SGOTM 16 - Plastic Ducks

Are we safe of "accidental domination"?

Yes. Vassal land only counts as 50% towards Dom.
Spoiler :

We'll have to discard Borsippa quickly after getting a TM I'm afraid.
Spoiler :

Also, I'm starting to think that Saladin is a softer&better target than Qin. By capturing Mecca, we get the Hindu shrine, the same amount of Sushi resources and 2 more Mining Inc ones.

SB has yet to start SM that I can tell.

It is not like we'll get better infra from Qin. Universities generate culture in and are always destroyed. Also, if we fill Qin with techs, he might research something for us. Flight would be possible. AI likes flight.

Cities having 10+ riverside tiles and having 10+ citizens should produce levee 1st. But I'm unsure whether to whip it before factory + Plant.

Edit: the difference of whipping before and after factory + plant is 40H raw hammers, so if earlier levee gives more than 40H, then whip it, otherwise, no. Paris is special since whipping away the citizens cause the lose of large commerce. Better not whip away citizens on cottage tiles. Another example is Akk, definitely don't whip away those FP cottages.

Saladin is now engulfing both of our Taoist cities

In other news, Ramesses is finally gone.
Spoiler :

We're 2 turns away from Mining Inc as well... it will help the spread of Sushi execs, I'm having a hard time finding sufficient hammers for 2-t builds.

I made a few small mistakes during play, but nothing too drastic. I spread sushi to Orleans first rather than Paris because I needed the extra food for the gpp plan.

It's not 100% certain, but I think SB is starting on SM.
Spoiler :

There are several decisions to be made now, discuss away.
I can post more screenshots if asked, however there's so many cities that a summary would take too long

EDIT: session length was ~3:38, however the game was paused a lot while I was looking at things, probably more in the range of 5 hours overall.

Very good. The time and energy needed in this stage is tremendous.

If SB indeed started SM, then it's natural to war with him.

Once the 2 Tao cities get Sushi, they all good.

Seems that we are short of galleons. We need more of them for transportation of units in previous Egypt land and CE as well.

Interesting that there are more seafood resources near Humbaba's lair, need a settler t o claim them.

Indeed.

Regarding SB, like I said, it's difficult to say it that is SM but it appears to be a larger build than regular.

The 2 Tao cities+Sushi will still take a while to not be in danger of revolting, this means they require several troops. We might as well whip them, evacuate and gift them back to Hammy for a culture buffer.

I made a few more galleons but we will definitely need more as we start sending stuff from one side of the map to the other.

The seafood by Humbaba's lair is difficult to reach, a worker is needed for a fort.

In terms of religion spreading, I was thinking of using one of the Confu M to spread to Aryan, which only has 1 religion. That way, if spreading fails in Orleans/Thebes there's a city close by.

Similar for Taoism, we can just send them to Akkad/Babylon/etc. and then spread from there.

The problem of not spreading directly to Orleans and Paris is that we are going to switch to Pacifism soon. The same thing affects the 2 Tao cities since we just don't have enough time to spread the religions and that's why I want to keep them.

It'll be more clear for a couple more turns to see whether it's SM in his capital. Without the reinforcements from home, the remaining troops in Babylon are a bit thin. I think we should wait, switch EPs on SB so that we can see his cities.

We need workers for the new city to chop the forests into WBs directly, so fort is not necessary.

I see that some heavily whipped cities are going to hit the happy cap, don't hesitate to whip CC.

Communism->AL?

Some cities (such as Marseilles) are eventual GP farms, but others (Tours) will indeed require the whip soon.

Qin is starting to tech faster, if we gift him techs as shakabrade suggested and manage to get him a trap city, we could get a few freebies.

Communism>AL makes sense, we need Kremlin to reduce cost of so many whips.

I don't think we could go for Qin after capping SB. The last war is for domination. Moreover, I have never had hope on vassals to help the tech after the core cities being taken.

Not sure his tech pace could offer even 1 big tech. There are around 15~20 turns left for him to research a useful big tech and our EPPs don't seem enough to steal a tech like Combustion.

Minor micro adjustment:
Pi-Ramses to give back the FP to Memphis for 1t faster growth

Oh yay decisive move

GJ Kossin we are crushing :goodjob:

I've been juggling tiles between these cities quite a bit :)
Memphis can take the 3F1H plain farm to grow next turn as well; allowing Pi-R to grow this turn by switching the windmill to the 4F farm.

What's taking so bloody long at this time is that cities grow fast and there's a lot of micro to do in several cities every turn. I did not perform the city check this turn, if you look closely, you can see many optimizations possible (and stupid spy specialist!)

We are making 80 EP per turn. Negligible past this point?

It all depends on whether we can get a trap city. If yes, then you spread Christianity there and it's possible to steal the tech at ridiculous odds. However, I don't think anymore that this can happen in time.

@Duckweed
Ok for Confu, however, for Taoism we actually need 6 cities with the religion for the temples, so 2 ex-Babylon cities could use it. (or if we only want to build the cathedral in 1 city then ok).
We need at least 2 more Galleons, possibly 3 would be better.

Great turn set, kossin! :goodjob:

I don't think he'd research so slowly. He doesn't have Printing Press, Corporation and Free Market yet.

Too bad we didn't make him Friendly for trades. We could have decided on that as soon as SB got Islam. Now we don't have enough time to accumulate bonuses. And, I agree, we don't have enough EPT for such a distant civ.

Making Qin Friendly meant staying in Bureaucracy, unfortunately that's conflicting with the end game.

Anyway, he's already offering us most of his sushi resources, that's pretty much all that we need from him.

How to get him to friendly if we made the decision earlier? He got the +2 resource trade bonus and +4 fair trade already. He will get worse when we cap more AI and it's impossible for him to be friendly with our vassals.

Still we could steal a tech from him if the RNG favors. Gift him PP + RP so that he might research Rifling next. We could gift Sip to him as the trap city in the future.

Better than nothing.

If tile 3W1N of Humbaba is settleable, we might prioritize it. It needs some time to expand and flip Humbaba + we get crab. Only thing worrying me is that it looks like culture border is on the edge of the tile although there is no mechanics ti do so except mapmaker evileness.
