Group B Game 1 - 1AD
The last week was pretty rough around here, things are hectic for a few more days but I expect them to settle a bit afterwards.
Now, here's the overlook at 1AD.
Pacal - not enough workers (for a computer) and the few he has are smoking something... that leads to horrible sights such as these. Of course, Pericles is the worse possible neighbour if you're not planning on killing him soon. Unremarkable tech rate really.
Charlemagne -in contrast for his 12 cities, Charley got himself 17 workers! But that's still enough... good chunk of land and managed to get a few Buddhists going around: Suleiman and Darius.
Pericles - this culture punishes even Deity AIs in the BCs. I really despise starting next to him because he can threaten to flip your cities before 800AD with his super early border pops. Nice tech rate and a pretty decent expansion.
Victoria - this expansion... atrocious. Gets a barb city sniped under her nose by faraway Darius. Huge tech rate but not much else going for her... the whip in the early game would have been better. Too much floodplains for the AI appears to be a problem similar to too many forests.
Darius - good tech rate going, 4C water tiles as well. Why the HECK has he not settled the double fish-gold spot. Oh right, there was a copper available at the south pole. This is really stellar land... a human would do fantastic with this land... however, as you might have guessed or glimpsed earlier... 2 AIs had busy hands. Napoleon and Darius! 2 bad cities were lost to the French in 16 turns.
Napoleon - what kind of expansion and warring is this!?! Go for far away Darius and target his weak cities? Oh... lucky Pacal managed to get him as a Jewish brother.
Still... let's take a look at what's lead to here: hopelessly backwards already in 400BC (the turn the war started). The only reason this war is working so far is because Darius was caught off guard. Why do I say this? Well, take a look at a sample city builds mid-war. Financial trouble means fewer units to sacrifice...
Suleiman - strong expansion, fighting off Charley to arguably the better part of the jungle. The tech rate is still suffering but it will pick up as he runs out of stupid things to build. Deity AIs
literally build everything available instead of wealth and research... other than those rare cases where they get an "idea".
Various demographics.
Land overview: everything gobbled up except a tiny region with no interest...
Pericles is looking good here, but the southern Buddhists could wreak havoc if they start pummelling on the north.
