 2 GPs from Orleans?;) Any type of GPs are good and the more, the better.

It is ok now. We'll lose GP points in underdeveloped GP cities anyway. However, later, we'll have too keep in mind Orleans will always set the GP production bar higher and some cities, if not planned, will never produce GPeople.

I am ok with PPP. Green Light!

:whipped:

Once Sushi comes in, we can properly plan GP popping, we'll have much more flexibility. There will definitely be some wasted GPP but we can aim to maximize the # of GP we get nonetheless.

True. I hope we will not be one GP away from last GA. :p

Orleans's GPP poll will be set to 0 after it pops the 1st GP while other cities have GPPs in stock, so don't worry about whether other GP farm will pop a GP as long as they will hire specialists. Orleans can hardly produce 2nd GP faster than Dij and Ami in this GA.

Will play late tonight, while waiting, here's some issues for you guys to think about:)

What are the cities in your mind for the national wonders: WS, IW, FP, and Moai.

WS: probably Memphis due to Christian Shrine.

FP: Depends, are we planning on expanding overseas?
Yes: new continent
No: around Visigoth to get maximum effect. (Bibracte?)

IW: Thebes looks like a good contestant (13/20 river tiles) plus it might have settled GPs.

Moai: we have a lot of good candidates. Dijon, Avignon, Chartres, Toulouse... we can pick based on highest return or location (having a good production city in a region can be beneficial). No strong opinion on this one...

FP around Visigoth or Bibracte. It is much sooner than expanding abroad.

Moai. Dijon is a bit too far to contribute to others. So I am for Chartres. It can produce Moai, grow, and let Aryan have the fish since it would not have to be whipped as much. Toulouse isn't bad either.

Others as kossin said.

A couple of important factors for those wonder cities are

1. When the city is ready to build
2. The productivity

So I lean towards Bib as IW + WS city.

I'm considering beeline Steel next for early IW and cannons for oversea war. We need galleons for the war with Ram as well.

I thought you might say this. If we're closer to end-game than I thought, then yes. Producing the first few Executives fast is always important.

Steel is great for war. (SGOTM12 OSS made great progress with it).

We should evaluate Sushi > Steel vs Steel > Sushi in this case.
When we did go for hammers first, we finished slower.

Also, Globe Theater is something we didn't discuss. Having 1 city be whippable/draftable every (other) turn is not bad.

@kossin

The tech path may be dependant on what the AIs have researched. Incomplete information right now.

Didn't think we were that close to the end nor that Thebes and Memphis were that late. Still hard to believe.

I thought levee in Memphis and whip OF would produce WS but if we are that close to IW and WS, Bibracte is the only choice.

Cannon is the most powerful unit in the game and I love using it. Also, cannon wars are very efficient and we don't need to cripple ourselves and can focus in development more.
I support Steel beeline if that wasn't clear already.

Played 6 turns.

Astro was completed
popped a GM from Orleans, I really wish it was a GE, I usually tended to pop the type of lowest odd.:D
4 cities were captured, Brennus has more units than expected, to enhance the odd of our wounded veterans, I started to attack with catas, 1 died.
Met 3 AIs in other continent

Traded Feudalism and map from SB, he is usually backward anyway.
Spoiler :

Resources in other world
Spoiler :

Global tech except the most advanced AI, Hammy, who owns the Confu shrine and a bunch of wonders
Spoiler :

Last, our mini stack in the west front
Spoiler :

sossos is UP

If we ship the stack directly to Thebes and Memphis, we might be able to have these 2 cities coming to action in 20 turns, then they need to produce some necessary infrastructures and grow up, which would need 10~20 turns. Both IW and WS are wonders of heavy hammers, it will take them long time to up. ~50 turns from now in my estimation. Besides the earlier setup of productivity, another benefit of both IW and WS in Bib is that IW speeds up the WS and corporation executives, which are already big advantage.

:goodjob:

In 4 turns at most we should know where Hammy is in techs... I looked at his cities and can't seem to spot a University so there's at least that.

Next TS should cover until at least meeting Hammy so we can decide on tech path.

Some Q's.

The GMerchant is heading for Babylon I assume?
Lyons: queued Spear? If for MP, might as well get a chariot.

Future objectives:
- let's cross fingers and pop a GE !
- we probably get GM from Economics for Sushi.
- who to invade after Ram... Hammy has juicy wonders, other AIs have juicy resources.

SB: silver, Dyes, Stone, Marble, Ivory, Rice (4 Mining Inc, 6 Sushi)
Sal: silver, Marble, Rice, Crab, Ivory, Whales (4 Mining, 6 Sushi)
Ham: Crab, Whale, Gold, Dye, Rice (4 Mining, 4 Sushi)
Qin: Furs, Stone, Ivory, Rice, Gold, Marble, Whale (5 Mining, 4 Sushi)

Of course, we could invade everyone and only keep cities that contribute resources so that we don't cross Domination limit... get a dummy colony from the island in the north and gift bad cities.

The AP election will be up next turn, we should vote Ram again to be friendly with him so that we can trade Eng immediately (what to offer is an issue), the spear in Lyons is intended for producing a pike, we need some pikes for stack and city defense against Ram's HAs. We can produce some trebs, 2~3 pikes and some galleons for the coming war with Ram.

In any case, Edu is the next tech, however we won't research it in short time, better to wait for more science buildings of libs and salons.

Ram is getting Nationalism in 11 turns, but he'll have a hard time building the Taj :backstab:

Would it be nice to send some spies in Egyptian territory and spend those EP?

I was worrying about crossing the domination threshold when I read that:

We should definitely do something with that EP... now we only have to decide what.
-revolt city is useful for castles
-Ram has a few techs that might be unique (Music) to himself
-save for later use (culture)
