This bug stopped me from winning when I took the last capital. I was the last one who owned my original capital. However the French did own the Viking capitol. This should not stop me from winning according to previous versions and the current civilopedia. If you are the last player to own your own starting capitol you win a domination victory.

I had to play several more turns (a few hours if I recall). To take the Viking capitol now owned by the French to get the victory.

Civ V BNW Version: 1.03.18 , (Released 7/2/13)

Here is the save game. I took the Portugal capitol with my marine and there was no victory.

Thanks,

They changed the domination victory condition in BNW to require that you possess all of the original capitals. You can see this on the Victory Progress screen "You are leading by controlling 6 of the original capitals." It changes to 7, of course, when you take Maria's capital, leaving just the Danish capital controlled by France.

So, no bug (except the Civilopedia text, which needs to be updated). You need to take the Viking capital away from France.

(My favorite theory is that they decided to change the domination victory condition after they saw MadDjinn steal a victory from the Mongols in his Maya LP. That. Just. Shouldn't. Be.)

playing as Mongolia on a large map with 9 other AI players, I conquered 8 other civilizations' capitals. Rome conquered Austria's capital, Vienna. That means I was the only civ in control of its starting capital, which should have been a domination victory. This can be confirmed on the victory progress screen (first upload, turn 359). The game didn't recognize my domination victory until I DOWed Rome and captured Vienna (second upload, turn 366)

This is not a game bug; it is a Civilopedia bug. You are playing the BNW expansion, where domination victory requires that YOU control all original capitals, but Civilopedia was never updated to reflect the change in the domination victory condition. The Victory Condition screen in your turn 366 autosave correctly states your progress towards satisfying that condition: "You are leading by controlling 9 original Capitals."
