Considering that Tyo magically airlifted 75,000 men across the Atlantic last turn, I don't think reinforcing Norway should be a problem.

It should be noted that the airlift didn't have to happen in one day. It could've happened over several months. Not to say the thing would take a full two years, but that time allows for a lot to happen.

In any case that's better discussed in chat rather than flooding the thread with OOC stuff.

Syndicalist-American War

Slave riots in New America disrupt their invasion plans, killing 2,000 soldiers and 5,000 slaves.

New America’s horde of troops swarms in with 512,000 strong. The Syndicate defenses are composed of 100,000; while initially planning for an invasion of Iceland, the Syndicalist forces are alerted to movements on the border and dig in for one of the most hellish invasions of their time… At the same time New America’s 100,000 sailors clash with the Syndicalist fleet of 57,000.

Results:

-90,000 Syndicalist soldiers killed; 5,000 captured
-32,000 New American soldiers killed
-Disastrous naval assault; Syndicalists kill 37,000 American sailors. Blockade avoided and naval invasions thwarted.
-4 provinces taken by New America
-2.5 million citizens occupied by New America
-500,000 civilians killed or displaced in New American invasion due to extremely aggressive bombardment tactics

==Confederate-Leth War==

The Confederacy has 50,000 soldiers on its border with the Syndicates, 30,000 dispersed elsewhere, and has sent 100,000 soldiers and 70,000 sailors to strike at Lethian Mexico. Another batch have gone through Panama on merchant ships and invaded the Leth West coast – 120,000 soldiers and 130,000 sailors in total. 6,000 sailors remain on defense. 100,000 soldiers were sent overland into Texas and Oklahoma.

The Leth have a humble 120,000 troops to defend themselves with; they have 120,000 sailors on the West Coast and 60,000 on the East Coast.

70,000 sailors strike at Lethian Mexico; 130,000 strike at the West Coast.

Results:

-Naval Invasion of Mexico is a failure
-10,000 Leth sailors killed
-23,000 CSA sailors killed
-Naval invasion of the West Coast is a tie; the victory isn’t decisive enough to permit a naval invasion, thus saving the West Coast.
-28,000 Leth sailors killed
-34,000 CSA sailors killed

While the seas have disappointing results, there’s still a Confederate horde pushing against the border states. 100,000 men charge into 48,000.

Results:

25,000 Leth killed, 5,000 captured
9,000 Confederates killed.
Texas and Oklahoma occupied
1.4 million people placed under Confederate occupation
200,000 civilians killed in the intense crossfire

International Responses

-The Great Plains feels its defensive obligations do not stem to this conflict, and remains neutral.
-Cascadia abhors this violence and declares war on the Confederacy. Assets frozen.
-Caracas, Peru, Finland, Sweden, Aragon, Kirov and Poland declare war on New America. Assets frozen.
-Puerto Rico honors its prior agreement to not get involved in a war between its friends the Syndicates and Confederacy. It shall however freeze the assets of both powers (as well as the Leth and Americans) until the war is over, so as to help encourage peace between them.
-Burma, Iron China, Hindustan, Maratha shall remain neutral, but as their close ally the 501st has gone to war with the Confederacy and New America, the latter states shall see their assets frozen.

The Organisation for the Guaranteed Neutrality of International Shipping has been formed in the wake of reports that commercial shipping were used to assist the surprise assault on the Leth and Syndicates. Signatories to the OGNIS treaty:

The states have issued a joint statement:

-Declaring their ports closed to Confederate and New American trade
-Frozen the assets of the Confederacy and New America
-Closing their respective strategic waterways to the countries' shipping, to cripple their economy until they return to the status quo antebellum.
-To pursue a resolution next year that shall establish the use of commercial shipping and otherwise civilian vessels for the purpose of surprise attacks as a war crime.

Clarifying at Arya's request that the CSA and New America only used ships that were of their nationality. Commercial, civilian vessels (hence the outrage of the OGNIS), but technically theirs nonetheless.

You will notice the “Inf. Points” category is new. This stands for “Influence Points.” You earn them by participating in the Union of Nations’ debates and the like. Each point is redeemable for one point of influence in any country of your choosing. They are not redeemable for cash mechanically, but you CAN trade them to other players for money.

Apologies for how long this took. My Sociology course is a royal pain and thus, updates will probably be slowed down a bit for the next six weeks.

You can send orders in both actual numbers, or as percentages of your budget. If you don’t like micromanagement you can appoint a Prime Minister; I will manage your budget for you in accordance with whatever goal you have. Just make sure to tell me what you’re aiming for!

Recommendations:

-Espionage is a good tool to rein in NGOs. NGOs derive their income from their percentage of a host country’s total espionage value, similar to how countries earn client income. A good way to bury them is to invest in espionage in a country; even if you don’t root them out through counterintel you can still hurt them greatly in this manner.
-There’s a “profitability” measure on the Influence sheet. The higher the number, the more cost-effective it is to invest in that country.
-Participate in the UN. Even abstention votes will still generate some influence points; proposing resolutions and succeeding in getting them passed net the most points.
-Stay neutral. Neutral states don’t have to worry about things getting blown up, and a lot of events are biased towards peaceful countries.
-Invest in Siberia. Siberia will eventually end its civil war, and whoever invested in the sides will reap the rewards of this; you could gain a valuable ally from the anarchy. Even if you don’t win the war, you’ll still see lots of benefits.
-There are increasing theories that fission may have been a source of great power in the past. With enough education or military spending perhaps such theories could be looked into…
-West Australia is looking for allies. With them East Australia would surely follow.
-Invest espionage in countries you have influence in; this will help keep you safe from predatory attempts to purge your influence.

I'm seriously considering quitting after the war in NA is over. Too much stuff happened over the last turn that put a bad taste in my mouth.

hmm... just put the army at 7% and the navy at 3% forever unless i say otherwise.

a huge military is necessary, because all three neighbors are making me nervous.

EDIT: the 4 countries which border the Empire has a total of 618,688 soldiers. I currently have 722,288 soldiers. i guess I'm safe, unless they mobilize the army.

Eastralia has signed the Emancipation Act, freeing the 100,000 Westralians it had captured and repatriating them to Westralia. Eastralia has also declared the slave trade illegal on its soil, while freeing its current nearly 17,000 slaves.

In a testament of faith, all Protestants (Protestant being a term for anyone who is not a member of the Chinese Catholic Church, including other Catholics for being guilty of heresy) were rounded up by Yunnan and have been sold into slavery. 30,000 shall be going to market; 501st allies shall have priority, of course.

Kirov has served deportation notices to another 100,000 counterrevolutionaries. Syndicalist-aligned powers shall have priority in purchases.

Hawai’i has imprisoned 45,000 for various crimes (or they were simply outvoted by some spiteful relatives’ shares) and has sent them to market. Sino-Japanese states have priority, so it is expected Korea will purchase this load.

The Philippines’ breeding program has gone well; 30,000 slaves have gone to market. Crimson Republic has priority.

Sulawesi has put 20,000 to market. Crimson priority.

Timor has put 8,000 to market. Crimson priority.

Petrograd offers 25,000 slaves.

Somalia has deported 30,000 counterrevolutionaries. Azeri priority.
