NOTW LI: The Trial of Lilith [Suspended]

Good to see we have a thread now.

Okay everyone the game shall begin within 24 hours! You can expect your role PMs very soon.

Just a couple of questions about the new gameplay mechanics -
1) what's the difference between using a watchman to see who is doing a night action and having someone spy on someone?
2) are players voted into the tower (apart from volunteering)?
3) are you saying that if the captain is voted to be lynched then he is imprisoned instead of being lynched?

Sure no problem.

1) The Watchman is not targeted towards a particular player. Every player who performs an action requiring them to leave their tent has a chance of being seen by the Watchman, with the chance being determined by their relative stealth stats. The watchman won't know what they are doing, they will just get names. Spying is targeted at a particular player, the spy will definitely know if their target leaves their tent, and will have a chance to find out where they go (again based on relative stealths). From this you might be able to deduce if they were up to no good.

2) The player who receives the most accusations each day is either executed, or imprisoned in the Tower. Which of these happens to them is up to the Captain to decide.

3) If the Captain themself is the majority accused, they will go to the Tower and a new Captain is elected the following day. Characters in the Tower can be released, or executed at any time as a kind of free lynch.

Yep, the watchman can choose to perform a night action that night, but this will reduce the successfulness of the watch. The captain won't know whether he does or not. If you spy a spy you will know that they've left their tent, and if you are stealthy enough you will even follow them to their destination.

I just send them in the order people signed up. Seems fair, if you sign up first I'll give you your Role PM first.

Please don't send them in alphabetical order of player names. :please:

You know, I don't have a problem with that. :mischief:

I am Immaculate, Witch Doctor of the Doviello. I command the spirits of the great wilds to heal and to vex. Once I was a slave of the Bannor and I bear your race no love... but now it seems we need one another. For now our paths are one. Let us find a way from this hell.

Morning One

After Lilith and her entourage had disappeared the Bannor had spent the remainder of the day feeling distinctly uneasy. The brave warriors looked to Capria for instruction, but it was not particularly forth coming. It seemed she was determined to follow through with whatever test Lilith had in mind for them. No one questioned the decision she had made to accept the test, rather than attempt to run or to fight the demon succubus, but speculation as to what the test may be quickly abounded and the conversation soon took a distinctly negative turn. Exactly what kind of test would a demon lord have in mind for them? And could she be trusted to let them go free even if they did manage to complete it?! Before long night had fallen, and everyone was on edge. Capria soon departed for her tent and commanded her followers to do the same, no doubt they would need all their strength tomorrow to face whatever monstrous challenge that Lilith had laid out for them.

The Bannor warriors slept uneasily that night, many lying awake on their camp beds for hours, listening to the eerie screeching sounds that echoed throughout the strange world they had found themselves in. No doubt these were the voices of demons squabbling over a fetid corpse, or conspiring an attack against the camp. Some prayed to Sabathiel to guide and protect them, but there was no answer this time. It seemed that if the angel was watching over them, he had no intention of getting involved. This did little to improve anyone's mood.

In the morning, the Bannor left their tents in trepidation for the day ahead. They'd had a rather successful hunt a few days before, and Frozen In Ice the Elven diplomat began to cook a breakfast of boiled impflesh and ashbeet, small rock-like vegetables which they had been able to prise from the unforgiving stony ground. The absence of their leader Capria was not immediately apparent, as she often spent the mornings recording any dreams or visions she'd had in her old journal. She believed that these visions were given to her by the angel Sabathiel and would be key to finding the portal and escaping to the world of the living. The hours drew on, and soon people were beginning to get nervous, Verarde, the Priest, went to go check on her.

What he found when he peeked in through the opening of her abode was an awful sight indeed. Capria, their beloved leader, was strewn across the floor in a dark pool of blood which had spread to cover almost the entire floor of the tent. There were signs of a struggle, but it seemed she had been overpowered by her assailant. She had slash marks across her neck and breasts, and had several deep stab wounds in the abdomen.

Capria was dead!

Spoiler Alignment :
Capria was Innocent!

The priest looked around desperately for her journal, the book which contained all the maps, images and knowledge that Sabathiel had imparted upon their leader, but it was conspicuously missing. Lying nearby however was a strange letter sealed and bound with a red ribbon and splattered with blood.

When opened, the letter was blank, but the mocking voice of Lilith rang out throughout the camp;

''Warriors of Bannor! You are a brave and determined race, but not all amongst you are as strong of will as you might hope. There are some within your ranks who have already given in to the inevitable forces of the Underworld, they are my Savants, my devoted followers.

''Your test is simple. They are going to come for you in the night, ripping and stabbing, and tearing you one by one until none remain. And then your souls will suffer eternity in the jaws of the Balrog.''

''Unless of course you can kill them first, but who are they exactly? If you want your freedom you must destroy the enemy within before it's too late…''

The letter shriveled and burned to ash, and the voice stopped as abruptly as it began.

Players! Your leader is dead, and your angel guide is nowhere to be seen. It is time for the trial of Lilith!

"Friends! If you make me the Captain, I promise you a magical journey! Watch, watch, watch."

*POOF*

"Look! I can make smoke appear just by throwing this uh powder on the ground. ...MAGIC! In all seriousness, you need a wise leader who is innocent. That, I am.

And I shall require the short sword to protect myself. Obviously, if I am made the leader, someone will want to make me dead."

I will be the Captain. I've got the beard for it, as you all know.

I will also take the shortsword. I trust only myself in these dark times.
